And finally, we move over into your drivetrain and we go over how to tighten your chain, how to tighten your back wheel, and how to center your back wheel as well!

Cool thanks man I've got two kids and just recently got back into riding. I bought a new bike and after riding for a bit and my chain stretched out I pulled my back tire to tighten the chain but could not get it centered to where I satisfied (perfectly center) I was about to take it into the shop and have them do it for me but his video saved me a trip. Thank you and keep up the straight to the point informative videos 👌

Man this is what I was looking for! Just got a complete Sunday soundwave and was having trouble getting the back wheel centered.
When i do back wheel & chain, i use two square pieces of cardboard (some taped together if needed) to fill in the space between the chainstay and tire on each side. Keeps tention and a square wheel alignment while tightening bolts.

I couldn’t get my back wheel off or my chain tight it was always loose then I realized I bent my frame 🤷♂️

Hey Alfredo, how do I tighten the washer behind the nut with the screwdriver??
If you place the flat head behind the nut you’ll feel that it has a little ridge, turn that ever so gently, it might almost feel unnoticeable, then tighten up the outer nut and you’ll feel the pedals tighten up
I was told a tight chain was bad for your bike (freehub/cassette bearings IIRC), better to set up some sort of crank-stopper surely?
I run a washer shaped piece of tyre sidewall between my non-drive side crank and BB, I've heard a ,more extreme option is to drill and tap a hole through the BB shell and put a screw in to rub against the axle. I don't think I'd go that route though!
Edit: The simplest, most universal way is to take your non-drive side pedal off, cut up some inner tube calamari (aka "ranger bands") about 1" thick and stretch a few layers over your crank to overlap the BB, add/remove layers depending on how much resistance you want. They do wear out quickly though so need replacing...

OK so the back wheel needs to be centered but it doesn't need to be milimetricly adjusted, right? Just that there is not a greatly obvious difference, did it get it right?

Yeah, i rode a lot when i was a kid. Slip a chain a few times and you learn real quick. And the sprockets back then, well you know. hahahaha

My chain is rubbing on the frame what do I do
Hey Alfredo quick question I have a 1980 Hutch Pro racer but I can't Center my tire on the lower chain stay because it just won't quite line up with the upper chain stay for my brakes so I don't know what kind of crack those guys were smoking when they were building those frames but they all seem like they're off a little bit has this been your experience as well I assume that the '90s frames were probably a little more centered excetera but I can tell you one thing all them horror frames acted like they were all smoking some real good s*** too cuz nothing's aligned right
So I've always just put the washers and nuts to bike rims what ever way works but what is the proper sequence from rim to nut on bmx bikes? And does any where sell a kit of different hardware so I can have some stocked at my house?

Hey guys. Would anyone know why my tire has an up and down movement while riding? It got messed up either by tightening spokes or when my chain got moved around last week. Ik it happened while i did one of those 2 that I mentioned as I went to spin tire and and it had that up and down when back tire gets spun.
My chain keeps coming off what should i do

Hello, I am 12 and I am currently in the BMX game. I have a 36 sprocket but I want to put a 48t sprocket. I don't really do any stunts, just ride with my friends. Now my sprocket rubs on my frame and I do not want to go smaller(btw I have a 1 piece crank) Is there anything I can do? Like put a washer for the sprocket side to come out a bit like at least 1/4"? Any help will be accepted

Hey guys could you help me out my bike makes some kind of noise just bought a new chain bottom bracket hubs and pedals my bike has been making a noise before i bought any of that could be sprocket wear i guess what do you think please let me know the noise is very annoying and i hate it i thought it was my freewheel because i sprayed it with wd40 and the noise got quiter for a day maybe its something to do with my chain does lack of chain wax or lube have anything to do with that?i havent put anything on it since i got it

Oh...he's talking about when the bike is flipped upside down...Then the Right Side, which is the Left Side when you're riding the bike...unless you ride the bike upsidedown...is Reverse Thread and the Left Side which is the Right Side when you're riding the bike is Right Thread...For the pedals and Crank Nuts if you have one piece cranks
