Honestly, I think there has been something in the air that has dimmed our reading enjoyment. I don’t read thrillers…too much anxiety. But I am 8 books below my anticipated reading count for the first six months of the year. I received a preordered book on Tuesday and I am loving it. I have a bunch of other preorders coming out between now and December 3. They are all from favorite authors and/or series. 🍼Here is to a non-alcoholic toast for many 4 and 5 star reads for the rest of 2024.

In reference to nicolas book Its also important to note that 29:2029:2029:2029:20 black as you know or African Americans have completely different experiences than people of color while some people of color discriminate against black and shouldn't be lumped together because there can sorted and unfavorable histories with other races and ethnicities not to mention tye never ending diaspora wars. i used to really love thrillers they lost their luster for me i may still give nicolas book a try. As i appreciate the effort from her and generally enjoy her writings.
Thank you for the comment, you are absolutely right! I shouldn’t use the terms Black and BIPOC interchangeably, and in this case I was specifically seeking out Black reviewers to hear their opinions. I’d be super interested to hear your thoughts if you do end up picking it up.

I’ve been in a slump with thrillers. I read so many that I’m thinking I’ve just become so picky. Harder to please. I tend to get fomo which governs my choices, so this summer I’m going to look further back in my tbr and pick reads strictly on the synopsis and my mood. Happy summer reading 🤞🏻
Yes, same! Hard to fight the urge to want to read what everyone else is reading even when it doesn’t fit our taste or mood anymore 🤣 happy summer reading to you too!
Yes needs a plot with great character development!!! I've been giving myself a thriller break and I've been on romance kick. I really don't want to stop liking thrillers but they aren't vibing with me currently.
Aww bummer you didn't like The Midnight Feast I wanted to check it out. I haven't had much luck with her books either but this one sounded interesting. I'm excited to read The Next Mrs Parrish I just read the Last Mrs. Parrish this month. I havent had much luck with thrillers this year either
I was really interested in the midnight feast, but I don’t know if Lucy foley is for me truly as I haven’t loved anything she has written. But I keep going back hahaha
Eesh.. books that are super repetitive like Lies Make Perfect drive me crazy. The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware did that too, and I felt the same way about it. I did finish that one, but I gave it 2 stars so it probably should have been a DNF. It’s like the author couldn’t flesh out any other details for the story but needed to hit a page count. 😬
I just finished The Next Mrs. Parrish. I really liked it, but not as much as the first one. I am trying to listen to The Midnight Feast, but not sure I will continue. I just can't seem to get into it.
