When I was young, riding a narrow tire 10 speed, I'd get a flat and ride on the flat until I could afford a new tube. But the flat tire would often come off the rim Sometimes I'd have to just ride on the rim for a few days. But I had a friend who had been riding on a flat for weeks and it stayed on the rim, so I asked him how h did it. He said just put a junk tire (no tube) inside your tire, in fact both tires can be junk tires. The inner tire holds the outer tire on the rim, you can ride forever on your flat tire. The bike rides just fine like that. I think at one point I rode my bike for most of a year with no tube, just two tires on the rim, one inside another. I don't think this would work with modern wide tires.
Thanks man I’m doing this on a Fixie rim i had horrible Rim on my front tire before which gave me more than 5 flats in one month now I got a new tire and rim which is better I traded it now it was the inside the rim itself giving me trouble fixed it both front and back rims now icy back wheel rim is giving me problems because I got a flat yesterday and road it like that but it was already worn out and thin so I just messed it up more I’m doing this double inner tube but I cut it down the middle and I am wrapping it around the other tnew inner tube and sticking it in tire so hopefully helps for now since i messed up my back tire been more now the wire is sticking out on a side of the tire but not broken just showing so hopefully all is well thanks for this video on different ways to double or triple your bike tires or inner tubes I met a guy on the D or B line metro I LA he had a fixie aswell and thin rims he said he double inner tubed his inner tubes and hasn’t changed his thin tires in 2 years so we will see 👍🏻
Hi. There're no any problems with safety. But the ride becomes tougher (low pressure may help, I don't recommend if you have no motor). And keep in mind that it's much harder to take a double tire off the rim.
I meant low pressure. It's too hard to pedal. Use very high pressure to ride on a double tire because it's heavier. But with high pressure the ride becomes tougher because a double tire is thicker.
@@nonstandardlifeHello again I have been riding with double tyre and all is good. But I noticed the bike is feeling a lot of vibration over rough ground. Is this normal? I have gotten used to it now but just wondered if you experienced this?
airless tires also have a ton a ton of drag because the air inside the tire doesnt ciruclate around. Riding on them feels like the permament state of riding through foamy mud.
О,а у меня тоже есть один видос с субтитрами на инглише. Про Рокон - это культовый американский мотовездеход и поэтому видос про своего Атамана (Питерский аналог Рокона) я счёл необходимым сопроводить англоязычными пояснениями. Так что идею вещать в Ютубе на английском вполне разделяю. Только я наверно буду чередовать два языка в одном видео,чтоб понятно было всем. К тому же слабо владею английским. А в идеале будет создать отдельный англоязычный канал!
Надоедает параллельно 2 канала вести. В свое время я выбрал русский, оказалось, прогадал. Субтитры люди не любят читать, я с ними маялся, а аудитория все уходила, потом я на них плюнул. А теперь уж вариантов нет. Можно было бы на TH-cam аудиодорожки отдельно заливать, кому какую надо, выбирали бы. Но что-то тупят, или технически заморачиваться не хотят просто, не знаю.
