Hey bud. Just a little correction to your comment about spicy food. Ped mai = this is a question that the person will ask you to determine if you want your food spicy. You have to say = Mai Ped, this means "not spicy". Of course there are tones on each of those mai as well. Ped mai will have a rising tone, and Mai Ped will have a falling tone. Hard to explain but defiantly say Mai Ped.

You're funny. I enjoyed this very much. I've been to Thailand lots as a close friend had retired there. He reckoned his house keeper's favourite word was 'Yang'. The convo would go something like - "Housekeep, can you arrange XYZ for tomorrow please". Come tomorrow and close to the appointed hour, "Housekeep, did you arrange for XYZ today?" - "YANG!" would come the reply...meaning "Not Yet". So if you've a housekeeper or arrange something with someone and you hear "Yang" when you ask about progress, it means 'no progress'. Lol!

I am Thai but I first didn't understand "Yang" until I read the whole comment. Yeah, Thai can procrastinate due to chill attitude or "Sabai Sabai". I love Sabai attitude but procrastination drives me nut. That's something I have to keep in mind since I am retiring and retiring to Thailand 😂😂😂

That ATM Card tip is GOLD! I lost 2 cards in less than 7 months! Fortunately was able to get the second one back because I used the ATM at a bank in the mall. It would have been so difficult if I were unable to get the second card back. I have several options now though, thankfully!

Thanks bro and I learned a few things. I would like to add my ten cents worth.
    1. look 69 ways before you cross the street lol
    2. You are better off having the cab turning on the meter and tracking your destination discretely on your phone. while they take you there.
    3. Try not to buy to many thing without a price on them or at least see a regular local person buy it first
    4. Do not carry excessive amount of cash on you. Unless you really need too
    5. Take a picture on your phone of where you are staying at...Just in case you or cab get lost.
    6. If you eat a lot of street food. You might want to take some charcoal tablets. This to absorb and speed up any type of food stomach issues you might have. The charcoal abosords it, and yes it's safe....Liquid charcoal is what they use in the hospitals. When they pump someone stomach. Too get the poison out
    7. If you can, you might want to carry some type toilet paper with you. Do not smaller places will have it.
    8. You might just need two pair of pants. If you go Pattaya area or even most of Thailand. It's hot hot.
When I stayed for 30 days. I had no idea you could not drink the water there until my last week. Luckily, I did not get sick or this could just be some foreign bs story about the water.
Got a question my brother. Why you sound like an Asian granny when you speak Thai? I'm just messing with you. lol

I have a question for you Mr. Ashley: Of all the SEA Countries, which one would you travel first and last if you are new to Traveling? I want to travel to as many as possible, all in 3-12 months to get an 'overall view' of each one. My Intuition is telling me Malaysia [because of Singapore being clean]. I'm 56 years old. If you are checking directions, don't let policemen help you. They collude with the tuktuks and you get taken to somewhere you don't want. I just wanted to cross the river, they took me to where they were selling 2 hour river cruises for a lot of money. I just wanted to cross the river! I finally walked somewhere and managed to cross on a boat that seemed like it could sink at any moment.

All that to say I have a place I can have things shipped to. Coming from the states I don’t want to use my cell phone and AT&T won’t unlock my phone cuz I haven’t paid it off yet. You suggested downloading Lazada to get a cell phone I can use while I’m out there to put a SIM card in. Do you think that’s the best move or should I just go somewhere and buy it when I get there?
