Just received my Gen 2 firebox last week. Cannot wait to use it when i take my daughter out for some hiking and camping trips. Very pleased with the quility of the stove.
You did a good demo of the Firebox, the grate that fits down into the Firebox also works well with charcoal on top of it, you can adjust it up or down as needed, again a good demonstration, no fuss just cook on the Firebox
Great looking food. You did a wonderful job highlighting the Firebox. Superb. I've been know. To make a few meals myself on a stove or two. I enjoyed it.
Older vid but thanks LS...nice job ta boot! You got the missus sold on it, and was wondering since my HC canteen just came in the mail today. ~ oh yeah, ya made her hungry too. tips me hat ~
Like you, I think the two Firebox Stoves are the most versatile! I have both in titanium. The Bushbox LF in titanium, however, runs a close second in my mind.
nice stove i like the dampener idea and the ease of set up ! lot of options . i like the grill plate ! and the fish looked really good great video Ben atb john
It is extremely heavy. A titanium version is long overdue. I love my nano but leave my original Firebox at home most of the time. Of course I just love the titanium stuff. My Heavy Cover canteen is one of my favorite pieces of kit.
Good review. You didn't pull out a shiny, new unused Firebox and fumble around trying open it up. Then you actually showed how well it works from experience.
Very nice review. Got the gen1. Thinking maybe feting the Gen2 now with the added feed holes on the sides. Also considering the bushbox-xl titanium, but find it rather expensive.
I love my gen 2 firebox stove too! Very versatile. I couldn't see the brand of your bag. It's nice and I'd like to research it because I want to buy a new one. Thanks in advance!
Gotta love the no pot cooking. I must show this video to my husband, he will want this for Father's Day! Trust me, that Trout will sell him on that stove! I sure was drooling for everything you cooked, even the marshmallow cocoa. Btw, that fish seasoning looked great. What kind (brand) was it?
I just purchased one of these. It arrived today but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. How long does it take this stove to cool off sufficiently to pack up into your pack?
I love my gen2.I have a whole series on my channel dedicated to the firebox.Ben when are you going camping again man!I've been watching your other channel alot!good stuff I love seeing the gear being used.I just picked up the whole Geigerrig system filter and pack strap also a few anker products upon watching your reviews. If you don't review it,it's usually not worth buying!looking forward to more as always.Take care. Bird.
Living high my friend, living high. West coast or East coast salmon?? My wife gave me a Gen2 Firebox at Christmas. My favourite stove. It is a little heavy but that is made up for in versatility. Thanks for sharing
Great video but dang man, you used a TON of fire starter! Steve only uses like 1/8 of one of those circles! Haha just trying to save you money. Keep up the good vids!
Nathaniel Smith the first time I used my chicom knockoff stick stove I put WAY too much fat wood in it to start things off. It was impressive 🤣 I used a couple of chicom knock offs for about a year and FINALLY bought my GEN2 Firebox a couple of weeks ago. I swear the other stoves are not in the same league. Steve’s stove kicks ass all day every day 👍🇺🇸
Have you ever had any problems with the hinges freezing in the winter? One of their competitors who make a slot-together stove claims one of the advantages of their stove is no hinges as hinges freeze up during the winter. I have seen you use the stove a lot during the winter and you have never mentioned this as a problem, but was just wondering if you have ever had or heard of an issue.
Ben, love your videos. I am also from Michigan (South East) and haven't been able to find places to hike that allow fires on the ground, in biostoves, etc. Any advice for finding areas to hike around here where I can use one of those? Thanks!
You weren't out in that crazy wind storms a couple days ago were you? if so you're hardcore dude! it got pretty nuts in Ann Arbor ... tree fell on my dad's house!
You can buy it directly from Firebox, or you can buy it in hardware stores in the 'plumbing supplies' section. Plumbers use it for a heat shield when soldering.
Good job on the demo Ben. Stove looks like a winner! Boy that salmon sure looked tasty. I laughed at myself when you said "there goes the wind", I thought u said "there's goes the win ", because as u said that u had gotten a nice piece of fish that was a lil charred in all the goodness ! lol ;)
A $60 hobo stove? C'mon man. The sales pitches, from all of these "survival" channels, are getting old. I'm sure you're a nice guy and all, but JC. Folks, go get yourself a pineapple can and a slightly smaller tomato sauce can from Walmart, a few stainless tent pegs, drill a few holes, and voila. The cans even nest, and you can fill them with food or tinder. Amazing.
Living Survival I don't need to make a video. There are about 8,000 videos about hobo stoves. I sincerely apologize for venting on your channel, but I'm currently subscribed to about 25 guys, that started out with really cool vids, with unique survival perspectives and hints, hacks or tricks, who have all succumbed to the Amazon kickback. All, offering very little of anything anymore, other than a sales pitch, and oddly enough picking up a degree of condescension along the way. I have been watching survival and prepping vids for well over 10 years. I just miss the good ole' days.
I hear ya, no problem venting here. I don't delete comments like some others do. Firebox isn't available on Amazon and made in the USA. It's a good product. I've reviewed many good stoves and yep you can certainly make your own. My job to show what is out there though. Hopefully my audience can see that I put effort into researching products and show a mix of high quality items in all price ranges instead of accepting the hundreds of Amazon offers for products nobody has heard of. I've done a few random videos of things I thought were quality enough to showcase but I agree there are a lot of channels using Amazon crap for filler or for profit.
Just received my Gen 2 firebox last week. Cannot wait to use it when i take my daughter out for some hiking and camping trips. Very pleased with the quility of the stove.
will last a long time for sure.
I just bought everything on their site besides the baking kit, as I'm a solo person. I also bought my brother a G2.
My absolute favorite piece of kit.
You did a good demo of the Firebox, the grate that fits down into the Firebox also works well with charcoal on top of it, you can adjust it up or down as needed, again a good demonstration, no fuss just cook on the Firebox
good to know, thanks.
Dang...I could almost taste that fantastic meal you prepared. Great video and cool stove. Thanks for the info.
thanks Jack.
Steve at Firebox Stove has some of the best cooking videos. You have done him justice with this.
i watch them all!
Great looking food. You did a wonderful job highlighting the Firebox. Superb. I've been know. To make a few meals myself on a stove or two. I enjoyed it.
thanks for watching.
I have both the gen 2 SS-5' & the SS-Nano, both are great stoves!
Great video. Meal looked good. Thanks for showing stove in action.
thanks for watching.
I like those new accessories! Great looking food BTW! Thanks Ben.
Looks like a winner. Definitely like the improvements
Good looking meal!! That's stove is bad to the ass!! I like the fact that you can bake with the zebra pot! Keep up the keeping on!!
I definitely have to try that!
That's a pretty impressive stove. Extremely versatile.
agreed. and the gen 2 offers much more versatility than the original. i had.
Sold. I'm buying one on Saturday.
Older vid but thanks LS...nice job ta boot! You got the missus sold on it, and was wondering since my HC canteen just came in the mail today. ~ oh yeah, ya made her hungry too.

Nice stove, I've got my D of E expedition tomorrow so this has gotten me in the mood
Have the stove and love it. Really does a nice job. Thanks for the video. Take care, Al
thanks Al.

Awesome review 👏 food looking amazing. I just got one of these stoves i like ut alot
I love that stove so much I own 2 lol When we go camping...you're cooking ;) That looked amazing Ben!
A feast between the two of us.
Great video. What little bottles do you use for your condiments? You have a nice set up
Nice stove. Being able to get accessories is nice. Thank you for the review
Nice review on the stove! Good cook on the fish!
thanks...i need to try some more things on it.
Nice video! I could almost smell & taste your meal, it looks delicious :) yum!
Good review. You didn't pull out a shiny, new unused Firebox and fumble around trying open it up. Then you actually showed how well it works from experience.
this is my second or third one so I have a bit of experience yes. i did a torture test on it a few years ago.
I have the vargo firebox grill and love it. I would love to see you review it Ben....
Okay now that looked good Ben! Awesome stove too. Now I'm hungry at 0230 in the morning hahaha
Love the review and video, I love the back pack where can I find one
Great review Ben, my favorite stove, you inspired our dinner! I got the Zebra pot w/the accessories, love it. God Bless, Shalom.
was a great day out for sure. a little cold but ah well, beats the couch.
Great video. And the food looks delicious! You took away my doubts on what stove to buy. Subscribed!
love the video going to consider getting the stove
Very nice review. Got the gen1. Thinking maybe feting the Gen2 now with the added feed holes on the sides. Also considering the bushbox-xl titanium, but find it rather expensive.

GO back a few videos. Savotta pack.
Thank you!!!
Great product and great video! After seeing a few of your vids I just had to hit that subscribe button. 👍🏼👍🏼
Another great review
I am in full agreement, a titanium firebox nano is on it's way as I type!
Nice, enjoy!
That is a sweet ass little stove right there man nice review
thanks for the comment. enjoy your weekend.
Living Survival you as well
Love this stove!
Me too.
Good vid, I like the Firebox stove. would opt for a pot over the aluminum.
I like the wood/ or trangia option
Well this demo sold some Fireboxes!
Thank you
great review !
Very good review. Hands down the best portable wood burning stove. How does it do with just charcoal?
never tried it with anything but wood since wherever I go around here it is always available. I imagine it would do just fine.

Great video as always. What knife were you using?
I'm getting this no doubt about it
DO IT!
Great video thanks. What's your opinion of this stove vs the gasifier stoves like the solo, debating which type to get?
I love my gen2.I have a whole series on my channel dedicated to the firebox.Ben when are you going camping again man!I've been watching your other channel alot!good stuff I love seeing the gear being used.I just picked up the whole Geigerrig system filter and pack strap also a few anker products upon watching your reviews. If you don't review it,it's usually not worth buying!looking forward to more as always.Take care. Chris and I are supposed to go this week.
What pot and lid were you using there? I like what it can do. A perfect fit for the stove.
keith titanium, a few videos back.
Living Survival Thanks for the response.
Living high my friend, living high. West coast or East coast salmon?? My wife gave me a Gen2 Firebox at Christmas. My favourite stove. It is a little heavy but that is made up for in versatility. Thanks for sharing
That was a better cooking 🍳 vid than ur firebox torture test for the first gen. Box. Lol
lol, yeah, the other test was more for the stove than the food.
I like the Bushbox from Bushcraft Essentials war more. But great video
A good stove but the firebox is superior IMO
Damn....you can come cook for me anytime! LOL
Yum! Nice vid
Delicious!
That looked tasty :)
it was SLAMMIN!
I have the Nano with the leather pouch based on your previous video. Nice setup. Maybe I need the bigger Gen 2?
if you don't mind the weight it is another great stove from them.
Great video but dang man, you used a TON of fire starter! Steve only uses like 1/8 of one of those circles! Haha just trying to save you money. Keep up the good vids!
LOL.. was just thinking the same thing.... unless you are Steve who gets it for free... YIKES!!!
Nathaniel Smith the first time I used my chicom knockoff stick stove I put WAY too much fat wood in it to start things off. It was impressive 🤣

Nope, never had that issue.
great video!! what pack are you using??
savotta mini jaakarii
That grill plate looks bend from the heat? Stove looks awesome, but maybe material to thin?
it does, you can bend it back.
I'm hungry now!
EAT!
Hey Ben, great review. You eat better in the woods than I do at home! What knife were you using?
steel will gekko.
looks great
thanks for the comment Paul.
nice video, thanks!
have you tried to use the evernew titanium alcohol burner in the firebox instead of the trangia?
nope, always enough wood around me so I don't need to carry alcohol.
8:04 DID YOU ASSUME THE FISH'S GENDER!?!?!?!?! YOU ARE GOING TO HELL!!!!!!!
Did you assume that was a Fish and not a stunning and brave water rainbow?
Ben, love your videos. I am also from Michigan (South East) and haven't been able to find places to hike that allow fires on the ground, in biostoves, etc. Any advice for finding areas to hike around here where I can use one of those? Thanks!
Typically state parks will allow camp stoves. I'm outside Detroit and just have to make due.
You weren't out in that crazy wind storms a couple days ago were you? if so you're hardcore dude! it got pretty nuts in Ann Arbor ... tree fell on my dad's house!
Nope, I was inside that day.
Living Survival It got pretty crazy out there!
That salmon looks tasteful... Ben, any recommendation where to buy the carbon felt ?
You can buy it directly from Firebox, or you can buy it in hardware stores in the 'plumbing supplies' section. Plumbers use it for a heat shield when soldering.
John Campbell thanks
08:58 was that a scorpion? It moved from right to left
Rahul Bose It was a leaf.
@@Mat-kr1nf yeah right.. Imagine babes

Awesome Video Ben, Looks like a good little robust stove
how hard is it to carry a real knife and fork? that spork is ridiculous
I love this stove, just too bad it weighs 2 pounds.
They now come in titanium so weigh half the weight but cost twice as much.
@@Martian74
Thanx for letting me know that. I will go and give them another look. Cheers.
