I agree. I too care about every penny I spend. It’s a lot of money for me too. But you can’t deny the value you get from this camera for what it costs. Love it. Perfect B roll for my Mavic2.
Thanks for the nice review. The latest software update helps a lot with the focusing problem and it also added a hyperlapse option in the time lapse menu.

I’ve been using Ozzie (my not-so-original pet name for my Pocket) for two weeks. The firmware was updated since you made the video, and I just love it. It is so worth the $350 US ... you’ll never leave home without it.
16:9 is available in the menus, as is the ability to focus on the background or the subject ie you when Vlogging. You could also add an external power brick to extend the time lapse ability beyond 2 hours.
A Powerbank will give plenty of extra power. I leave mine connected on longer shoots. Only shutting it off to let the device cool down every so often. Great review!

Watched the whole thing. it was pretty easy to watch because you shot this video well. the scenery, style and approach was just great. You however didn't show the panorama and the other remaining little features like what other hardware can be added to the osmo pocket to give it extra functionality. e.g mic, zoom wheel and the likes. In all i liked the video anyways. Great job

I do not have this problem with my OSMO Pocket. I Vlog daily with mine. I have bought and Wide Lens and Macro Lens from Kase, a set of ND Filters from Freewell and my shooting options are limitless at the point.
Daniel Figueroa the update allows focusing on target as well as tracking, good piece of tech, crazy how it blends with my Drone and Canon DSLR. For $349 with $79 ND Filters it’s solid.
I'm looking for a camera for my trip to Disney. I want to record and take pictures with something not too heavy. And this is exactly what I needed. Its great! I love the quality, weight, fps, portability, and so much more. Definitely planning to buy this.
THE BIGGEST PROBLEM....using the cellphone adapter. The phone thinks that the Osmo Pocket is a power source and the cellphone will end up draining the Pocket's battery. This is my biggest frustration with the Pocket, next to things not being in focus when you think they are.
Jeremy Carter just to counter that point, this is not the case with all phones. My iPhone doesn’t have that issue but I understand it would be frustrating!

The audio isn't amazing, but it's very compact and shoots great quality video. V2 is better, but this is still a pretty good camera to get started - and you might be able to find it for fairly cheap these days :) The autofocus issue has also been fixed with a firmware update since the video. There's other great options as well though so be worth looking into what exactly your requirements are

crappy video quality, stab is bad and you can see it shakes all the time, the only benefit is it's very small size, it's great for some scenarios, but if def not for me.
Everyone has different requirements. I got some really nice footage out of the device. It's not for everyone and not for all situations, but I like it over the other gimbals I have mainly due to lack of friction
I think the new DJI action camara (just announced) with advanced stabilization makes the Osmo Pocket somewhat obsolete (same price too). They're competing with the GoPro 7 at a slightly lower price point.
I have the new Dji Osmo Action and the Dji Osmo Pocket. The Osmo Action has been very disappointing. Its a good action camera, but the Osmo Pocket is far superior in my opinion. Most of my recent vlogs on my channel have been made with the Pocket.
I want it to make me toast and eggs in the morning and serenade me while pouring the tea! People are still interested to see how it compares - as was I :)
I never tried it in super low light, but I guess you'd get a fair bit of noise in the shots as it's not really made for nightclub videography. You'd likely get some cool shots, but I wouldn't solely rely on this one for the entire video
NIce review. I love my Osmo Pocket. Its become my goto camera for vlogs on my channel. I have noticed the focusing problems have almost completely disappeared with the latest firmware update. Also since adding the audio adapter and the Rode Wireless Go microphone, the Osmo Pocket has become a serious vlogging machine.
There are good deals on the Osmo pocket now, with the Pocket 2 released. I picked up the (original) Pocket a week or two ago, AUD$419 (Aussie $), they are now $399 ! (Officeworks online). I have a Osmo Pocket charging case coming (Xmas present), should make it much more useful, and I think the PolarPro tripod case and folding tripod kit is a must for on site time / motion lapse. Plan top get the PP tripod kit after Xmas, ebay stores seem best (AUD$53 with discount code).
I hoping a new version of the Osmo Pocket is better. Hope it has a removable battery and better microphones that can resist wind, as well a an option to use your phone as a screen.
Video files recorded on your micro SD card (FAT32 file system) with the Osmo Pocket can't exceed 4GB in size - the Osmo will simply create a new file if it's still recording. If you lower the video resolution or quality it can record for longer within the confines of a single file
I just bought one of these, but I use a Insta360 ONE x also. The Insta360 is amazing and it's 5.7k but rendering and workflow take more time to produce a simple video.
Added this device to my wishlist. This shoots high-quality vid, but allows the user to keep a low profile. How would you suggest it be "worn" as a body cam if I don't want to hold it in my hand?

This is a cool little unit. I don't like how the battery is not removable though. It seems that you may want to carry a battery bank with you. That's not a terrible thing because all that would still be smaller than other cameras with gimbals.
i found some that are sold used for like 40usd but honestly the quality of the videos are quite good even though this is an old model. i might buy one and use places i would not want to bring an expensive phone, camera etc

I have question for you, my Osmo pocket camera connected to iPhone took nice single picture and download on PC it looks very clean & OK, with very same picture made movie, use movie maker program & played on then it shows only on same picture data text popped up “DCIM\100MEDIA\DJI-3501JPG” Is any way can correct or resets? Doesn’t shows data text. I have limited computer knowledges thanks your help.

For your motionlapse just hook up small batter pack. Something like an Anker. Also you can get a 16x9 on the device by simply selecting 4:3 or 16:9.

As with any gimbal you have to walk like a ninja to stop the up and down movement. It's a great piece of kit and is the best £329GBP I've ever spent.
Maybe they’ll fix the minimum focus problem in their next upgrade... to me that’s a purchase killer despite its impressive performance otherwise.
The focus issue has been fixed for a while now, around the time this video went live (coincidentally)

... you do know you can change the screen to 16:9 in the settings menu in the device? No phone needed

I never tried it in super low light, but I guess you'd get a fair bit of noise in the shots as it's not really made for nightclub videography. You'd likely get some cool shots, but I wouldn't solely rely on this one for the entire video

For Android just copy the files across - works just like USB. For the iPhone I usually share via Google Drive or AirDrop
Saw the issue with your cats. I tracked my Jack Russel in the house and it followed her without an issue.

I want to buy a gimbal for snowboarding and skateboarding but because of the battery life I don't know if I want to go with the Osmo pocket I was thinking about a mobile gimbal because I have the Huawei p30 pro amazing camera and battery life good but I heard mobile gimbals are not good. Could you recommend the best gimbal for me and if it is the Osmo pocket then reply with that lol.
can someone let me know what microphone is good for DJI osmo microphone that is good for 4k walking, that doesnt capture breathing but just street noise? or is their a DJI osmo new that takes out breathing when walking with it outside, cause im having some trouble with it. or is there any camera that takes out breathing noise when walking, let me know thanks for the help for anyone that knows.

Keep my original osmo and get the x5 camera and I can run a phantom 3 battery fir hours.
This is a cool little unit. I don't like how the battery is not removable though. It seems that you may want to carry a battery bank with you. That's not a terrible thing because all that would still be smaller than other cameras with gimbals.
I like the gimbal, but yes, wish I could just bring a spare battery with me to make that part a bit less of a hassle...
i found some that are sold used for like 40usd but honestly the quality of the videos are quite good even though this is an old model. i might buy one and use places i would not want to bring an expensive phone, camera etc

Has any one else gotten a scratched lens using filters on the Osmo. After only 3 weeks , maybe 3 hours of actual use I have bad scratching.
Never used any filters on it. If they're filters from DJI I'd get in contact with their support team

Is this still worth it this 2021? There's osmo pocket 2 already but I can't afford it.
It's still a good camera on its own. The Pocket 2 is better (IMO), but there's nothing wrong with this model either :)

camera quality is similar to my Galaxy S20+. gonna stick with my Smooth Q gimbal instead 😌
If you already have a gimbal with a camera you’re happy with then you’re sorted :)

How does the phone adapter work? does it come with it or do i need to purchase one? if so from where? also can you explain how we get the videos from the device to our phones?

Not getting it because it is DJI. WIll keep looking for a japanese or Taiwanese model or european model instead.

Auto focus doesn't work properly.
Portable but Not impressive
The auto focus issue has been fixed with a firmware update shortly after this video was released
I have question for you, my Osmo pocket camera connected to iPhone took nice single picture and download on PC it looks very clean & OK,
with very same picture made movie, use movie maker program & played on then it shows only on same picture data text popped up “DCIM\100MEDIA\DJI-3501JPG”
Is any way can correct or resets? Doesn’t shows data text.
I have limited computer knowledges thanks your help.
