The inflationary effects of the war in Ukraine are creating far more financial problems for both the working and middle classes - but that inconvenient truth continues to fall under your journalistic radar
What is the point of children if you are not going to care for them yourself? That is what mothers are for. Careers and motherhood don't mix together properly at the same time. You cannot do both properly.. being a sahm is not just about being a mother it is caring for the ailing and frail members of the extended family . There is mothers instinct and intuition which childcare has not got. Mother and fathers are not interchangeable except in emergencies. They have different roles and that is why men are more suited to be breadwinners and mothers to be breadmakers. I taught my children as much as I could before school and socialized with like minded families. I also taught them how I cared for each subsequent child so they would learn about childcare and put into fruition when they become parents in the future. Mothers and child should bond and childcare makes that difficult.iif you work maternity, leave is a joke because it's not long enough even to feed a baby as nature intended for as long as nature intended. If you feed otherwise you have still got the nighfeedsto be met for a child and they should nt be cheated out of them. So why put children in expensive childcare when you can do it yourself? It is only going to pay taxes to bullying governments who do not care about family life.
I disagree. Not all women bond with their children. Often, men can be better at providing care. It would make sense to have our economy set up so that every person can afford basic needs and savings on one wage, with all jobs based on part-time hours, so that both parents get the same opportunities to care as well as earn.
@@mingmingyip19 The reality is that our care burden as a whole is too much for individuals to bear alone. Not just in costs but also in time, energy and ability. If we want a working society, we have to work as a team. Eventually, we will have to share the right to work for pay as well as the responsibility for care. There are a lot of people who are in unpaid work who need respite.
@AtheistEve we don't want a working society!! Every man women and child slaving their guts off, no thanks. If, as a women you want to work then fine, take a job that pays enough for child care. I’ve worked hard to get where I am so I can be ripped off by energy companies and being extorted by nurseries and having a whole wage taken away. It simply doesn’t make sense!
Where I live nursery is 2k per month per child. The nursery attached to the state school costs 1.7k per month!
having kids is worth the massive expensive of them
Mum with 3 kids and no husband in sight would be smart if she set up day care from her home. As a Teacher she already has all the skill-set necessary. Lots of funding/support available too. She could charge whatever is the going rate - that's what I did as a lone-parent until my kids were in secondary, then re-trained in a different career. Never paid a penny in childcare, ever. I wish her good luck, raising kids is a hard job!
No husband in sight, I wonder why?
Clue, she's white. The kids aren't.
But you're a go -getter , not a whingy, blame everyone else moaner .
Good idea
How do you know there’s no husband in sight? At 1.17 seconds there is literally a family picture on the wall behind her with her husband. Also she may not want to turn her house into a childminding facility, she teaches secondary school age kids for a start so she clearly prefers teaching older age groups.
I have no sympathy for any woman who has children but still chooses to be a teacher.
Career mums are the worst.
Been there done that. Kids are expensive.

So issue is we have low birth rates and should have more kids but cannot afford to have a kid.
@@andromeda_25 it's just what some people want out of life, to create more. Obviously society just isn't made for big families anymore unless you're well off, and by big, I mean more than 1 child per 2 incomes.

Childcare costs us 272euro per month here in Ireland for one child, thats for 40hrs of care per week!
It's due to decrease further in Ireland but we'd consider that pretty affordable.
Where's the father of her three children?
Erm.... I'm gonna take a wild guess that hes in a council flat somewhere having a great time smoking weed and listening to reggae.
Seriously if they were white you would not be asking such a stupid question. At what point in the interview does the conversation point to her being a single parent? On the contrary, everything she said points to the opposite...

She constantly says “we” and “our” when talking about providing for her family, and at 0:58 there is a family portrait with a man who looks very much like he could be the girls’ father. She could be recently divorced, or he could just have not wanted to be on TV. If she IS a single mother, it is obviously a recent development (given the ages of the girls in the family portrait) and not something she planned to do.

10 years ago people weren’t faced with massive energy bills, mortgages, food bills etc, etc. Child care has always been expensive. Our birth rate is falling for heavens sake. We are soon going to be in trouble:
“The conditions of growth - why our declining birth rate is the most pressing issue our nation faces”
If anything we should be investing and facilitating childcare, helping families with children as part of longterm growth and stabilisation of our economy. The numpties who spout you shouldn’t have children if you can’t afford them demonstrate they have no foresight for the bigger picture and how that impacts us all - pensions, social care… - further down the line.
@@CBEEBLE exactly, Families have struggled for years , a family of twins and the mother went back to work after maternity leave , the parents were paying just under a thousand pounds a month for child care . Government has destroyed . A Right to a Family life ,
A lot of families can adapt by having one parent stay at home to raise their children. It would be much better for the wellbeing and development of the children too.
Other lifestyle choices can be adjusted too in many cases.
Opportunity cost is far to high long term. Better to not have kids honestly.

As soon as 'our own' do get slightest bit of help you suddenly start complaining about 'scroungers'. Stop lying and just admit you don't think anyone who needs help deserves it. No one is actually dumb enough to think there's any connection between the amount of poverty here and foreign aid elsewhere, so stop pretending to believe it.

Foreign 'aid' to further our goals abroad? How much did bombing Iraq cost?
Men avoid having children because of feminism and the mindset of these women. Nothing you said is part of the issue. The issue is women having children with no father. And in most cases, they push them away and go to the government & portray to other women that they can do it by themselves.
This is so sad to see

@AtheistEve how about a reality check
Both parents need to work to pay their bills
@@mingmingyip19 The reality is that our care burden as a whole is too much for individuals to bear alone. Not just in costs but also in time, energy and ability. If we want a working society, we have to work as a team. Eventually, we will have to share the right to work for pay as well as the responsibility for care. There are a lot of people who are in unpaid work who need respite.
@AtheistEve we don't want a working society!! Every man women and child slaving their guts off, no thanks. If, as a women you want to work then fine, take a job that pays enough for child care. Did these people think about costs before having kids? How about having a break from work and raising them yourself for a few years no childcare?

Besides if you want a new phone and to pay £25-£30 a month versus having the money to buy handset out right, as presumably none of these families do, sometimes it’s more cost-effective especially if it’s used for work. Regardless it’s completely incomparable to two grand a month for childcare.
