We south Indians know Hindi but if it is forcibly imposed on us we will rebel against it. We think English is a better link language which not only connects us with neighbouring states but also with almost entire world.
Thing is, people of Tamilnadu are already speaking 2 languages, Tamil and English. Now they are asked to learn a third language. Whereas Hindi speakers, can speak only Hindi. Because of the inability of Hindi speakers to learn another language, non Hindi speakers are being asked to learn Hindi.

English is the common language which South Indians are promoting , if we learn English as second language we can travel the world, if we learn Hindi as second language we can work only in India.
