    Of course, this is true for us in this life; the temple shows it clearly. There is no mention of death in the temple, and we cannot with any validity relegate these great blessings of upward progression to a time after death. Even though there will be progression and the gaining of higher blessings after death as well; there is ALWAYS more and progression never ends.

    Over the past 6 years I have learned and been guided down this path. I know that the things you speak of in this podcast Meghan are true. I have experience many of them after much trial and spiritual research. I have come upon these things because of proxy saviors who took it opinion them selves to share and teach me. I then sought for my own u estranging and for the spirit to testify to me of the truth of these principles.
    These things are not taught in Sunday school as far as I have attended Sunday school. It seems that they are shared by others. Is this the way? We can find them in conference talks and other sources, however for me it wasn’t until I was invited by the spirit / my proxy saviors that I started to see these things in the talks.

    I’ve been pondering this episode and about progression and how we are currently incapable, at a Telestial state of being, of thinking Celestial. It makes me think of the stages of child development. A child who can run had to master several prior skills and stages prior to being able to run. They had to learn and master how to crawl, then how to stand, then how to walk - all before being able to run (and there’s many skills to be learned in between those). A child can’t go from laying on the ground to running without progressing and mastering the skills in between. While the amount of time spent in each stage of development may be longer or shorter, every child will and must go through and master each stage of development before moving on to the next. It is the same for our spiritual progression. Line upon line, light upon light. And the Lord will help us in our progression, which will be as fast or as slow as we are able to learn and master the necessary skills and knowledge which we need to progress onward and upward.

    I have enjoyed your videos. I appreciate the point you mentioned the eye for an eye form of justice. Justice and Mercy must exist-their perfect balance is only done from the divine. I love how Jared Halverson has been pivotal for me in considering the contrarys such as Justice verse Mercy, or love vs law. Another awesome place that has helped me see the balance of such important aspects of existence was a talk by Cleon Skousen where he points out the content in Alma 34 and Alma 42 (v13 🤯) also the talk Justification and Sanctification by Elder Christofferson. Maybe you’ll like them too.

    I have a question: If most of us are in a telestial state of being, and when the Savior comes at the Second Coming the world will change to a terrestrial state, well those in a telestial state be burned? Or in other words, do we need to be in that terrestrial state already before Christ comes and ushers in the Millennium?

    • @lddisciplespodcast
      @lddisciplespodcast  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      My understanding is that we need to be transitioned into at least a terrestrial estate before we can be prepared to endure Christ’s coming. That said, ideally we will be seeking a celestial state where Christ’s coming will be to us as an individual prior to His coming upon the world.

    If receiving the Holy Ghost is the spiritual component to baptism, what is the confirmation? We often speak of baptism and confirmation as two distinct, essential, saving ordinances. Do both of these ordinances have spiritual components?

    • @lddisciplespodcast
      @lddisciplespodcast  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      This is a great question and one with a lot of depth. If we were to be confirmed by someone of celestial stature and if we were adequately prepared, then we would have the capacity to be given and receive the spiritual baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost in that moment. Where most all of us have not ascended to a terrestrial or celestial level yet, I believe our confirmations primarily serve us the invitation to pursue our spiritual development so that we can eventually receive the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost directly from Jesus Christ. When Joseph Smith spoke of baptism of water being essentially useless without accompanying baptism of fire, he spoke of the actual spiritual reception of the Holy Ghost, whether it be by the laying on of hands by one who holds the spiritual power to bestow it or through receiving it later through the ministry of the Savior. I hope that makes sense!

    Hi, these are lots of great thoughts. Thanks for connecting verses and teaching meanings.
    I just wanted to suggest, it would be a lot easier to listen and focus if we didn’t have ads popping up every five minutes in the middle of a sentence. (I wish TH-cam could time their ads at a topic break!) You might consider asking for donations as an alternate funding source rather than monetizing through TH-cam with these terrible ads. I was listening to you talk about meeting Christ when all of a sudden another woman’s voice popped on, talking to men about erectile dysfunction is crass terms.🤦‍♀️

      Thank you for your feedback! I'm going to expose my ignorance here...I have no idea how to turn off ads! I'm not making money on them, nor do I want to. I've googled how to do it but I don't even see monetization options in my studio - I'm so sorry! I'll keep working on this!

    Listened to this about 3 times.
    When you say, we suffer for our own sins because we don't allow the Savior to suffer for them. I think that means we dont repent and receive the spirit back in our lives. Right? And also I don't think you are saying we must have the baptism by fire and the 2nd comforter before we die. Right?It's just a continual progression right? Also if we receive the baptism of fire we will definitely know it. I've had many spiritual experiences during my life and I know I was directed what to do. That probably doesn't count as a baptism by fire right? I was a little surprised when you said we were mostly all Telestial. If we are constantly repenting and feeling the spirit, are we still Telestial?

    • @lddisciplespodcast
      @lddisciplespodcast  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      D&C 19 “Therefore I command you to repent-repent, lest I smite you by the rod of my mouth, and by my wrath, and by my anger, and your sufferings be sore-how sore you know not, how exquisite you know not, yea, how hard to bear you know not.
      16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;
      17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;
      18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit-and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink-
      19 Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.
      20 Wherefore, I command you again to repent, lest I humble you with my almighty power; and that you confess your sins, lest you suffer these punishments of which I have spoken, of which in the smallest, yea, even in the least degree you have tasted at the time I withdrew my Spirit.” From this we learn that the withdrawal of the spirit is not even a portion of the suffering we may abide if we do not repent and receive the grace that Christ offers us.
      It is my understanding that this life is the time for us to prepare to “meet” - be joined with, be made one with, be unified with - God. We will not be prepared for that at death unless we receive the necessary endowments of grace in this life. They are the transition points through which we become terrestrial and then celestial. That said, I do believe progress is an eternal possibility, although the nature of that progression may change.
      The baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost is a landmark life event. Those who have received it can recount the moment in time when they found themselves at the feet of the Savior and were changed by Him. This change is far beyond a self improvement or the result of individual effort. It is a change impossible to be made by the individual, and only received through Christ. It is remarkable, godly, and unmistakeable. And if it hasn’t occurred for you yet, that’s ok! I testify that it can, and it will upon your offering your whole soul, obeying every word of God to you, in His perfect timing. ❤️

      The baptism by fire and the Holy Ghost will happen each and every single time you feel the Holy Ghost in your life. It is a refining process, and not at all a singular event. That process of being "refined in the fire" is referred to many times in the scriptures. It isn't a singular event, and although there may be a first time you remember it happening to you, the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost can happen every week at the sacrament table, every morning or day or night in the scriptures, every time you serve and feel God's love and approval through serving your fellow beings and the Holy Ghost testifies that's it's of God. Please do not ever think that you have not had the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost before if you have ever felt the Spirit of God confirm to you His reality. 💯🙋
