- “There was a chap who was a passenger on a flight to New York, and when they started the film, he had seen it before on the telly, and he was so disgusted he got up and walked out…” It is at this point that things start getting really interesting… :-)
Jokes are excellent language practice material: they are short, they are fun and they can help students improve their fluency and (crucially) their prosodic features as well; you cannot tell a joke well unless you play with stress, pitch, intonation and pausing. But students still need a good model. Here is the great Ronnie Corbett in one of his inimitable monologues. Enjoy!

One of his best ever!
This is almost cheating - you've GOT to see the VIDEO too because Corbett is so funny!!
R.I.P. Ronnie Corbett
two Ronnie's won't see like again 😇 both rip
This sentence is so poorly written I’m not even sure what you mean. I guess taking five seconds to proofread eight words is too much for the youth of today
Legend
Hey, Ronnie - - pick a tense and stick to it 😆
Very appropriate story in light of this lockdown. Hilarious 🤡
What, or who, is ELT
I'm assuming English Language Teaching, or something very similar to that.
@@Somnogenesis Not a great choice of clip, then, seeing as Ronnie keeps switching tenses 😆
@@Sundae_Times Hah, that's a good point!
Great username, by the way 🤣 🍦
Lol
He was irritating in that chair.
