Thanks for sharing, all of your videos are great!! I have been using this with Gi and No-Gi grappling. In No-Gi the hands are clasped toguether. This "Ambush" Choke works great while standing.
I must say, I have definitely learned a lot from this instructor. I am a Karateka of Shotokan and in search of an art that would compliment it as a lifestyle; Judo is what I have chosen. I thank you for this instruction.
@PiiskaJesusFreak A somewhat similar choke is the loop choke as shown by Robson Moura ?v=vegYMca3c5w The set up is similar to the knee push sweep and many times your opponent just bases out and then works on passing your guard (not shown by Moura). You then dive under there arm and get the submission. Key detail is with loop choke is it uses the cross collar grip so you are telegraphing a sweep that many grapples know how to deal with.
ahhh I see. Thats great. One of my favorite videos from you would have to be throwing osoto gari while they stiff arm you. im 5 11 and about 170 i get stiff armed alot going in for throws in randori and the technique works very well! Thank you!
90 degree turn is all you need, get perpendicular, break their balance forward, comes on fast. if you have flexible spine/back, you can get the turn without repositioning.
we practice this one, we call it the baseball choke because the grip is like how you hold a baseball bat. For self-defense you can do baseball choke standing and them throw opp't somewhat like morote seoi nage
None of the talk in this video seemed unnecessary for me. A short demonstration (with ~70% realistic speed) of the technique in the beginning of the video would be nice. The technique itself is very sleek and efficient. I have been a few times on the receiving end of it, and it still gets me by suprise :-). I wonder if it could be combined with scrissor sweep attempt?
