Overall good analysis..but I don't agree with your assumptions for the 1st 2 cases when you compared good and bad freebies. You just deliberately assumed things to prove the objective. For eg, 1. what if all the graduated students leave India and go to any foreign countries. in this scenario 1st case can be a bad plan. 2. Due to free electricity more people can start farming which will increase production, exports and create more jobs..this case can be a good plan.
So it's better to take virtual cases to explain a logic instead of drawing conclusion on real scenarios/cases. There can be several factors which can impact a real scenario..
Anyway you are doing great job..keep it up 👍

@@sarthakdas5924 well for foreign going students. NRIs sending money back to their parents or relatives in India is a significant amount of foreign money that India receives. You can check the data on internet. Well for farming he surely said that it isn't bad. It's just that that freebie wasn't managed well. Farmers weren't educated on what to crop. He just pointed that government didn't planned it fully.

And with TFR of 1.4 outward migration of young people population collapse is coming in 10 years(TN median age is already 35 years) . I have studied in a government school with freebies of Cycle, Laptop, books and even 5K after completing 12th. Our government is focusing more on education so that the life of the person would change significantly so I support freebies for education, women empowerment and farmers! hahaha,,, we continue to get freebies and happy to get a software job, If the same money is spent on research in EV's or getting a lithium mines in Africa from our government, just spend on copying tesla and reengineering, give subsidies for copying and making EV's cheaper like China, we will get lakhs and lakhs of manufacturing jobs , software jobs doesnt need a government push. We missed entire industry and crores of money and just happy with 1000 software jobs which will come any way even if that freebie is not provided. Thats the difference between us and China. Freebies will only be helpful for just few lower middle class people to upgrade. There is no merit or non merit freebie, Freebies are dangerous for a lower income countries. SOuth korea only provided freebies after it became a middle income country. Software engineer, Doctor, excpet those what are other jobs??????????????? The cycle of poverty will never stop

How many Indians can get software jobs. If they get laptop freely, Can a person of jharkhand get software job?, he will never get. Because south india already dominates on software industry , so we refer and get jobs, hardly a few. After AI comes in lots of software jobs will go away, then what to do. Did our politicians innovate and try to get new industry? Our politicians are making us fools by giving freebies. Even if that laptop is not given for you , you will get that software job. But if the amount spent on free laptops for everyone, if they would have used that in research or copying like China did with EV industry, giving subsidies for 15 years, entire EV and solar industry would have been in India. How many textile companies are closing in tirupur, how many of our medical equipment are made in china, Our TV screens are made in China, Our laptops are made in China, we should be ashamed to have 1.4 billion population and buying every product from China while feeling so happy to get one software job which you got though hard work. All freebies which we are getting cycles, cycle parts, laptops, TV LEDs made in china. How much trade deficit India has with China????

Some freebies are just political eyewash, but there are other freebies like midday meals in government schools, bus pass for students, scholarships, easy loan for women entrepreneurs are some among the freebies that actually powered the growth of Tamilnadu regardless of who wins the election. First, understand the reality and learn to speak the truth. I am a Tamilian and studied in Tamil Nadu government schools from paaal vaadi ( elementary ) to +12th standard in Tamil Medium. I stood school/district first during my time. Here is the real truth about DMK's victory in Tamil Nadu.
      1) Tamil Nadu is the hub of Christian and Islamic missionaries. They have so many colleges and schools and brainwash kids from childhood against their own culture. They are funding DMK.
      2) All churches and mosques together work very hard and consolidate 100% vote to DMK ( 18 to 20 % of DMK's vote comes from them)
      3) The rest of the 10 % vote comes from the old generation people who were part of the party for multiple decades. They can't think beyond DMK or ADMK.
      4) 4 to 5 % of the votes came from the corrupt government employee families who benefited from the corruption.
      5) Having so much traditional vote bank, at this time DMK got 26% votes only. This is due to the massive dent created by Annamalai.
      6) Kamaraj was the only CM till now TN people are talking about. He was the first one to introduce free mid-day meals and opened elementary school nooks and corners of Tamil Nadu.
      7) Kamaraj's intention was noble, but just to counter him both Dravidian parties introduced multiple freebee schemes to bribe voters, Karunanidhi gave free color TV and 2 acres of land too as a poll promise to win. Since I am from a very poor background I received all these freebies (even if we didn't ask for them), and all of the freebies were given after 80% corruption with very poor quality. All Dravidian counselors, MLAs, and Ministers have become super rich but all educated families still remain poor in Tamil Nadu.
      8) All the freebies/reservations received by people were continuously shamed by DMK-spoken persons. If you ask anything about their corruption they will put you down as a freebie receiver and reservation candidate.
      9) Even for Annamalai, a PSG, IIM, and IPS candidate, multiple times DMK ministers, and spokespersons called him as a reservation candidate.
      10) For the first time in TN politics, people see an alternative option through Annamalai. Very hardworking honest Tamilians are expecting a change.
      11) All corrupt, tasmac Tamilians are in panic ( they know they will go to jail if Annamalai comes to power).
      12) This election tells the truth that both DMK and ADMK vote share have come down. Another 5 to 10 % vote share difference will make the political power change.
      13) Both DMK and ADMK were alternatively winning as 20% of people didn't like both of them. Currently, drugs and liquors have been part of every family issue in TN. The arrested international drug mafia was a DMK leader for foreign affairs. 80% of the liquor factories are owned by DMK ministers. These are the facts about the Dravidian model. Just open your eyes. Think about country in the long term, not about what freebie I received. Currently DMK is bribing every women in TN with monthly 1000rs. TN has become the number 1 state with maximum dept in India.

The main reason why TamilNadu is a very good state to live in is because people here, even though left inclined, are never extremes or radicalized. Even though I am Gujarati, I've never, or perhaps barely had any bad experience with my Tamil friends and the locals (a few rowdys are everywhere so we cannot blame an entire state for it). Tamil people are very sensitive about their language and I personally believe it's the right thing to do, because Tamil remains the only major language from our culture which could not be stolen or manipulated by British people. Also it's a very fun and easy language to speak. In short, TN is far better than UP, Bihar, West Bengal and 95 percent indian states because we have the best people (Tamils and non Tamils) living in harmony 😀.

I am from TN, I am a 80s Kid and we used to get free student bus passes from home to school. This has greatly reduced our parents expenditure given that the only bread winner is my dad and he is a blue collar worker. The PDS where we used to get subsidized kerosene, rice and wheat also contributed how much my parents will allocate money for their kids education. You might ask why mixer, grinder and fan. Let me tell you how buying a mixie in my house hold cut down our time to make food in the morning. It gave my mom extra 30 mins of rest so that she doesn't have to wake up as early prepare food by hand in a stone mill and doesn't drain her energy level. Personally we didn't get those freebies but it does help. I am not going to say all the freebies are good and I can say some of the policy decision are questionable, but it helped where TN is currently and increased the educated workforce either it is school, college, ITI, Polytechincs etc. In a way, I am glad that other states are waking up but I wish they can also take care of birth control to achieve where TN is now.

Some of the freebies are contracted to own party members and is a conduit for corruption. TN politicians are motivated by corruption rather than wellbeing of the community. Then Nehru and Gandhi family along with Kamraj built many institutes, dams and other projects. Freight Equalization policy was another scheme which TN benefited maximum. TN had a head start, it is not about DMK or Bjp. Today TN stagnating due to regressive politics, lack of cosmopolitan city, huge debt financed by state liquor shops, 2nd highest slums in India. State hasn't evolved in high end manufacturing. KA has already surpassed TN from RBI with lesser population. Current growth rate TN may be pushed to 5th. Education quality is poor, they don't clear IIT or NEET. Congress just gave too many low quality college approvals for TN taking money. Well, my education was greatly empowered by the Government free services like the free student travel pass, (I personally used it a lot during my school days). It made my reach of schools wider and now I am well settled in US with a really good pay. One thing that would be very obvious is that almost all of the north Indians you meet in US are from a well established family, (like father being engineer, or high positioned government employees, and mother being doctor etc.,) but the Tamils that you meet in US will be of a variety of backgrounds. My father is a farmer and I'm from a really really small village, I'm the first graduate of my family tree. That is the power of providing opportunities, government while acting as a business should also provide services (which will incur expense without apparent returns).

The comment section is the proof for the effectiveness of so called freebies… Heart warming to see how millions of our people have moved up in life because of these schemes… as an NRI living in UAE, I have seen for myself that many tamilians from government school background working in top positions in both UAE government and private sectors, just think about the remittance they bring into India…

Thank you Think School for the case study of Tamil Nadu. For quite sometime i have been studying the history of south India and specially the state of Tamil Nadu and recently, i have visited the state and i was very impressed in terms of education, health care and social justice. Though there has been ups and downs with different government parties, over all they have done an outstanding work which has been an exemplary for all the Indian states. Your case study has helped me to understand better.
Hats off to the Tamil Nadu Government and best wishes to all the Tamilians.

The mid day meal program was a big game changer along with others. If you ask old people they will say they went to school just to have mid day meal , because they were so poor, But they in turn did complete the schooling which was a ripple effect of the generation getting educated and the next generation just keep improving. The free laptop should have been covered.

when the previous cm of tamilnadu dr kalaignar gave out free tvs i was a kid and i asked my dad out of all things we dont have why a tv this is what my father said, neraya makkalukku naatu nedappu therila adhellam theriyanum(meaning most people in this state at that time were ignorant of general knowledge which was apparently a subject in upsc exams and people should have facilities to get it)
    found it inspiring from then..
