Well i scored a pentax k-50. I was origionally wanting the k1 or k3. But... as i found this for a deal... i got 2 more batteries as well as a new 256 gb card. And working with the lenses i got with my first 35mm camera. Ive also heard that despite the " life expetency" there are many that have gone over the shutter count and still rocking.
I was a little shocked about your comment in the newsletter saying that you bought the wrong camera brand; I get that. For years, I've thought Canon's approach to imaging chips was superior to Nikon's but...I grew up shooting with Nikon film cameras and lenses and I guess I just got stuck on them. Had I started with Canon, then like you, different story. But...after Nikons since 1970, I guess that I have to give them Kudos for the upgrades in technology they have made and the improvements. I tried switching between at one time, but like different cars, there were just too many differences for me to maintain dual currency on two different bodies. So, I'm still (like you) invested in Nikon and will remain so until death do us part...
Really, really, thorough/deep dive into buying that first camera. Somewhat like falling down the rabbit hole. I've been using a Canon APS-C camera as my workhorse for everything from head shots to outdoor photography. I have to add, lenses are, or may be, more important than the camera. Crappy lens - crappy photos. But, just recently I purchased a 10 year old Fujifilm X-T1 with a really low shutter count and a couple of great lenses for a bargain price and I'm having a ball with it. It feels like driving an old sports car on the weekends. Great job on your video. Cheers
Hi Dana! Thanks for the feedback! I agree, lenses are more important.
Might want to update the video at 5:57 when you say "Mirrorless cameras have no shutter" - they certainly do - it's the MIRROR they don't have! - Otherwise good video - covers more thoroughly the considerations needed before buying a new camera. Thanks.
Thanks for that! Honest mistake. Too late to update though.
Hello what camera do you recommend for product photography and what lens?
Hi Parker! Thanks so much for your insight into camera choice! As a newbie, I would be really happy to invest in a second hand Sony digital camera. However, as I learned from the Sony website, most of the camera bodies are mirrorless. In this case, is there still a way to do the camera check before or after the purchase?
Thanks very much!
Thank you for this video.
Yes, this is important..If I was buying a camera today, I would buy a Sony A9 instead of A7iii but I didn’t really know what I needed at the time I bought my A7iii, it’s a NICE camera but sometimes not as fast as I need it to be!
Do you still use the A7iii today?
i do
The video is great and insightful, but sadly I'm not a step further.
I need a camera to take photos of guitars for my shop and occasionally record a video - audio rec is not important. I have made the mistake of buying a chinese product which doesn't want to work with LED lighting at all, so i figure I'd need a new camera that can record at 24 FPS?
What could you recommend? (no smartphone camera please)
Nice vid thanks! Subbed.
There is no wrong camera!
Hi parker, am having trouble picking a camera. I want to take potrait and landscape photo and am only doing this as a hobby, what brand do you recommend and do you recommend aps-c or full frame?
Your questions are answered in the video. Did you watch it?
Hello Parker. I would like to do high quality prints as big as 50x50 and murals for businesses and homes. Any advice on that please.
Highest quality for big prints; Medium format.
