  • Meghan is joined by Mike Crowley to discuss an apocryphal text from 2 Esdras known as "Ezra's Eagle." Topics include:
    - Breaking down the Ezra’s Eagle prophecy
    - Possible interpretations of future events
    - Comparing the books of Daniel and 2 Esdras
    - Preparing for future events
    Michael Crowley is the "crazy guy" who started the "Ezra’s Eagle" Facebook group.
    Mike was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Guatemala City North Mission from 88-90. He's also served in numerous callings, including Seminary Teacher, Ward Mission Leader, Elders Quorum President, Ward Clerk and many others.
    The Ezra's Eagle Facebook group strives to create a space where members can discuss topics pertaining to the Second Coming, particularly those elaborated on by Michael Rush, from a faithful perspective. The group has expanded its range of gospel topics as we’ve grown, even discussing some pretty strange things like those found in the Book of Enoch.
    Mike and his wife have raised their family near the City of Redding in Northern California. They have four beautiful daughters, a cat, a dog, a love bird and now a bunch of chickens.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m going to listen to this again and again. I take a lot of serious medicine so I tend to fall asleep. It’s not your fault, that’s the problem with this medicine. I have been seriously ill for the past few years so I have to take things slowly. BUT I am super intrigued by the ideas you have presented. So, as I said before, I shall listen to your podcast a few more times to get it all in my head. Thanks again 😊

    I'm a bit late to this podcast - but enjoying it a lot. I also just joined the Ezra's Eagle Facebook group. I first came across Michael B. Rush's book, 'A Remnant Shall Return', during one of many Covid-19 lockdowns (don't get me started on that!) - and it was a transformational experience for me. I'd spent most of my life assuming I wouldn't be alive to see the Savior return, due to all the things that still had to happen, prophecies to be fulfilled, etc. What I've realized is that I, along with too many other Latter Day Saints and Christians of other faiths, have been asleep at the wheel - and that many of these things have already been fulfilled; that things are much further along than we thought - and none of us are as prepared as we'd like to be. For the first time in my life, whilst I still don't want to bet the farm on it, I'm openly entertaining the notion that I could be alive to witness the Savior's return. As to whether events unfold exactly as Michael Rush says they will, he could be right on the money or way off the mark. But how they happen is not as important as the fact that they WILL happen. In that sense, I'm willing to take his words on faith and keep an open mind. If nothing else, he certainly gets you thinking about these things on a much deeper level...

      The best way to really get a good picture of these characters just like the lost tribes or other mysteries is to read the prophets of the captivity, both captivities. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Nephi, etc and look for each of their accounts. They all saw our time and described it from their own visions and experience. When we compare them side by side details stand out that increase our understanding of them. This is something Michael Rush does in spades. His books are basically compilations of his own study notes paired with his analysis. While we might not agree with a conclusion we can see how he arrived at his and then take it from there. I did that with the last feather of Ezra’s vision. Also with a date and opinion he shared in his last book. Many of his conclusions are theory and theory is good. It lets members experiment upon the word with the aide of the Holy Spirit to guide. It’s so much different than pure speculation. What did Joseph Smith do? He asked a question and the Lord answered, then he asked a deeper questions and received deeper answers. If our goal is to read through the scriptures quickly to complete them we will. If our goal is to understand them on a deeper and more personal level we will.

    If you pay attention to revelation 13 verse 11 That’s when it’s speaking of the second beast after the antichrist, and it’s described as two horns, these two horns are the same two feathers at the very end. Thus proving that the first Eaglehead is the same little horn in Daniel seven.

    • @EzrasEagle
      @EzrasEagle 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is some confusion on the beasts. I’m sure you probably witnessed that in Sunday school once or twice last December. In this particular vision Ezra starts out with a beast that comes up from the sea as an eagle. (Compare with Revelation 13:1) That beast eventually goes through all its kings including the 3 heads (Daniel’s three horns) which each have their own kingdom thinking to rule indefinitely. Eventually these all pass away except for the last two feathers which were detached and placed under the last head on the right, which Ezra says are the little kingdom full of uproar. So sequentially they come after the eagle and burn it with fire. (See Revelation 13:3 and 17:16-17 and chapter 18) This is what makes Ezra’s Eagle comparable to an event count down clock. Daniel describes this two feather kingdom as being diverse also (See Daniel 7:24). Ezra sees these two feathers set alive in Judgement at their end (Compare with Rev 19: 20) after Babylon is destroyed by the first of them (see Rev Chapter 18). John describes this little kingdom as coming up from the earth (replacing the eagle it was removed from. See Rev 11-12). I hope this helps differentiate those two from the three heads/horns that preceded them. Think of one of the heads having three horns receiving a mortal wound and being replaced by this new set of rulers which supplants it and restores rule over the rest of the beast kingdom and the nations it controls. This is what these last two do. These two feathers are and the restoration of Israel that will confront them are what these prophets were trying to warn us about. I highly recommend reading Daniel 11 by Michael Rush for a clearer picture of the relationships between all these important visions.

    • @endlesselders5039
      @endlesselders5039 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@EzrasEagle - The 2 last feathers do not burn the Eagle with fire, they all get burned and are turned to vapor!
      - Your incorrects about the feathers coming after! First of all rev 13 is a summary of daniel 7 and dan 7 is a summary itself, Ezra 11-13 is the heart and holds the most! In Ezra it says that the heads ARE THE LAST, There will be no more wicked in all the world after the heads!!! That last two feather rule under the last head, which is the 2nd beast in rev 13. This is where everyone gets things wrong. Everything has to fit inside of Ezras timefram and not the other way around. The LORD clearly states that the heads are the END!
      - The last 2 feathers have nothing to do with israel. America will be slit with an earthquake and they will rule on the east side, while Zion will be in the rocky mountains. Daniel 11 has ALL been fullfilled!!! I suggest you read that rather then a sleeping saint who doesn't even keep the basic commandments!

    • @EzrasEagle
      @EzrasEagle 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I love your passion, but you may want to hold off on this being the year of everything finishing up. That’s a little tight for the time period needed to allow for the requirements of these visions to take place. The math and current events just don’t support this theory. The big problem fir Ezra’s vision is that the understanding of it has been divorced from its context. There are literally hundreds of theories about it now. Few ho back and look at the guy who first solved the problem of what Ezra saw. That is where the context is explained. Its not about an eagle, its about the gathering AND the restoration of the House of Israel and the fulfillment of God’s promises to her. That is what Ezra’s vision counts down to.

    • @ballardfx1140

Ezra’s and Baruch both state about the son of Man and Baruch tells you when he appears same with Daniel, chapter 2 and it states that it’s before the end, and the end starts with the very first Eaglehead ruling who is next.

    Beautiful interpretation of Ezra’s Eagle. It is close. Here are two things that need to take place before the Second Coming.
    The LDS Church is still under condemnation.
    “And by this you may know the righteous from the wicked, and that the whole world groaneth under sin and darkness even now.
    54 And your minds in times past have been darkened because of unbelief, and because you have treated lightly the things you have received-
    55 Which vanity and unbelief have brought the whole church under condemnation.
    56 And this condemnation resteth upon the children of Zion, even all.
    57 And they shall remain under this condemnation until they repent and remember the new covenant [D&C 42: 22-26 and D&C 49: 15-17], even the Book of Mormon [Jacob 1-3] and the former commandments [10 Commandments] which I have given them, not only to say, but to do according to that which I have written-
    58 That they may bring forth fruit meet for their Father's kingdom; otherwise there remaineth a scourge and judgment to be poured out upon the children of Zion.
    59 For shall the children of the kingdom pollute my holy land? Verily, I say unto you, Nay.
    (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 84:53 - 59)
    What has not happened yet is: “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
    13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.”
    (New Testament | Revelation 6:12 - 13)
    And the armies of the nations will gather on the “mountains of Israel” to fall upon her and there will be a great earthquake that will destroy these armies [See Ezekiel 38-39] and for 7 months Israel will bury the dead of these armies and 7 years Israel will burn the weapons of war. Is this the same earthquake described in Revelations 6: 12-13? I think so.

      Are these two things mutually exclusive? From studying the learning of the Jews, scriptures can have multiple layers of meaning simultaneously. There can be a surface-layer literal interpretation, a figurative or allegorical meaning, and a cosmic layer all happening at the same time. Take Revelation 10:1 for instance. It speaks of a "mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud" which could be, on a certain level, literal. A personage like Moroni comes down in a cloud of glory. On a second level, it could be describing Saturn imagery, combined with the world mountain. I think, in the Gentile mindset, the "correct" interpretation must always be this-or-that, when multiple things could be true and make sense within the context of a given chapter (and that's how the Jews think). Anthony Larson seemed to have something of an understanding of this based on statements in his books.
      In the case of Ezra's Eagle, there may be a cosmic layer and a symbolic layer that predict something yet to happen in the endtime. I'm not defending Michael Rush by any stretch here. I think he has a lot wrong, precisely because he's unwilling to consider the cosmic aspect (and he has a weak understanding of Isaiah). But I also wouldn't call him totally wrong either. I think he has some of the right idea. Ezra's Eagle as a parable for America does fit fairly well from intertextual clues within the scriptures, even if it doesn't provide the full picture.

      @@jandjhirst all the symbolism used in Ezra's Eagle is ancient and based on cosmological events which stops you from jumping the shark like Michael Rush has done. All cultures have developed accounts using this symbolism in increasingly cleaver ways which get further away from the source which is why the Apocrypha is not recommended. Learn about the real creation events and you will avoid this confusion.
