While it makes sense to compare the top model, but very low % of people are buying the top model of these cars because most buyers are middle class and they look for most VFM variants, so the value quotient can really differ as the base model of Xuv is also much cheaper than these, so do your research before buying any particular model and don't just go for comparison videos because most of the time they don't tell the whole picture.

Mahindra will take years to deliver base models, while they start delivering they will hike the prices. Very cunning.

When you compare the VFM variants, XUV is a clear winner with AX5. The rear seat space is more beneficial than the boot space.

With Mx3 also, 3xO makes a clear win. It comes with cruise control , and much more everything practical. The only missing thing is the rear wiper and defogger.

As a Mahindra customer since 12 years, I can assure few things: The after sales has always been really good for me, never faced an issue with the service centers in Jeedimetla, Hi Tech City as well as Kothaguda in Hyderabad, the service quality has been good and the spare parts are available on time and are mostly available within 1 - 2 days, maximum 4 - 5 days. The service costs are also genuine and acceptable, and the progress of service by Mahindra over the years has been tremendous, something which Tata is desperately lacking.

My experience has been worst with Mahindra. I have seen a lot of problems with the issue of getting parts and problems that Mahindra cars have is hardly found in any other brands. As far as Indian brands go their service is as worse as it can get. Be it Maruti, Tata, Mahindra. The only profit of taking Maruti will be no parts issue. Meanwhile their service is also not upto the mark.

Finally someone started to talk about the Sonet swinging vertically! If you ask me, the engine, performance and gearbox doesn't really matter if you can't utilize it due to poor stability.
With family on-boad, driving above 75kmph and the car picks up any minor undulation on the highway and swings up and down, to a point where the focus will be only on keeping the car stable and not enjoying the beautiful performance on offer.
It's one of the worst cars I have driven on a highway and forget the segment, I'm comparing with a 18year old Swift, a brand new Tiago EV and a 3 year old Ciaz. Sonet is behind by a huge margin. Not everything is about the spec sheet.

I also had the same dilemma. Now from July 1 - Kia has launched GTX version which is top spec (GTX+) minus the ADAS level 1 and Bose sound system. And it’s 1 lac cheaper than GTX Plus ex-showroom. Petrol DCT model for GTX will be 15.7 lacs on road compared to AX5L 15.4 on road - so they are comparable. I would prefer Sonet for its overall finish, looks, like-ability and practicality. If you want performance and long term reliability - Sonet Diesel Automatic is the Go to version. On road GTX Diesel AT would cost 16.8 lacs.

Hi guys, As a reviewer I have something to make you understand that if you change and drive cars it doesn't make sense. I mean if one of you drives all the cars you will get an exact idea of how the car is running and you can judge the different parameters of the car like how it is running, the refinement, gear shifts, smoothness of the engine etc. But in this case you people are switching between yourselves for driving which you cannot judge about the cars, that personally i feel like that really doesn't make sense at all.

Kindly do not follow their advice, they take the top models for comparision and do not even consider the manual variant, only a handful people will buy a compact SUV for 18 lacs.
Consider your own criteria, whats more important for and priortise likewise, for me 1. Safety 2. Reliability (close 2nd) 3. Fuel efficiency 4. Ride quality 5. Build quality & durability 6. Features (Music, Seat etc) 7. Service/spare part cost
Never follow someone's advice if they advocate a car becos it has a Panoramic sunroof, its the most useless and dangerous feature on car, do your research.
IMO, Nexon gets you the best VFM below 12 lacs, 3XO's AX5 is good above 12.5 lacs, Sonet is for DCT, but it will be costly maintenance wise, Sonet actually is built on i10s platform, thats why it doesn't feel stable at high speeds, is compact inside and only engine is refined, refinement maynot correlate with Engine reliability or durability, it depends on many other factors like cylinder block material, precision of parts, technology used, Nexon and 3XO use MPFI tech which is old technology and reliable, that also gives more mileage, every engine vibrates, NVH in hyundai-Kia is done at international standards, double dampening is done, Nexon has poor fit and finish so that sound and slight vibration may reach inside but these are all overly thought out, in real life one won't realise this in day to day use, hence the sales of Nexon.

Boot space is a practical ask and is must.. you will feel bad when you aren’t able to carry sufficient baggages on a trip. This is really a deal breaker.
3XO completely fails in that aspect.

I own a Sonet and I am writing this review after getting the first service... My observations... Kia is far better than 3XO and Nexon. Why? A lot of us go with the market hype and doesn't do enough research while buying... The reason I say this is because we review everything about the car but never look at after sales experience where Kia brand is ahead of the competition. With Tata the service station looks like a fish market, no doubt they are selling a lot of cars but if you visit the service station you will notice people complaining about getting low quality service and they don't even wash the vehicle properly. The same Goes for Mahindra, the after sales service experience is like taking to goons...Engine wise Mahindra is giving the best engine but they failed to do justice with the front grill and headlight, it will take time for people to get used to this design, Mahindra designers did a good job overall but the front which should look more aggressive fails to impress a lot of people. Looks wise I liked the previous generation of Nexon which was impressive but the new design looks feminine and looks like an electric vehicle. Fit and finish wise Sonet is good except a few parts which looks cheap but if you compare it with Nexon and 3XO you will notice that the Nexon do not have a proper finish and there are noticeable panel gaps, with Mahindra putting piano finish on external panel is not a good idea, it's prone to scratches and it has a few panel gaps in the front fender and at the rear bumper. Overall Sonet is better with it's snake grill and American design on the other hand Nexon looks Japanese and Mahindra looks like a Chinese made vehicle although they are Indian companies. If you want to sacrifice a couple of kilometres then go for Sonet, they have the most reliable engine provided you do not put it's engine to its limit. My suggestion to people buying a new car, take a couple of test drive of the same vehicle, wait for a week before booking it, take the test drive of all shortlisted vehicle, compare the after sales experience buy visiting the service station and talking to customers, read the negative reviews about the service station and see if the service station replied to the clients message, take your family along so that they can share their feedback, always check for the resale value of the car compared with the vehicle you shortlisted and whether you wish to experience a fish market style service station or a five star hospitality... The decision is yours😊

You nailed it with your comment. Spot on.
Nexon indeed looks feminine which is the reason for its decline in sales and the tata fanboys dont realize it as it hurts their ego.
I have a brezza zxi plus and its one of the best value for money car in its segment in terms of looks and reliability, the engine which is best in segment. Peace of mind for 10 to 15 years😊

Kia's 1.5 Turbo Diesel will put Nexon's petrol engine to shame in terms of NVH. Its a gem of an engine.

Absolutely right i too own the Sonet facelift looks wise the sonet has no competition looks like a fricking means business kinda vibes the dct is amazing to drive no lack of power and the service center experience has been so good they worry so much about the the ratings even if you give 9 rating its a problem for them!! Everything so far from the buying experience to the 1st service experience screams premium!!

@@anandhukrishna7727 exactly, I gave a rating of 9 because I feel no one is perfect but man the sales guys called me and politely asked me if he missed anything. The first service experience was amazing...they fixed a lot of things for free like a small scratch was there on the side panel they removed it, I got damping done but was not done correctly so they fixed it by fixing the door panel. Most importantly they use micro fiber to clean your vehicle... No wonder why they have selected customer base who are loyal to them. I have not met a single owner complaining about Sonet...I search is on... 😉

Why do they have to show the reviewers face when they were actually explaining the features of the cars. I’d rather keep the camera focused on the car details than to keep switching between the car and the reviewers.
