There’s no boot mode option under the boot tab. Just “USB Boot” “PXE Boot to LAN” and “IPv4 PXE First” all which are just enable/disable options.

all you need to do is exit by saving changes, and then pressed F12 repeatedly.

yes that worked. but if you are running windows 11 remember to re-enable Secure Boot after you finish what you are doing because Microsoft made block updates to your computer if don't have Secure Boot on

@@kamadotanjiro6511 it only happens if you merge all the drives. select custom installation and select the C drive for installation only. Don't touch any other drives

I have a hard drive connected via USB that has Windows 7 already installed previously that I haven't used in awhile but nothing U have tried is working. I don't believe the actual hard drive connection beneath the laptop I have is working anymore so that is why I'm trying to boot from the USB. I don't have a hard drive connected underneath and it keeps telling me "windows failed to start, the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"

Boot mode is not selectable
Hello,
1_ insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.
2_ Turn on the PC , immediately press F2 repeatedly, to open the BIOS Setup.
3_ select " Exit ", and then choose " Load Default settings", to Reset BIOS Settings to their factory default settings. ( The laptop will restart.)
4_ Press F12 to open the Boot Options menu when restart your laptop.
5_ Then select the " USB flash drive ", and then press Enter " to start booting from USB to install Windows.
Note:
✓ Recommended way to enter BIOS IdeaPad:
Turn the PC on.
1_ Immediately and repeatedly press F2 or (Fn+F2). Accessing the BIOS may take multiple attempts.
✓ Recommended ways to enter BIOS ThinkPad, ThinkCentre, ThinkStation:
1_ Power on the system by pressing the power button.
2_ Repeatedly tap the F1 key when the Lenovo, ThinkPad, ThinkStation, or ThinkCentre logo appears.

In my lenovo laptop boot menu, there is no Legacy first option. What to do ?

✓ in some Models when you selected Boot Mode. You can Press Enter to Swap from UEFI to Legacy Support. And you can select first Boot ( Legacy or UEFI).
in this model if you selected "legacy support" you will see " first boot".
But
✓ Legacy BIOS Boot Support Removed in Lenovo 2020 products, Because :Intel previously announced that in 2020 they are phasing out support for legacy Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) boot mode. This means that many of the Lenovo products launching in 2020 will no longer support the Legacy Boot option in BIOS. The only Boot option that will be supported on those products is Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI).
Solution:
Customers should transition their networking and support infrastructure to boot architectures that support UEFI. Some Lenovo products shipping in 2020 will support Legacy Boot (depending on the model), but most will not. Customers may contact a Lenovo Sales or Support representative to inquire whether the product they are interested in purchasing supports Legacy Boot.

when I press f2 all I get is a bios menu without any means to tab over to security or anything else. Cant change secure boot.
Welcome, you can boot from USB without changing secure boot.
Note: if you want to install Operating systems such as Linux or previous version of Windows you may need to disable Secure Boot.
Press F12 to open the Boot Options menu when restart your laptop.
Then select the " USB flash drive ", and then press Enter " to start booting from USB to install Windows.

Welcome, Yes, you can use the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB to download windows OS from Microsoft official site.
you can also use Rufus to create a bootable USB using an existing ISO file.
You need to have USB flash drive of at least 8GB of space.
