Thank you for doing this as a video and not a stream. It's hard to follow what's going on during a stream because of all the viewers asking questions. While I can appreciate the necessity to do that, it just makes it hard to watch at a later date. Keep up the good work. I'm now a new subscriber.
I'll be honest, I don't ever watch livestream replays myself so I 100% agree. I always intended to do this series, but I wanted to get some fast content up and answer questions that players had about the game. But thanks for letting me know and rest assured this series will be thorough, regular and completed. I'm recording it now and all through the week as I get time.
@@battlemode Exactly, I've found I cannot watch those, between the streamer talking about random stuff with his chat and (understandably) reading out donations or whatever, it turns 15 minutes of content into like an hour of interruptions.

Feminie was the first faction i played with when this game came out. Their lady knights and unseen/veiled ones were the best troops while the ladies at arms were quite helpful when clearing out independents as well as the weak to average troops of enemy factions. Still, I suspect that the best way to play Feminie is to use their emphasis on research to either make their mages more powerful or conjure better troops. On the plus side, the sage-queens are able to shroud some troops under her command, allowing you to sneak invisible soldiers into vulnerable provinces.
They've got incredible research capabilities, I think if you're playing them single player, they're pretty overpowered actually. In MP, perhaps not so much, you'd have to survive a rush as once your opponents know what you're capable of, you're gonna get rushed I think.

Before I watch, some feedback on the thumbnail: The red border made it so that one part of my brain had to do a couple of double-takes before it could explain to another part of my brain that I hadn't already seen all these episodes. Might want to consider that if you're dependant on the quick decisions that I assume generates clicks. :)
Hey, that's great feedback. I'll look to change that for the next series, thank you! I'm kinda lazy with thumbnails, some are better than others but I am getting better at it. I'm an artist but was never very good at graphic design, but I'm slowly improving!

XD 29:55 The Sage-Queen actually has the same upkeep as the Sorceress thanks to being sacred. Looks like a good nation for an unaging bless. 38:36 It isn't just the enemies used gems. Your own count as well. So there is even a bit of recursion if you do things like turning your astral gems into other gems. Either per alchemy or the wish spell for example. 40:29 Full disruption!!! Disruption is fun! 43:00 I usually increase the size of the global spell pool and the hall of fame. Yep, nation looks cool. :)
I did consider playing in Turmoil scales for added realism lol Yes I actually forgot to increase the Globals and Hall of Fame this time, oops. Doesn't matter a whole lot in single player but that'd upset MP gamers!
The Caelum nations have the new Air magic path, so there's no invisibility/confusion etc stuff in there, instead they've got some powerful new spells like blasts of wind that stun large amounts of troops and stuff like that, very interesting changes!
@@battlemode Sounds like a lot of fun to play with! I'll admit I was worried for my favorite birbs because of the new troop changes; with the potential for bigger, and thus longer battles, Caelum might not match up all that favorably since they already struggle in any fight that isn't lightning quick.
I hope they are coming out with a new manual for v6. I have all their other manuals. (v4, v5, Conquest of Elysium) They are some of the best manuals out there. Yes they are big but are a pleasure to read. Not sure where they plan on selling them but I've bought them from lulu
Just fyi, you are correct that the god is Isis, but I'm pretty sure it was her husband Osiris which was dismembered not Horus. I only remembered this due to Age of Mythology.
Graphics is the same, some UI changes, new factions and probably some other gameplay improvements, but at a glance its basically the same game. You would really have to go deeper to notice what changed.
Golems can no longer use the harmonica so that's a huge game-altering state you'll notice immediately. Also battles happening in real time, they're just so cool to watch now.
They get more freespawn, more often, everywhere now, not just in forts and forests, and the freespawn is better as far as I can see. Also the changes to scales and some special rules means the Popkill isn't quite as intense as it was before, but whether it's a very big change or not remains to be seen. At least from what I saw, they look a lot better now. You'll be able to recruit their national units for a lot longer than before.
Not sure what I think of Feminie. I see them struggling with troops personally, especially for late age, which is probably why they struggled with expansion. The veiled ones feel like a weak sacred. High defense and the Septum at least does reasonable damage, but unless glamour has changed in Dom 6 I could see them getting shot to pieces. Their own archers are kitted out with shortbows. Honestly probably a bigger threat to the Veiled Ones than they are a help. Other than that they pretty much just have bog standard medium/heavy infantry. Not really good at killing things so I guess the intention would be to use them to try and hold a line while your mages do damage. Knights are basically just LA heavy cav. Pretty normal looking communion lineup. Nice broad path access. Agree on the assessment of the Unseen One. That's a nice little thug chassis. Do something to get HP up and boost armour up. It will struggle with killing things with low strength. I like your pretender design. I agree that it is certainly not a good MP build but as a means to showcase what SP can do I think it is awesome.
So as always, I went to my tutor and asked "How do you expand with Feminie, do you think?" and he said "Cavalry". The Knights are very, very good at expanding, and so I think in MP they're gonna expand just fine actually.
I'd recommend you start by playing on a Medium sized randomly generated map, stick to the Early or Middle Ages as they're a lot more forgiving with regards to the strength of the Indy provinces you'll face in expansion, and also magic is a lot stronger and easier to use (in Late Age there's a lot of Blood magic, sabbaths and communions and that's a bit more advanced). Then put the AI players on Easy, and Defensive, and then just pick whatever nation looks exciting and interesting to you. The biggest barrier to entry is Pretender design. DasTactic's advice here is best: IF you feel overwhelmed by the options, for your first game, hit R key and randomise it. The Pretender isn't that important on Easy and so you'll be able to get straight into a game and play. If you're happy with the decision making and don't get analysis paralysis like some do, then I'd recommend taking a big monster Pretender, giving it a bless that makes it stronger (anything that boosts Defence, Protection and so on) and then give yourself some good scales so you're not struggling for resources early on, then go stomp the AI!

Feminie seem to have very strong research and good mages, but their units seem on the weaker side for a late age nation. They also don't really have any special tricks apart frem being good at research. Nothing that really makes them stand out. They would not be among my first choices in a competitive multiplayer game. It will be interesting to see what units you will use for expansion.
That research though... even slacking off you're getting 200RP a turn on turn 12, you're gonna outpace everybody with that. I think a good player could have even more than that.
I'd advise picking a random pretender and just playing a short game on Easy with jusy two or three opponents, with just a couple of Thrones. Once you begin playing it'll start to click, but don't over think it
These might look like small changes but they've significantly changed how the game plays, but I understand not everybody is as enthralled by it all as others.
Damn..it looks like Ind's invisible borders continue into this version. I would greatly appreciate if you could test on a small map to see how the AI handles those invisible borders and the new diplomacy system. In Dom5 Ind and Naba were seriously annoying to play because the AI couldnt see borders and would all trigger foreverwar with you. Id love to know if the AI can see your borders when you have a Non=Aggression pact with them. The hiding of borders is a feature designed for multiplayer with zero consideration for its consequences in SP. I've always wondered if Illwinter had issues with Jews since they made the Jewish mythology nations monstrous demon summoning cannibals. In the same light what do Feminie's garbage indie troop line up say of their attitude toward women..and the screaming.
