      To be fair to PBG, sometimes the blessing shrines appear after doing a really simple or small task and sometimes you do a huge quest and get a normal puzzle shrine. They're kind of all over the place.

    • @Nat_the_Chicken
      @Nat_the_Chicken ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@Iaconacoalsaurus I feel like most of the latter cases were either Champions' Ballad, or thematic, like Greedy Hill being after the rock roast quest or the Spring of Power being a Major Test of Strength. Plus the Thundra Plateau one, which was more of a catharsis shrine than a puzzle shrine, it was like "here, take out your frustration by smashing all these blocks to bits." In terms of the former, yeah there were a couple that they just put in caves with rocks in front of them and said "hey this is pretty hard to find right?" when the Sheikah Sensor exists. But at least in most cases where the quest was actually very difficult and involved, you got a blessing shrine, which I think is the most important thing design-wise. If they actually had all been puzzle shrines that would have been frustrating imo.

      Yeah, I'll be playing BOTW again when Tears of the Kingdom comes out since I'm unable to buy it on release because "reasons" (Saving for a PS5......and I passed my "games I'll buy at full price" for the year with Octopath Traveler 2, FE Engage, Etrian Odyssey 3 HD, Front Mission 2 Remake and Pikmin 4! So my ass is broke till next year or Tears gets a major price drop sale which I doubt anytime soon this year) so since I bought the Expansion pass AFTER beating it on the WiiU all those years back (100% that) for my Switch version on MASTER MODE (As I said 100% it, so I'll be 100% it again WITH the expansion stuff as I never got to try any of that back on the WiiU)
      Right Now I'm finishing up Xenoblade 3, going to play the Future Redeemed likely tomorrow, Finish up my 5th Fire Emblem Engage playthrough AND my Silver Snow playthrough on 3Houses before I do so (Cause I want to 100% Master Mode BEFORE July when Pikmin 4 comes out!)
      But yeah, you never "complete" forget everything, but you forget "ENOUGH" that you still get that sense of "New" from when you first played it! Especially as I pointed out, 1st run was on normal, now second run is on Master Mode! (I'm only using the "Tips" document I made for myself when I played the WiiU to give myself "hints" as I made it back then EXACTLY for the day I play anew to keep things fresh, whatever I benefit or fail to understand my own "Vague Hints" is on me! Especially on Master Mode!)

      @@novasZK Yep, that I agree with! I played and beat BOTW 100% back on the WiiU around the month it first came out! (Got lucky and scored a free copy from the Library I go to before anyone else did! Had it for a week! Returned it, then got to the library the next day on opening to snag it again before anyone else! Was able to do this for as long as a month before I 100% and beat it! Even when I got my Switch Later down the road, I waited till a Price Drop to buy it again, Happened with the Expansion Pass before Gamestop sold it pretty cheap "New" last year, haven't touched it since though because I wanted to wait till I forgot many secrets up till now)
      Master Mode will be interesting because many of my approaches before are going to have to be different in that mode! Especially in the first area as I know from gamefaqs they have a "NASTY" surprise moving about up their now! Well at least you start getting better with Stealth I guess LOL. I don't plan to 100% it again, that was a nightmare the first time, but I do plan to get as CLOSE to 100% as I can get as it's BOTW! Actually, the "Blessing" Shrines are only behind challenges done in the overworld. For Example, Eventide is a challenge, and you get a blessing so you don't have to do ANOTHER puzzle after already completing the other challenge. 3 more examples are the Mazes. Once you complete the Mazes, you get a Blessing Shrine.

    @6:50 One thing I will mention about the blessing shrines is that most (I do believe there's at least one exception) require a puzzle/challenge to encounter them in the first place (Eventide Isle, for example). So while the shrines themselves are boring, if they weren't, it would be "Hey! Congrats on completing that puzzle/challenge. As for your reward, you may attempt ANOTHER puzzle/challenge," which would be, at least a little, disheartening. So the couch comment is misleading or something like that.

    BotW is a pretty solid game, but not my favorite in the series. However, it was a solid first attempt, and I'm excited for what BotW 2 could end up being like.

    People will hyperbolically say “this is the best game ever” about their favorite games all the time, but BotW is one of few which is in the ballpark for earning that title legitimately.
    It’s not perfect, but it does a heck of a lot of things right.

      Botw is no different than any other game which is called the best game ever. It's always up to personal taste and never definitively earned. Botw is fine but certainly not the best anything ever and I've played it.

      If a game’s value is based on personal preference, wouldn’t it stand to reason that an objectively good game is one consistently favored by its players? And wouldn’t Breath of the Wild be the best in class, with its countless perfect ratings?
      Yes, technically speaking, “best game ever” is completely opinionated. But just because you don’t personally believe something to be true doesn’t mean the public opinion can’t be strong enough that it essentially becomes fact.

      @CaindogLover 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@CaptainWobbs People who give it soaring ratings don't look at what is missing ie good puzzles, story, and characters. Sure it does some of its other stuff well but without those things, especially actually good puzzles/dungeons it certainly can't be a good zelda game at the very least. Unless you are a platformer like DK I don't think you should be allowed to get away with this level of lack of story/good characters and get praised either.
      With your example that would be like if a vast majority of the world suddenly decided strawberry ice cream was the best flavor. Would that make it fact? As long as some people still disliked strawberry I don't think so. Just because it is a majority doesn't mean it is the truth. All it means is it is very easy to find people who agree with you.

    • @CoralCopperHead

      @@CaptainWobbs No, because there is no such thing as an 'objectively good game' in the first place. For example, I find Dragon Age to be a boring slog with no redeeming qualities in its gameplay, music, world, plot or characters, and the majority of people love all of those things. It cannot be 'objectively' good when we're discussing an inherently *_'subjective'_* matter.
      Sorry to get all Encyclopaedia Brown on anyone, but the entire argument is about semantics, so I don't see any other reasonable approach.

      I think it can be agreed that E.T. on the Atari is an objectively bad game, but that’s not technically a fact. The general consensus has grown strong and plentiful enough to make it a pseudo-fact. The same sort of thing applies to the Super Mario Bros. movie. On the other hand, people seem to have a much harder time agreeing on something being objectively “good”, regardless of how strong the popular opinion is.
      I don’t know about you, but that’s fascinating to me, just as a phenomenon.
