I love my GoldenEar BRX with (AMT ribbon tweeter based on the heil) and my upgrade to the PS Audio FR5 (planar tweeter) is WOW! The FR5 also hits a low 30s Hz like the Monitor Audio, and it's more compact at 14 in instead of 17 in. And the FR5's sealed subwoofer instead of ported like the Monitor Audio means no chuffing and no fixed Hz tuning. ------ Source=Apple Music lossless quality
I got myself a set of Gold 300 5G speakers on sale for less than these new Gold 100 6Gs. Absolutely in love with them - spend hours just sitting and listening to my library.
How would you describe the sound signature of the gold 5G, I’m seriously considering the gold 200 5G , massive price reductions on this 5G range right now
@@hclandscapes Large, clean and immaculately rendered are the first things that come to mind. Really gives an impression of the speaker ‘disappearing’ and just being surrounded by music. Build quality is exceptional and really feels like a lifetime purchase. I upgraded from the Monitor Audio Silver series and am blown away - in particular the differences between the Silver's Aluminium dome tweeter vs AMT tweeter in the Gold's and how it removed some of the listening fatigue on longer listening sessions.
Things have changed so much. I remember when the smallest speaker in our audio group back in the 80s. Was a 8” woofer. Now 8” are among the largest, and sound great.
I did shop and compared the Gold 100 6G to the Mission 770"s. I chose the 770's. The list price of the 770's was a tad more and I did like the sound of both of them. To my ears, I preferred the tweeter of the 770's and I thought it performed better off axis as well. Never thought for a moment, until this review, to consider the Gold 100"s for my home theater room. Especially with the range of what Monitor Audio provides with most of their speakers to accommodate home theater use. Thanks again for another quality review Andrew.
@andrewrobinsonreviews Thank you for you work 🙏 And I have a question As someone who has also heard the Silver 100 and the Gold 100 Is the Gold 100 worth the extra investment? And how far is it from the Silver 100?
One of the drawbacks of Monitor Audio is the amplification association to be used with. I know that no one listens with anyone else's ears, but I still strongly recommend listening to the Gold with Advance Paris A10 Classic or with Roksan Attessa Streaming Amplifier or even with Roksan Caspian 4G Integrated Amplifiers. Thanks for your approach to one of my favorit speakers brands
One year ago Andrew (paraphrase): The new KEF meta could be my favorite speaker of the decade. Now Andrew: I'm kinda tired of KEF's sound. PROOF Andrew is still an audiophile. 😉
@cwfutureboy I can't believe I am saying this but I do think that I am enjoying the KEF sound as much as I used to.I am with Andrew. It has started to sound like it is missing a little something...I said it missing a little sweetness. I am not sure how to describe it. Maybe if I tried throwing some really clean power with some headroom it might add that missing thing I am looking for. Best of luck to you with your KEFs enjoy what you have until you don't lol
The last time I listened to the Gold was the last generation with the ribbon tweeter. I was able to audition them side by side with the Silver 100 and while the Gold was easily more composed at all volumes and more purely crystalline in it's sound the Silvers were more natural and realistic up until the point they started to distort which the Golds never did. Brass instruments and things like the harmonica just sounded too polished and unnaturally refined from the Gold compared to the Silver. Like someone sanded the realistic but rough bark off a log and tried to tell you that's the way it came out of the woods whereas the Silver presented you the log as it fell. Don't know how the new ones would compare though but I'd like to hear them.
Andrew, dont take this the wrong way, but just an observation from one who has been there and continues to reside in my own hearing issues. You mentioned that the Kefs were a little unexciting these days and you liked a more shall we say "palpable" sound. I have sustained some upper level hearing damage from big guns in the military and other moronic endeavors with unprotected hearing, This has left me very sensitive to speaker brightness and some upper level loss however, Now I find a speaker with more detail and dynamics raise my excitement level and enjoyment of music. I think what may be going on is that as one's hearing ages, a more exciting speaker gives your ears a bit of a kick start because our responsiveness to stimulation starts to lag a bit. Not to say we still cant make accurate judgments and correctly assess sound, just the ears enjoy a little more stimulation. In my example, I love my Proac Response 1sc speakers but when I compare the Cabasse Murano speakers the difference in the highly detailed and dynamic Cabasse raises the bar. Your preference in the kind of sound you like to hear just may be an age related canary in the coal mine like the gray hairs that crop up in your beard. There are worse things that can happen, just be glad you are getting up on the green side of the lawn.
Hello from Ottawa 🇨🇦 👋🏻 15cm of snow last night, just got in from clearing it with the snowblower, feet up and ready for another fantastic review from Andrew and Kristi. Happy Sunday, everyone.
Andrew love the reviews, We need you to reach out to Dennis Murphy at Philharmonic Audio. Would love to see what you and Kristi think about his HT line or the BMR. I think the HT line is a next level speaker.
Thanks! Quick question Andrew. Well 2, but to start. Would u put more budget into the speakers or components. I.E. Elac 3.0 for 450 and a recommended 1200 dollar integrated. OR ..just an example, Lumina 2 for 1300 dollar and something like the SVS Soundbase /AXA 35 for 350 or so on sale .. Not exactly the same price to the dollar but u get the idea
I consider speaker and power equally important, so you always want to make sure the amp you have or are looking at is capable of driving the speakers you want. Case in point: I am currently wrapping up my evaluation of some Radiant Acoustic bookshelf speakers, which I've discovered are quite power hungry, as a result they don't really work well with, say, my Audiolab 7000A. Now the Yamaha 2000A, different story, that's a more suitable power match, though it's almost double the cost, despite the Watts not being all that different between the two amplifiers. Lumina IIs aren't quite as thirsty so you likely can get by with "less" expensive options, like an Audiolab 7000A or similar. Elac 3.0s are a little more hungry but they cost less so you could spend a little more on say a Rotel, Audiolab or Emotiva separates and be in good shape and still, maybe, under what a pair of Lumina IIs and even an SVS Soundbase would run you. Hope this helps!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews sounds like, as long as the power match is there, u could do either either way in the case of Elac 3.0/Lumina 11s, my gut, is to find a valu-ish Amp that can comfortably power Luminas, vs a great Amp for the Elacs, but its a tough call. Even on aesthetic, some of these nicer components are as fun to look at as well finished loudspeakers ! Maybe some research into which is worse for resale (expensive speakers vs expensive components) cause I tend to switch things out after a few years out of my own, mental sickness lol.
This is all to add a traditional 2.1 music set up to go along with / Alongside my HT set up. I SHOULD actually hate u for being responsible in a way for getting me into all this. I read ur review in like 2011 or something, on the Paradimgn Monitor 7 V7 when u worked at whatever publication it was, I bought Monitor 9 towers, the center/surrounds, and that strangely shaped Goldenear Forcefield 4 sub (wish still had it) Shame that Paradigm wont play nice anymore, I liked there signature somewhat dark sound in a brightness world. Of course I got bored, and moved on to a Klipsch 8000F based system, didn't like it, Polk R600 system, better. but for HT, EVEN after those 3 very well-made HT systems (SVS PB2000 And 2 in ceilings at one point as well), my HT nirvana, especially for Atmos and WOW effects, has been the damn Sonos Arc Ultra with the 300s and Sub 4. I miss the deepest end of the PB2000, otherwise, (and I had enough power, a Denon 3xxxx then Onkyo 5100 was plenty for any of those 5.1.2 systems), the Sonos plays with just as much SPL when pushed, It's physics-defying how good the bars have gotten , and I reckon it's the software/special sauce tuning that is making the Spacial/Atmos difference vs. an AVR just pumping out the raw Atmos track.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Specs arent everything right? Lumina are rated at 86DB/4 OHM. Elacs are 87/6 Ohm. by the specs, the Lumina should be harder to drive.
Great review! Love Monitor Audio! I was looking at these before the Cabasse Murano Alto’s popped up on sale for 50% off. Talk about sound stage, clarity, dynamics and just a beautiful speaker, the Cabasse sound is blowing me away! Of course, those speakers were originally about $7,200!
Beautiful speaker! And nothing wrong with wanting a little salt and pepper on your speakers Andrew! I get the comment about KEF. They are a great tool to analyze other gear (I own a pair myself) but sometimes you just want some seasoning!
So glad you did this review!! I'm trying to decide between these new Golds and the Platinums. (G300s and P200s respectively). You've done both now, so it's a big help. Thank You!
I think this is almost for sure the sweet spot in the line , a 3 way speaker with that kind of tweeter for that price is not bad at all, I am not a big fan from metal woofers or mid-woofers or with metal on them in any form or shape, (still think paper is kind ), but what it counts is the end result i guess, great video, For good AMT type tweeters look at audiovector also , even their cheapest line never get nasty .
My ear loves an active speaker. Thanks for your review and I have to get in to hear the Titan once again (having gotten two t-shirts with the revolution evolution logo).
@@andrewrobinsonreviewssecond that! Love the slightly brighter sound that brings character, prefer the silver series over Kef Q series, would be great if u can get to test out the Sonetto V G2! 🙌
Monitor Audio and I go back a ways. I’ve trialed models multiple times during purchasing cycles and always liked the MAs but they never won. No doubt great speakers but always the bride’s maid. Closest I came was the Gold GX300 probably 15 years ago, I went to the shop to buy them, and walked out with Paradigm Signature S8s lol. Maybe one day I’ll finally buy a pair, they always looked classy.
Great review. 🎶🤩 So happy you liked the 100’s Love the Gold 100’s myself as well. Compared to the Platinum 200 3G’s / My impression was (with the right equipment) the Platinum’s imaging and transparency are clearly evident and are a significant improvement over the Gold. However they are significantly more expensive as well. Absolutely agree when comparing I feel the Gold is an incredible value. I have paired the Anthra W10 and 12 with both the Platinum 200’s and the Gold 100’s. I highly recommend this subwoofer 🔊 series. Confirming, for sometime now, I have not been a fan of Monitor Audio subwoofers. The new Anthra, however, is a new animal altogether. Highly impressive, very musical and pairs extremely well with both models. For the Platinum and Gold Series I recommend looking at the White color option. It is absolutely beautiful and in both the Platinum and Gold, the finish is not glossy. Also, for stereo pairing with a subwoofer, I would suggest testing a lower crossover point than 50 to 60 Hz. I tend to like and prefer a crossover point in the mid 40Hz region. This allows the speakers performance to be fully realized, while allowing the sub to fully focus on its task at hand. There is nothing wrong with a higher crossover point, there is an audible difference however which some of you may prefer. Bearing in mind several factors are at play hear that will dictate the ideal C.P in your listening environment. Room size, listening location, speaker distance from wall etc etc etc ☺️ Cheers
Excellent review! I was eyeing these for a while. They're absolutely stunning! I will say I absolutely love the design of Monitor Audio more than just about any other hifi brand outside of a handful of boutique brands. And I'm also someone who loves AMTs. I'm impressed my the resurgence of 3-way bookshelf monitors over the past few years and the number of releases this year. I feel like we're in a golden age of hifi as far as companies pushing the envelope and I hope folks don't take it for granted. There are so many good 3-way bookshelf options across the price range from Kali audio, Elac, Wharfedale, KEF, Monitor Audio, and others. I have two questions for you, good sir! 1. Is the increased excitement in the MA over the KEF due to lifted upper mids or lifted treble? I find I am very sensitive to boosted upper mids from 3KHz to 5KHz but am comfortable with lifted treble. 2. Have you heard the Wharfedale Aura 2? Thanks!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews as several comments already suggested, we would love to hear the comparison to our beloved Silver 100's in the Unplugged. We love what you guys do for us and how much you two helped us to explore the world of HiFi. Thanks Kristi and Andrew!
Good morning A & K! As I look at these, I cannot help thinking 20 yr old Warfedale Jade. To me, for a third of the $, the Silver 100 looks much nicer(obviously don’t match sound). Great review regardless!
Hello fam!! Love your videos, your opinions, back and forth between y’all, just good stuff. Longtime listener? Watcher? Anyhow, appreciate you guys, keep it up! Happy Holidays! ❤️
Would like to see a shootout between these Monitor Audio and B&W 705s3 Sig, Perlisten R4B, PS Audio FR5, Dynaudio Special 40, and Arendal 1528. They seem to be the popular speakers here on TH-cam around this price range. 😊
@sudd3660 in my country the price for 1528 slim and for MA 100 gold 6 is the same...step up would be 1528 monitor...but in this case the price is even higher🥴
Agree with the point you made re kef, I went with the monitor audio just in the gen prior to this and haven’t felt the need to look at anything since, I will say they sound better the more power you can give them so the better the amp the more you will get out of them
The Gold speakers are definitely compatible with a wide range of electronics, which is rare among higher-end loudspeakers. But you can also grow your system with them, making them a one-and-done type of speaker.
Finally! Been waiting for this one for a while. Great review Andrew! Question: How is this speaker for low level listening? Specifically compared to the Yamaha NS-2000A that you reviewed. And in general, since they're the same price, at least here in Europe. Also now that you've reviewed the MA Gold 100 6G, I'm sure you know you have to also review and compare it to the Arendal 1523 Bookshelf 8, that's also a 8" 3-Way. 😊 And I would appreciate it if you tested which one plays louder the best (ie without distortion/compression). Cheers.
Good morning. You don’t have to convince me, I’ve loved my Bronze 100’s since they arrived and at less than $500 for a pair (the light gray and white) I’ll probably hold onto them for a while. But ohhh would I love to try the gold.
I currently have the Silver 500 7Gs paired with Rotel RA-6000. I am considering getting the Gold 300 as an upgrade. Any thoughts on whether the extra $ for the Gold over the Silver is really worth it ?
Another Great review and comparisons. Have you auditioned any Arendales? The Arendal 1561 monitors is what I am looking to audition for replacements of My KEF R3s. What do you think about the Arendal for a comparison. But after having the R3s for a while now, I think they are missing something....a little sweetness. Lol
🙀 3 way bookshelves 😻 Most everything is beyond my budget and my current rears are 2 way but I've been an advocate for Manufacturers giving us more 3 way bookshelves and centers. Andrew, could you do a comparison of best current 3 way and maybe even entry level 3 ways so we can get all the 3 ways together 😊 Thank you, have a great day and get Kristi in there a little more, always gets interesting 😅❤ Also, how about more side by side comparisons of speakers specifications and test results. It's really hard to piece together comparisons like these. Appreciate what you do 🫂
The best 3 way bookshelf speakers for every budget for me are: Edifier R2850DB (powered) Wharfedale EVO 4.2 Wharfedale Linton. KEF Q Concerto Meta Wharfedale AURA 2 KEF R3 Meta Monitor Audio Gold 100 6G Arendal 1523 Bookshelf 8
I’ve personally found the Bronze & Silver 100’s to be bright and quite fatiguing. The Gold 100 6G’s frequency response would possibly indicate a less ear piercing experience up top… would you agree that the new Gold’s are significantly less bright than Monitor Audio’s lower tier offerings? Regardless, MA make some of the finest looking, most design-forward speakers on the planet! Their stunningly good looks never cease to amaze me.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Currently using the B&W 705 S3s, which replaced my KEF Q150s, running on the Marantz M1 which were both purchases heavily influenced by your's and Kristi's reviews. I have no regrets with either.
Positive comment: Andrew this is an amazing channel and keep up the awesome reviews. People in this world can be negative for no reason but i wanted to say something positive to offset one of them.
Hey Andrew and Kristi I just came across this singer and was impressed by both her voice and music!!!!! Have you guys heard of Karen Souza's album essentials?????
I wish I could afford some of this equipment you review. I do listen to all of y’all videos it has helped me with my setup keep up the excellent content! What about budget I really wanna upgrade my bass is 2 subs a major difference over 1??? I’m using all Klipsh reference premier but still pumping my old sub that came with a box system
Andrew your reviews make all speakers sound great. I bought the Klipsch then the paradigm then the pro ject 5S2 , where do I stop. Listing to you I got the Emotiva Basx range. Now I am after the xpa range. Got the Marantz model M1. The cinema 50. Please compare a wide range of speakers so I can feel I made the right choice.
Since you mentioned the Titans, I’d be curious on how much of a downgrade in sound quality and sound stage the SVS ultra evolution towers would be, which are one step down in the price tier from the Titans. Thanks for the video!
Good morning A&K. Great review as usual. Monitor Audio a brand that always seems to provide good bang for the buck. Any chance you can convince Paul to send you a pair of PS Audio Aspen FR5's to review? Would love to get your take on them and their planar ribbon tweeter. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
I don't want to speak out of turn, but I believe Kristi was talking with PS Audio recently. I don't know where the conversation is at this moment. Hopefully, she'll chime in and give y'all an update.
They go down to 32 Hz but you felt you had to add a subwoofer, so my question this week is; have you been spending too much time with Carl recently? I have to say, the materials and build quality of Monitor Audio speakers is always impeccable, so they enhance your home as well as your tunes. Speaking from experience, Monitor Audio speakers with Arcam Class G AVR's (or JBL) make a great combination for films. Smooth, powerful, linear, never fatiguing, lovely, revealing and DIRACable
Hi Andrew and Kristi ! Can't wait to hear you in the next unplugged ! I recently bought a pair of Monitor audio gold 200 5g (200w 4 ohms) that are awesome. Using them with Cambridge audio CXN V2 has a streamer/DAC and Cambridge audio Azur 840A V2 ( 200w 4 ohms). Thinking about my next upgrade while I listening all your good videos. I would like to know what you thing would be the best improvement for me. Upgrading the streamer for the Eversolo dmp A8 (I would like DSP fonctions) or upgrading the integrated amplifier for the Rotel RA-1592MKII (350W 4ohms) for more bass power/control and potentially a better DAC. I'm open to other suggestion of what you thing would be well suited with theses speakers. Thanks ! Jérémie
Hi Andrew and Kristi! How would the following speakers compare one to each other: - Bowers & Wilkins 801 D4; - Yamaha NS-5000; - Monitor Audio Platinum 300 G3; - Dali Epikore 9; - Sonus Faber Amati G5; - Focal Scala Utopia Evo; - Martin Logan Renaissance ESL 15A? Thanks!
Nice Speaker, nice review! Curious how they compare to the Arendal 1528, also 8" woofer. But if the Marantz M1 can drive them, the Fosi za3 could too, same power. Also interested to see a Radiant clairity or buchardt E50 review :)
Thanks for the review. I think at this price point, the focus of a bookshelf speaker shifts more towards looks and built quality. and I feel that having only 3 finishes available kinda defeats the purpose.
When listening in small environments, bookshelves (standmounts) will give the environment less room gain (especially when paired with a stereo pair of subwoofers)
I'm very curious is you all have every looked at reviewing more subwoofers. Particularly REL Acoustics. I own three REL subwoofers and they are far and beyond the most impressive audio equipment I've ever encountered. Love the videos.
Excellent video. I'd love to hear your insights on whether the Monitor Audio Gold 100 6G speakers should be more or less pointed toward the MLP. This setup could improve the clarity of the central image and improve the depth of the soundstage. What are your recommendations for toe-in testing? Thank you! 👏
Another great review, Andrew! Powered by the Yamaha RN-2000a and the SVS sub, how would you rate the Gold 100s against the admittedly much more expensive Yamaha NS-2000a? If the cost-no-objective choice is the NS-2000, but ultimate difference maker is price/value, what about the NS-2000s against the Monitor Gold 300 or 500 6Gs that you showed?
@ I know how XT B100 sounds, I own them at the moment. I just wondered if 100 gold are different / better? I know that Andrew is a big fan of new Martin Logan line, hence I wondered which he would prefer?
I know it’s been a while since you did the review so may not be able to answer, but how would this compare to the Mofi SourcePoint 8’s as they both have 8 inch drivers?
I heard the new gold 500 6 g and it certainly performs well perhaps comparing that to the titan would be better. also have you ever reviewed focal sopra 3 im not sure how to choose as there are alot of amazing speakers out there. cheers
I have the 100 5g, after several months of waiting for that there we go, nothing happened, I've tried with many amps and to my dismay they are back in the box .. However I tried to reproduce the sound I listened to in the demo, it just failed . It's a very good speaker and goes better with the foam bung, I just didn't get the wow . My silver 10s still keeps the party buzzing.
Would it pair well with cambridge audio exa100 or it could be little edgy on top. I would go with exa100 and ma 50 6g if that isnt to analytical and cold combo.
I have a emotiva xpa 7 with a onkyo tx rz 3100 pre pro. Any suggestions on new speakers? I have klipsch rp8000 mark II want to step up in quality. I am a double amputee so towers are out. I have some other stuff to sell a@ well.
Who here is waiting on the Arendal 1528 review?! I need an ‘end-game’-ish setup MA Platinum and the sealed SVS 17s for th ultimate 2-channel and HT setup. Or the new Arendal 1528s? With Rel subs? Waiting for the review to figure this out!
But a review can't tell you how they sound in your own room and/or if you like their sound signature. You have to listen to them for youself and make the choice based on that. The only thing a reviewer can tell you are what they like about the speakers and how they sound in there room. I hope you find the right solution.
@@chrisvand2678agreed. I’ve had multiple occasions where I’ve gone to the store to get a particular speaker and left with something else after auditioning. In fact I don’t think it’s ever gone any other way for me 😂
Hey, I love yall. Do you need higher end equipment to make a clear soundstage? I have an mrx720 with focal aria 936 towers and it’s just not doing it for me in the soundstage department. What can I do to improve this? I’ve moved my speakers as far apart and as far into the room as I can. My room is a 2 story living room nightmare for audio. I’m working on it. Thanks!
@andrewrobinsonreviews Ok. Thank you very much! Have the Silver 100's on a set of ss-6. And a Yamaha A-S1200 power them. You inspired me to get the Solidsteel's. Such a wonderful speakerstand. Have a nice day. Love your work. Oddis from Norway.
Oh goodness these sound good but I would probably stay away from these, these are actually 4 ohm rated do they probably dip lower with a sensitivity of 86db. But I am tempted! I bet they sound amazing, that in room response is pretty solid.
I'm going off topic here, but man have anyone tried/tested or heard a demo of the new SVS sub 17 ?? I hope Andrew can get a test model and review that monster. 😅😂
Great video (hair looking good my friend). I caution against anybody buying these speakers without listening to them. Andrew hit it on the head, these are not as bright as BW 805/705 but not as rolled off as Kef r3. Now I am a 54yr old who did a bit too much partying... and starting to loose my high freq hearing. So to me... I NEED a Bright speaker. ANDDD by Andrews mention of "phase he is going through"... dont panic... but you are starting to NEED brighter speakers like me. Love the richness of Monitor midbass, but even with Monitor adding an AMT... not bright enough for me. MAN... I REALLY wish these high end books would have selectable trim resistors between binding posts or high freq trim dials. On separate note.. JBL L100 ($2400pr) and JBL L52 ($1000/pr) have high freq dials... so you can set yours to fit your ears.
You can always fill the stands with sand or something similar to make them really heavy, then use blue-tack putty to "hold" your speakers to their top plate more securely.

The quality of the videos improves from one to the next, which seems impossible. Congratulations... and thanks for the videos.
Thank you very much!
man I love this channel!
Thank you!
Great Sunday Everyone !
Yes! So good to see you.
@ so good to have one of your videos before starting the week!
Hey!
@@KristiWright hey Kristi :)
What did you for the breakfast yesterday?😅
Thanks for your detailed review.
Thanks for tuning in. Hope all is well.
Those Kanto stands look great with these Gold 100s!
Glad you reviewed these. These are exceptional speakers for the price. Very refined sound imo❤
OR ..just an example,
Lumina 2 for 1300 dollar and something like the SVS Soundbase /AXA 35 for 350 or so on sale ..
I read ur review in like 2011 or something, on the Paradimgn Monitor 7 V7 when u worked at whatever publication it was, I bought Monitor 9 towers, the center/surrounds, and that strangely shaped Goldenear Forcefield 4 sub (wish still had it)
Shame that Paradigm wont play nice anymore, I liked there signature somewhat dark sound in a brightness world.
I miss the deepest end of the PB2000, otherwise, (and I had enough power, a Denon 3xxxx then Onkyo 5100 was plenty for any of those 5.1.2 systems), the Sonos plays with just as much SPL when pushed,
It's physics-defying how good the bars have gotten , and I reckon it's the software/special sauce tuning that is making the Spacial/Atmos difference vs. an AVR just pumping out the raw Atmos track.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Specs arent everything right? Lumina are rated at 86DB/4 OHM. Elacs are 87/6 Ohm. by the specs, the Lumina should be harder to drive.
Wow!!! they are very pretty😍
I think so too!
I am happy with Monitor Audio Silver 100 7g Speakers for my setup
Great review! Love Monitor Audio! I was looking at these before the Cabasse Murano Alto’s popped up on sale for 50% off. Talk about sound stage, clarity, dynamics and just a beautiful speaker, the Cabasse sound is blowing me away! Of course, those speakers were originally about $7,200!
Beautiful speaker! And nothing wrong with wanting a little salt and pepper on your speakers Andrew! I get the comment about KEF. They are a great tool to analyze other gear (I own a pair myself) but sometimes you just want some seasoning!
You get me every time, Marklar. Have a great rest of your day.
So glad you did this review!!
I'm trying to decide between these new Golds and the Platinums. (G300s and P200s respectively). You've done both now, so it's a big help.
Thank You!
Coffee at the ready. Cool stuff.
Me too! Great loudspeaker on deck for you today!
I think this is almost for sure the sweet spot in the line , a 3 way speaker with that kind of tweeter for that price is not bad at all, I am not a big fan from metal woofers or mid-woofers or with metal on them in any form or shape, (still think paper is kind ), but what it counts is the end result i guess,
great video,
For good AMT type tweeters look at audiovector also , even their cheapest line never get nasty .
My ear loves an active speaker. Thanks for your review and I have to get in to hear the Titan once again (having gotten two t-shirts with the revolution evolution logo).
Thank you for joining us today, Lonnie.
Great video. Would love to see how this stands up against the Sonus Faber Sonetto G2.
I hope to bring you that comparison someday.
@@andrewrobinsonreviewssecond that! Love the slightly brighter sound that brings character, prefer the silver series over Kef Q series, would be great if u can get to test out the Sonetto V G2! 🙌
@andrewrobinsonreviews Thank you! Patiently waiting 😄
These are Amazing looking speakers. Great review
So happy you liked the 100’s
Love the Gold 100’s myself as well.
Room size, listening location, speaker distance from wall etc etc etc ☺️
Cheers
Thanks!
I still love my Monitor Audio Silver 500s.
The Silver line is excellent, too!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews as several comments already suggested, we would love to hear the comparison to our beloved Silver 100's in the Unplugged.
We love what you guys do for us and how much you two helped us to explore the world of HiFi. Thanks Kristi and Andrew!
Please try to compare to the Silver 100s although I know you returned them a long time ago. thanks
Good morning A & K! As I look at these, I cannot help thinking 20 yr old Warfedale Jade. To me, for a third of the $, the Silver 100 looks much nicer(obviously don’t match sound). Great review regardless!
Another great review! How big of a jump are the Golds from the Silvers? Is it like the KEF Rs vs Qs?
Hello fam!! Love your videos, your opinions, back and forth between y’all, just good stuff. Longtime listener? Watcher? Anyhow, appreciate you guys, keep it up! Happy Holidays! ❤️
Thank you so much! We appreciate it.
Would like to see a shootout between these Monitor Audio and B&W 705s3 Sig, Perlisten R4B, PS Audio FR5, Dynaudio Special 40, and Arendal 1528. They seem to be the popular speakers here on TH-cam around this price range. 😊
Is that all? LOL.
@@andrewrobinsonreviewsno 😂 that's not all 🙀 the more the merrier, right? It is almost Christmas 🎄 😊
the 1528 Slim 8 is almost half the price, 8" woofer 3way. at least for me in my country.
@sudd3660 in my country the price for 1528 slim and for MA 100 gold 6 is the same...step up would be 1528 monitor...but in this case the price is even higher🥴
Gorgeous looking speakers in that finish. Great review too Andrew! I know it's been a minute, but how do these compare to the Mission 770?
Agree with the point you made re kef, I went with the monitor audio just in the gen prior to this and haven’t felt the need to look at anything since, I will say they sound better the more power you can give them so the better the amp the more you will get out of them
The Gold speakers are definitely compatible with a wide range of electronics, which is rare among higher-end loudspeakers. But you can also grow your system with them, making them a one-and-done type of speaker.
Please consider doing a video on late night listening taking into account your previous reviews and please mention SPL levels if possible.
Cheers.
Yes! I would be also interested in this.. thx
Nice review 🎉 and you sounded like Kevin Spacey 👂
Hey Andrew! Are you going to be reviewing the new Dali Rubikore 2 bookshelf speakers? Be a good head to head for the gold 100.
Appreciate what you do 🫂
The best 3 way bookshelf speakers for every budget for me are:
Edifier R2850DB (powered)
Wharfedale EVO 4.2
Wharfedale Linton.
KEF Q Concerto Meta
Wharfedale AURA 2
KEF R3 Meta
Monitor Audio Gold 100 6G
Arendal 1523 Bookshelf 8
@dragonstone6594 thanks for the list suggestions 👍
I’ve personally found the Bronze & Silver 100’s to be bright and quite fatiguing. The Gold 100 6G’s frequency response would possibly indicate a less ear piercing experience up top… would you agree that the new Gold’s are significantly less bright than Monitor Audio’s lower tier offerings? Regardless, MA make some of the finest looking, most design-forward speakers on the planet! Their stunningly good looks never cease to amaze me.
Awesome breakdown. Thanks for some cool and useful data.
Now to suppress the FOMO.
Glad you found the video helpful. What speakers do you currently have?
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Currently using the B&W 705 S3s, which replaced my KEF Q150s, running on the Marantz M1 which were both purchases heavily influenced by your's and Kristi's reviews. I have no regrets with either.
Positive comment: Andrew this is an amazing channel and keep up the awesome reviews. People in this world can be negative for no reason but i wanted to say something positive to offset one of them.
Thank you, Gregory!
@@KristiWrightYou're very welcome Kristi! I was compelled because i ❤ this channel so much.

How would the following speakers compare one to each other:

- Yamaha NS-5000;
- Monitor Audio Platinum 300 G3;
- Dali Epikore 9;
- Sonus Faber Amati G5;
- Focal Scala Utopia Evo;
- Martin Logan Renaissance ESL 15A?

Nice Speaker, nice review! Curious how they compare to the Arendal 1528, also 8" woofer. But if the Marantz M1 can drive them, the Fosi za3 could too, same power. Also interested to see a Radiant clairity or buchardt E50 review :)
great review as always, would love to hear your opinion on the Elac Concentro S503, Merry Christmas!!
Have you covered the Monitor Audio Apex series? Thoughts?
Thanks for the review. I think at this price point, the focus of a bookshelf speaker shifts more towards looks and built quality. and I feel that having only 3 finishes available kinda defeats the purpose.
When listening in small environments, bookshelves (standmounts) will give the environment less room gain (especially when paired with a stereo pair of subwoofers)
I'm very curious is you all have every looked at reviewing more subwoofers. Particularly REL Acoustics. I own three REL subwoofers and they are far and beyond the most impressive audio equipment I've ever encountered. Love the videos.
They endured some unfortunate bad behavior from REL reps in the past.
Excellent video. I'd love to hear your insights on whether the Monitor Audio Gold 100 6G speakers should be more or less pointed toward the MLP. This setup could improve the clarity of the central image and improve the depth of the soundstage. What are your recommendations for toe-in testing? Thank you! 👏
I wonder how the tweeter grill affect the off axis radiation pattern of the Golds?
Another great review, Andrew! Powered by the Yamaha RN-2000a and the SVS sub, how would you rate the Gold 100s against the admittedly much more expensive Yamaha NS-2000a? If the cost-no-objective choice is the NS-2000, but ultimate difference maker is price/value, what about the NS-2000s against the Monitor Gold 300 or 500 6Gs that you showed?
How do these compare to the Martin Logan motion bookshelves or even the motion XT F200 towers
how do these sound compared to the Silver 100? I find my silver 100's a bit bright, are these smoother or less bright?
Can you coment about the pairing of a naim atom wirh these speakers?
I wonder how they compare to Martin Logan XT B100?
ML XT B100 have fantastic transparent detail and a bit more bright on upper end. IF that is what you are looking for... and great for $1600 pr.

I know how XT B100 sounds, I own them at the moment. I just wondered if 100 gold are different / better?
I know that Andrew is a big fan of new Martin Logan line, hence I wondered which he would prefer?

I have the 100 5g, after several months of waiting for that there we go, nothing happened, I've tried with many amps and to my dismay they are back in the box .. However I tried to reproduce the sound I listened to in the demo, it just failed . It's a very good speaker and goes better with the foam bung, I just didn't get the wow . My silver 10s still keeps the party buzzing.
How about a Naim Átom to power these speakers?
Would it pair well with cambridge audio exa100 or it could be little edgy on top. I would go with exa100 and ma 50 6g if that isnt to analytical and cold combo.
What about canton speakers?

MA Platinum and the sealed SVS 17s for th ultimate 2-channel and HT setup.

Great point, I have serious problems hearing especially dialogue 😢
Any suggestions for dog-proofing stand-mounted loudspeakers?
You can always fill the stands with sand or something similar to make them really heavy, then use blue-tack putty to "hold" your speakers to their top plate more securely.
