Diagnosed as type 2 diabetis at age 57. my dr put me on metformin n cholesterol meds. after 6months of low carbs low sugar diet i managed to get my Hba1c down to 6.7. after 3months and after 6 months its now 6.1. i have been following your channel since i was first diagnosed. now i m trying the more natural (plant n protein) in my diet and a more active lifestyle- hiking and walking. please wish me luck in my journey. btw lost about 10kgs so far. thank you dr!
There is, avoid most process foods. Such as refined sugars, carbohydrates and hydrogenated vegetable oils. Eliminate them and you will lose weight. I lost over 70 lbs in less than three years, doing just that.
I was pre-diabetic a year ago. Gave up all white flour, bread, rice, pasta and processed foods. Started exercising 6 days a week. Weight is down 51 lbs, no more pre-diabetic range and no more high blood pressure meds. What a change. Most foods available out there are terrible for you. Go natural fruits and vegetables, eat more healthy protein (especially fish!) and exercise!
Sounds great but don’t forget you have a hidden progressive disease, don’t allow carb creep, don’t get injured or let the gyms shut down on you, don’t gain weight, don’t get older and hormonal changes happen (insulin is a hormone that will be effected) don’t lose muscle mass, don’t be under stress cortisol mess with insulin. You can never get over confident… it’s waiting in the wings for anything that changes to advance while you’re dealing with other things in life. All the best
@@banderas2000don’t follow this person because fruit outside of tomato and avocado will be a problem if you aren’t in the gym 5 days a week If you aren’t working out daily any sugar is excessive sugar for you because you don’t burn it up… it will accumulate and downhill you go.
I am 65. Last March I changed my diet and began intermittant fasting and excercise. I went from 216 lbs on March 31 to 170 lbs today. Lost 46 lbs in exactly 6 months. Changes included eliminating all processed foods. No snacks. One meal per day or two at most in a 6 hour window. I never had high blood pressure or diabetes or any other adverse health condition, I just wanted to weigh less and engage in certain sports like mountain biking, road biking, kayaking and fishing. My number one benefit is extended endurance.
I'm doing a similar plan. I only eat between 5 and 8 PM. In 90 days I've lost 32 pounds. I feel much better. My goal is returning to the weight I was 40 years ago (150 lbs). I am also adding additional fiber to stay regular. I don't care what other people think about my dietary habits as several of my obese friends tell me it's not healthy to eat one meal per day. I laugh as they waddle away carrying an extra 80 lbs of flab.
This is my same routine. Keto and IF 1-2 meals. I’m easily insulin resistant, even though I was never a big carb/sugar person… I’m extremely sensitive to them
I was overwhelmed when I first was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. A friend of mine who had Type 2 told me to just read the labels if the sugar content goes over 5 gr avoid it. Made it a lot simpler and has worked for me the last 20 years.
The thing you have to be really careful of reading food labels is the portion size. Often that is ridiculously small, 1/2 a cup when you actually eat 2 1/2 cups, sometimes things look low in carbs and sugar until you realize how much you are actually going to eat. The other thing I noticed when I started looking at labels seriously was how many things you thought of as being healthy were surprisingly loaded with large amounts of sugar. The best advice is "if it tastes good, spit it out" :)
Yes, its a pain. I stopped taking sugar in tea and coffee and just drink Soda Water if I fancy a quencher. This year though my Doctor put me onto Ozempic (once a week injection) and my HBA1C is 6.1 now and came down almost immediately and ive lost about a stone-and-a-half in weight.
@@Kamandi2 We're talking about diabetes. If it doesn't run in your family you can probably eat whatever you want though you might get fat. It does run in my family. Up until a few years ago, I ate whatever I wanted. As you get older, the effects become noticeable. I strongly recommend limiting carbs diabetes or not. I think it's the reason the western world has a weight problem. IMO Keto is probably the best diet as it mimics most of what humans consumed throughout history. Cultivated grains are a recent addition beginning maybe 5000 years ago.
Im 41, Cut all carbs and sugar 4 months ago. I also only eat within a 4 hour window a day (12pm-4pm or 5pm) . Down 70lbs, no diabetes, no more blood pressure meds, no more arthritis meds. Its like a miracle. I havent felt this good in 20 years. Also Im NEVER hungry.
Shelba, Eggs cooked with butter, salmon/fish, rotisserie chicken, avocado, berries, your favorite cheeses, pecans, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, olive oil, bacon, good quality red meat. Do this for a couple months and results are dramatic. Only thing I really miss? Pizza… yeah lol hope this helped.
@@tomkenny8635 You can make almond and coconut flour pizza crusts and even cauliflower crust too! TH-cam has lots of videos and recipe for cauliflower pizza crusts.
My favorite snack: mix ground golden flax seeds into natural peanut butter and dip apple wedges in it. It satisfies all the cravings, sweet, salty, crunchy and creamy. Apples are full of fiber and the flax adds fiber and omega 3.
What I have learned? Nothing, but repetition what I knew already. It's good. Old expression in Russian says repetition is mother of learning. Thank you, doctor
High fructose and others should not be allowed in the food industry. They should have a lawsuit against them for making people sick. It should be outlawed. Thank you for your knowledge. I avoid fructose in low sugar or no sugar jams. I am a type 2 diabetic since last year. but I am trying to reverse it by losing weight and intermittent fasting.
Keep it up. It works. Avoid all wheat, any flour made products. Any processed made sweets of any kind. Avoid white potatoes. You noticed I said avoid?? I lost so much weight I had to eat a small amount of some of high Calories stuff. I was under 120 pounds. My normal weight should be 135 pounds. Now I am around 135 or less. But watch that sugar!!! Watch out for factory processed foods-- they will kill you eventually.
@@Hankyjane Thank you for the heads up. I guess I need to do exactly what you did and do in order to lose all of my weight I think now is a good time to start becoming more serious about what I ingest. Thank you.
Why is the answer to always outlaw things because they are considered to be or proven to be either dangerous or otherwise unhealthy this attitude is the very reason we have so much government intrusion in our lives people should have access to good quality information about whatever they want to eat drink smoke ect. and the same goes for risky behavior of any kind so we can determine for ourselves what and how much risk we're willing to tolerate in our lifestyle choices it's called freedom the only thing that should be outlawed is government telling people how to live
Great video. As a type 2 diabetic I dropped my A1C from 8.8 to 6.1 in 3 months. I followed a low carb diet with plenty of vegetables, 40 grams of carbs per day.
1 cup of strong black coffee first thing in the morning. For breakfast, a muffin. Recipe: 1 egg, 1/4 cup ground flaxseed, Tbs oil, 1 pinch baking powder. Stir in mug, microwave 60 seconds. Muffin won't spike blood sugar.
I'm 72 and have had it for 67 years. I would say that I follow these diet rules above 80-85% of the time. It goes in spurts with going overboard with certain foods,(potatoes & white pasta) once in a while. These are very good tips for those who don't understand this disease. Thank You, Bruce@Lancaster PA
I've had Diabetes for 55 years and have always eaten pretty smart. My job kept me walking 8 hrs a day. I had alot of hobbies that kept me active. But if I wanted to eat something I enjoyed, I did. Moderation and exercise are look eys
Going low carb does not mean giving up good food. The internet has many channels that offer delicious low carb recipes. I have collected many of them and they are a major part of my diet, and I'm not limited to just meat and low carb veggies. For example, I regularly have biscuits, chaffels, pancakes and chocolate cake that are very low carb and tasty. In 6 months I lost 60 pounds and lowered my A1C from 7.7 to 5.4. My triglycerides and LDL cholesterol are now well within the normal range. I was surprised how easy it was to give up sugary, starchy, high carb foods. It worked for this 75 year old man.
Just found this video, excellent content. I am an LPN, with Type 2, gestational diabetes x3, 68yo, hypothyroid and parathyroid issues. Most videos I watch never share amounts and most effective time of day to eat foods. Saying a "handful" is not specific enough, the difference in a female/ male hand size is significant. Signed up for your emails, appreciate the awareness you are creating and will share with others, especially my patients and their families.
Thank you. I have just learned that I am type 2 diabetic. I'm so mad at myself, AND the health care providers who never said a word over the last 20 years about what I was doing to myself...
I also blame that janky food pyramid… the whole large portion of it is nothing but carbs! Which turns to glucose( sugar). I know it’s true because the first thing we are told to let go are breads and pastas🧐
my doc said I was prediab and left it at that, then COViD hit and there were closures, canelations and such. We all went indoors and ate and ate. I Didin't realize just how much I gained until I tried my summer clothes and the button and the buttonhole on my pants are miles away from each other.
@@zrinkajelic6715 Covid is responsible for a lot of diabetes cases. After researching, I learned that 6-7 months after having Covid, people became diabetic 😩
Good onya mate. Doctors generally have little idea of nutrition but I’m pleased to be able to see you as being an exception . Doctors generally become as bored with their patients as senators become with their constituents. You cannot blame them for simply being human but you have become one of the educators. Cheers Mike
also when eating sweet potatoes.. baked, boiled or microwaved.. to lower the carb content dont eat right after cooking, refrigerate them for 24 hrs.. you can reheat them.. but after the first cook chill them..
Went a bit silly its all about right choices and moderation.....you did not need to do what you did. Dont need to go so hard core...best choice if need help seek a diabetes educator or GP or even a dietician....you did go hardcore not necessary......
Not everybody likes this plan but I follow the Dr. Gundry protocols. As soon as I say that everyone goes hair on fire about how he only wants to sell product. You do not need his products to be successful.
Kevin Snell, You're very smart! If everyone who's healthy think like you, there would be no more diabetes and other diseases in the future! God bless you 🙏❤
Bless you for taking your precious time to assist all your viewers. I wish this info was available when I was much younger, but you have helped me emensely now. All the best to you and your family.
I've never eaten these things except a tiny amount of dry fruit occasionally. Yet I was diagnosed Type 2 last year. Both sides of my family have it and I got it mostly because of a sedentary lifestyle due to cfs and fibromyalgia. I now believe these 2 conditions are a label for symptoms of insulin resistance namely fatigue which leads to less activity and subsequent stiffness and pain.
You might want to see if you've developed a sensitivity to some food you're eating. See patrick holford's book on the hidden allergies for more info - if you haven't done so already.
Tired of people telling me what NOT to eat. I've been diabetic for 15 years now. I have yet to find a professional with a flavorful, nutritional, easy and inexpensive diet plan for diabetics.
There was so much information in this video, I viewed it twice! I learned more about sweet potatoes than I ever thought possible! Great information! I am going to keep in mind all this information when I grab a snack or order any fast foods! Thank you doctor, for helping diabetics! You have helped me to learn and manage my condition.
I hope this helps someone out there. I lost 30 pounds in 6 months by only making small changes to my diet. 8 cups of water daily, Foods without added sugar, No sodas, No Fast-food, Greens/Beans/Onions/Mushrooms/Berries/Seeds-Nuts, Garlic/Ginger/Cinnamon for great flavoring, Salmon 2 times/wk, Low sugar fruits, Avocado/Lemons/Apples/Pears/Sweet Potatoes/Bananas/Spinach/Broccoli, Oatmeal 3 times/wk, 4 eggs/wk,…. and logged what I ate/drank so that it acted as the honest broker. I only weighed myself every 30 days, and only had a treat every 2 wks. I knew it wasn’t going to be perfect execution, but I forgave myself for weak moments, then made adjustments to following meals and stayed on the overall path to a healthier me. Slowly incorporating intermittent fasting during the last 6 wks also helped, but it took an adjustment period and I ended being happy if I fasted for 12hrs. After 6 months I also lowered my blood pressure to normal, and lowered my A1C from 6.4 to 4.6.
Dr, this is probably your best video yet. The message from this video is powerful, eat low carb and you get much better glucose control. Don't take anyone's word you should try and experiment. If a t2 insulin-dependent diabetic ate meat and leafy green veggies for just one month, you could reduce your insulin use by 25 percent or more. I know for me it worked because I did it successfully.
My blood sugar has run over the roof for a couple of years. And if someone asked me what food raises my blood sugar more than the others I would have made precisely the same list. Too bad I had to find out the hard way. Phenomenal video Ahmet hocam .You are always in my prayers...
Yep my blood test machine had a total overall average of 33.3 but that’s only because that’s as high as the tester went😂 So I slowly have been going blind and my kidneys shut down a decade ago🙄🤣 Ah life, such a fragile thing😁✌️

Thank you. I have type 2 diabetes There is a lot of information out there on the web about this. However, this commentary seems to be the best to reach me. I have created my own diet. I have now lost just over 45 pound's. Due to walking most day's. I have scrambles eggs for breakfast, I eat chicken salad sandwiches, I have rice with golden vegetables once per day. Then I eat roasted chicken thigh's as well. I have kept a notepad full of my weight loss through the past year. I am on one Sukkarto, 2 Magnesium tablet's, One Omega 3+ 6 +9 per day and a multi vitamin and multi mineral combined tablet per day. My blood pressure has returned to normal. I have a lot of fat or lose skin to get rid of. I also take Aloe Vera 25 mls in the morning and a couple of mouthfull's of pure Orange Juice as well. I was Type 2 Diabetic for well over 7 year's. If I can do it most people should be able to. My diet may not suit everyone though. I also eat 2 different cheese's every night. But try to keep off the Bourneville Dark chocolate as it can rot your teeth. The Alogliptin and the blood pressure tablet's have been stopped. I drink plenty of bottled water and have a coffee at 11 am with a small Bell's Whisky in it.. PC. 24. 03. 2023. PS. I was a heavy drinker for well over 37 year's due to a family problem But I have stopped drinking all beer's and lager. I have had to change all my clothe's as well. I am now seriously thinking of going to the gym.
I only needed to lose 10 lbs. from 129 to 110. After watching my carbs (white rice, white bread, white pasta, white potatoes) and with intermittent fasting, the 10 lbs melt off and stayed off. My cholesterol went down 30 points 😊.
Following a lot of this I've lost 100lb in the past couple of years. A1C is down to 5.1. All my lab results are great. After my last lab test my Doctor called me with the results and she was giddy she was so happy.
Good for you, I'm part way on a similar route, too many go to the doctors get the medication and then carry on with the same lifestyle, I didn't have much weight to lose but still managed to lose 25lbs and am going for another 10lbs which is proving hard. One thing I found with carbohydrates is that not eating them helped reduce my appetite some. As an example I could eat a steak minus the baked potato, without being hungry any sooner despite having eaten way less calories.
@@sherrygadberryturner9527 I've noticed the same recently as some Christmas treats appear and I can't resist trying "just one", as soon as sugar and carbs hit my system in any quantity I'm wanting to rummage in the kitchen cupboards and fridge for something to munch on.
As a type 2 diabetic, I follow most of this.Have lost a ton of weight incl drastically reducing belly fat ( apparently one of the worst things for diabetes). 2 hrs heavy exercise a day ( rowing machine/weights), 1 hr morning/night and drink a lot of water. All the foods the good doctor talks about leaving out,I generally do - but occasionally snack on potato chips/chocolatel ( infrequently, and only in small doses). White bread/cereals etc I simply don't eat ( processed foods). This is very good advice.
Adding your gens in with my intermittent fasting which I have improved my overall health, love st 121 lbs since July 2021, got my glucose levels to 130 & less, works ng on tightening up my gain to get A1OC To Optimum. All this should be taught in schools & in the media 24/7. I share these videos. """👌😎"""
Gracias!!!! More people need to watch ur videos. I grow up eating these foods my parents were not educated n I made bad choices. They both died very young due to diabetes. I didnt make a change in my food habits til now 45 yrs old, it's so sad what parents load up in their shopping carts all toxic food loaded with high fructose n corn syrup....they just dont know. I did the same years ago...thank you!!!
Cutting out things may be hard but cutting out lots of carbs and sugars had my Triglycerides go down a 100 points so sacrifcing sure works for me. 80 lbs off too. I suggest exercise but surprisingly for me I've not done any with these results.

Found this video so helpful. I'm going through the process of seeing a doctor for diabetes. It connects all the dots as far as what not to eat. Just ate a bowl of rice. Took 1 hour before I stopped feeling nausea, out of breath and sweating. Thanks for the video. Helps to understand the journey of a new eating lifestyle.
I am Type 2 diabetic. I do not wish to get on the cycle of medications and have instead opted for a highly restricted diet that reduces my daily carb intake to 60-70 grams per day. I have lowered my weight to 123 lbs and exercise at least 4 times per week. I eat vegetables ( no root vegetables of any kind ) at every meal ( yes breakfast too) along with a high protein source. I allow myself one slice of keto bread per day as well as mayonnaise, butter and oils for cooking and of course to keep my calories steady. I consume about 1450 per day. I have put my A1C into a normal range, lowered my blood pressure to 127/71 and do not need diabetic medication. I am 78 years old. Vegetables/protein/exercise is all you need. And of course coffee is nice too! 😂
Previously type 1 diabetic (28.5y living with it) the advice you get from this video and from your doctor/endocrinologist are right and to the point, but please as a survivor of diabetes 1, if you feel something that is not normal and has not really been mentioned by your doctor insist that they look into it, I went through almost every bad thing that can happen to a diabetic except diabetic gangrene (nerve problems, blindness even kidney failure but the one thing that I learned was there is NO ONE that knows your body better then you! Diagnosed at 2.5y old-Double organ transplant (kidney/pancreas) at 30, now 43and still diabetic free🙄😏😁
You have my congratulations! I was diagnosed at 19 months old and I'm now 58. I have yet to lose anything other than feeling in my feet (skin level, but I still feel pressure). My eyesight is going, and I've had a few hospital stays over the years, but I've been lucky.

I'm not a doctor, the bread flour has glyphosphate which act like Amylase in the body hyper decomposing any carbs into sugars . Some type two diabetics suffer from this problem that is on a spectrum of glyphosphate sensitivity
That last part about honey was like a sucker punch to my heart’s balls. That being said, thank you Doctor. I’m reeling and scrambling to change one of the most fundamental parts of my life. Trying to do this without yelling and swearing. The part about honey though….good thing no one else is home right now.
You are amazing Dr. Almost like Dennis Polock on beat diebetics. God bless you . I follow the advice you gave here and my sugar levels remain normal range.
About two years ago I stopped eating about 90-95% of the carbs that I used to eat. I eat no bread, no chips or snacks, I instead eat only nuts. Almonds, peanuts, a few walnuts, a few pecans now and then keeping in mind the fat content as well. I eat alot of light yogurt now and just a little dairy. No sandwiches, I will have turkey for the protein and raw vegetables and soup, which is where I get the most carbs with the noodles in say chicken noodle soup. No fast food either. I noticed after about 3-4 months after starting eating like this that fast food and most processed food in America contains huge amounts of either salt or sugar. The nutrition labels on products have all this information on them so read them carefully. I've also found that after my palette got used to not eating all that salt and sugar that natural foods taste so incredibly good. Fresh strawberries, cherries, blueberries when ripe are ridiculously delicious.
I’m a type two diabetic and I follow the starch solution . I do not eat meat, dairy, eggs, or oil. My A1C went down to 5.4 on this food plan. I don’t eat junk food or processed food. Plenty of vegetables, beans, potatoes. Occasionally some gluten free pasta, but mixed with lots of vegetables/ beans…BUT NO FAT.
Say I don't understand why some people avoid eggs eggs really high in protein and I find my sugar stays more stable in the morning when I have eggs versus other items for breakfast

Probably not a good idea but I have been a type 2 diabetic for about 35 years and eat some things I like but should not eat by taking Metformin and occasionally Glimeipiride. All these years after the diagnosis and I have had no noticeable side effects from metformin except perhaps the fact I am now 79 years old, which is 5 years older the the next oldest person in my immediate family lived to be. My lab work in very good, no problems with low B-12, my kidneys or liver.. Maybe I would be even more healthy if I had done differently, but I am starting to believe metformin may really be a life extension drug..........
One thing not covered in this video is artificially-sweetened drinks and foods. I was a diet cola addict for years, routinely drinking 2 liters every day. When my blood sugar went up, my doctor warned me about the artificial sweeteners. I didn’t believe it at first - How can a non-sugar sweetener raise blood sugar, it’s not sugar? - but I gave up drinking diet cola (any soft drink) for 3 months and my A1c decreased from 7.2 to 5.8! I was stunned. Now I drink water or unsweetened tea instead of any sweetened drinks. Another big change - peanut butter, I love the stuff! But peanut butter is 340 calories per tablespoon, and I was easily eating 5 times that amount daily! I just had to give up peanut butter. I’m have more trouble giving up cereal, as I love cereal in the mornings and I’m too lazy then to fix something else.
I agree. Peanut butter goes down like candy for me. I'll snavel an entire large jar in a few days. I do think a couple of boiled or poached eggs is no trouble at all for setting up good glucose control for the rest of the day. Cereal is candy. I learnt that in the 90's when they fed rats cereal or the cereal box. The rats eating the box fared much better than the cereal muncher rats. 😂
I began drinking diet colas (now called zero sugar) since about 1950 when "Tab" cola was introduced. It was said back then that the artificially sweetened drinks could cause cancer. A few years later that was followed-up by saying the mice used for the testing were given the equivalent of 600 cans of soda daily. I am careful not to drink that many, and I now drink a diet soda whatever I want one. Sam's Zero Cola is my favorite. Lot of carbonation, and cheaper than the brand names Never had a problem with artificial sweeteners...........Obesity is the number one killer of Americans......reduce calories when you can........
There are a few exceptions to the Rule as always.. if you are going to the gym and life weights or do very energy intense exercise (Porridge and white rice) simple Carbs can fuel that workout and give you the energy you need to do that intense workout.. Also we eat fat took much in the evenings (When we are not active) We should eat big in the morning, normal lunch, very small tea/supper.. we will burn the energy and be more constructive in the day! BUT if you are working out in the gym.. eat some carbs 1-2 hours before! to fuel that workout! Cutting all the junk out of your diet and adding 2 walks a day.. really help to boost health and weight loss!! being doing that with a group of people for a a month now and they have all lost and feel better!! This is a very good video.. Sugar (Not fat) is responsible for most health conditions! White Sugar has NO nutritional value.. some professionals call it the white poison!!
I have been a Type 2 Diabetic for 23 years. I feel like I can NEVER eat any of my favorite foods again, but I do sometimes, and cause high glucose. I am using a CGM device to give me 24/7 info on my glucose, which helps some.
Drink enough water, walk 30 or more minutes daily, keep body weight low enough to where blood tests are in the favorable range. I take 3 fish oils daily and zinc supplement.
What’s sad is that if people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes followed a diet and exercise plan probably would be able to reverse it. My own husband refuses to help himself even though I’ve offered to help him. I have a digestive disorder called Sibo and have had to follow a special restrictive diet for 3 months to alleviate the symptoms. I’m sure that same diet would help him too but he’d rather take medication than do the work and make the effort to care for his own body. Very sad.
You can't control other people just because you're married. My poor stepfather has been forced onto every fad diet for 50 years. All for his own good regardless of being healthy and my mother being the only sick diabetic. Poor bugger looks miserable all the time. Leave other people alone.

I've been telling my out of control diabetic husband this for years. But he knows everything and I know nothing. That's why he eats everything on the not to list and wonders why he feels sick all the time. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink. Stubbornness is a curse. My A1C is 13.6 and it turned into keto acidoses and a blood infection,I was hospitalized for two weeks. I’ve been a type 2 diabetic for 20 years and sometimes I loose control of it. “I love to eat”
I am 70 and don't have any of the "normal" metabolism issues. I've been mostly vegetarian all my life. Greens, sprouts, nuts, nut and fruit oils, vegetables, some berries, some beans, occasional fish, occasional eggs, and very rarely some sprouted grain "bread" with some homemade sprouted chickpea or black bean hummus. Never anything refined or manufactured. Water alone is a complete beverage, though a squeeze of lemon is a nice change, as well as black coffee and unsweetened teas.

Thank you 😊 Dr If you and your children wants to live a healthy happy life, you have 2 choices? 1- You live on a farm and grow everything yourself , but you have to import the heirloom seeds from Europe or Asia. They must not be genetically modified (non GMO) like the ones in the USA 🇺🇸. Import the non GMO cows , sheep , goat , etc from Europe or Asia. Plant your own non GMO wheat to make flour and Pasta and have bee hives for honey. 2- Leave the USA 🇺🇸 if you can’t farm. As simple as that ?! Proof Why is it in the USA 🇺🇸, I am diabetic, but when I go to France , Germany or even Turkey and eat bread 🥖, my insulin is not spiked ? Why is it when I live there I don’t see any Drs? I do go to see Drs , but they ask me ? Why did you come to see us? You are as healthy as 60 old man can be. Ponder on this FARM yourself Or LEAVE If not for you ? For your kids. I know it is easier said than done ✅ But it is the TRUTH
I've tried to do without some sugar but if I can't have something sweet usually at the end of a meal I feel 'hard done by' and I often feel depressed so I eat sweet things but I eat less of them. I don't know if I will ever be able to cut sugar out completely. I hadn't eaten sweet potatoes for ages, then I baked a few and mashed them. What made them delicious was that they were sweet.

A cholesterol level of 5 is what you need to aim for.

There needs to be a diabetic section in supermarkets were all the foods have low carbs.
There is, avoid most process foods. Such as refined sugars, carbohydrates and hydrogenated vegetable oils. Eliminate them and you will lose weight. I lost over 70 lbs in less than three years, doing just that.

WHAT???? You didn't get sucked in to one of those high priced TV diet plans!!!! 🤣 Congratulations are in order.
People swear that exhaustion is due to age. Obviously, this isn't true. Congratulations! 👏
So the quick rule of thumb is if it’s a food is delicious or that gives you joy eating, don’t eat it 😂
@@Kamandi2 My diet is "if it tastes good, spit it out"😒
@@Kamandi2 We're talking about diabetes.

I got type 2 as a side effect of 9 1/2 years of prednisone for asthma.
You might want to see if you've developed a sensitivity to some food you're eating. See patrick holford's book on the hidden allergies for more info - if you haven't done so already.

If you cannot live without the occasional slice of bread, freezing it first ( overnight) takes out 30 per cent of the sugar content.
Recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes few months ago immediately cut out all soda and candy cut back on carbs. I workout on treadmill 30 min a day and lost over 20 pounds! 😀 im still working hard let's hope it's not all for nothing and my A1c drops
Right now it's at 6.9 fingers crossed it got lower! 😊🤞
Dif it get lower?
You can do it!👍
You are on the right track( pun intended!) my A1c was 13.5 and after three months it went down to 6.6… I think it is 6.5 now and my fasting glucose on a weekly basis is prediabetic range now.
Excellent presentation with loads of excellent information for type 2 diabetics - thank you sir
Hello @malcolmpalmer2249, I'm glad to know that you found the video helpful 😊 Good luck on your journey! Please do share this content further.
in addition to veggies, do you eat anything else for breakfast?

Is plain oatmeal with blueberries, walnuts and cinnamon good you if u are pre-diabetic?
yes but... only if it's the oatmeal you have to cook not instant oatmeal
Many thanks for providing the information immediately. While there is a lot of health information of importance available the presentations can be unbearable with so much wasted time before providing the vital information promised.
Doctor Ergin , I wonder how many people you saved from early death , including me there are millions who indebted to you.
GOD BLESS YOU !!!
Can you give us a list of what we are to eat and drink, thank you doc.
That would be nice, but this doctor doesn't answer questions. What a shame.
I wish people would distinguish between Type I and Type II diabetes. Two totally different things.
Ezekiel bread should be good for folks with bad blood sugar. At least I've never read anything to the contrary.
Dylan.profuctiom.of sonfs kills ..bees .
Say I don't understand why some people avoid eggs eggs really high in protein and I find my sugar stays more stable in the morning when I have eggs versus other items for breakfast
meat has nothing to do with high sugars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks doc for reminding us to look after ourselves...
great video Doc, I'm glad you mentioned honey is high in sugar and I will also eliminate this product from my daily take. Thank you for caring 🥰

Dr Ergin, is Erythritol and Monk fruit sweetener safe to use instead of sugar?
If the beverage industry put real sugar in the drinks, instead of this high fructose corn syrup, I bet we would see a big drop in diabetes.
This video renewed my commitment to the avoidance of all the desserts I used to eat. I feel so much better since I have turned my back on sugar! Thanks doc!
Exactly
Lot of carbonation, and cheaper than the brand names
Never had a problem with artificial sweeteners...........Obesity is the number one killer of Americans......reduce calories when you can........
New sub here. Thanks for calling out all these incriminating foods!
Very sad.
I'm 65 years old and I couldn't care less what I'm going to live another 15 years that's life expectancy I'm going to enjoy my food and drink

How do you get rid of high morning sugars?
Have one teaspoon apple CV with half glass of water
I've been telling my out of control diabetic husband this for years. But he knows everything and I know nothing. That's why he eats everything on the not to list and wonders why he feels sick all the time. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink. Stubbornness is a curse. Doesn't matter how hard ppl have tried to help, he sees it as a personal attack, not help. Only a matter of time.

Hi there!

If you and your children wants to live a healthy happy life, you have 2 choices?
1- You live on a farm and grow everything yourself , but you have to import the heirloom seeds from Europe or Asia. They must not be genetically modified (non GMO) like the ones in the USA 🇺🇸.
Import the non GMO cows , sheep , goat , etc from Europe or Asia.
Plant your own non GMO wheat to make flour and Pasta and have bee hives for honey.
2- Leave the USA 🇺🇸 if you can’t farm.
As simple as that ?!
Proof
Why is it in the USA 🇺🇸, I am diabetic, but when I go to France , Germany or even Turkey and eat bread 🥖, my insulin is not spiked ?
Why is it when I live there I don’t see any Drs?
I do go to see Drs , but they ask me ? Why did you come to see us?
You are as healthy as 60 old man can be.
Ponder on this
FARM yourself
Or
LEAVE
If not for you ? For your kids.
I know it is easier said than done ✅
But it is the TRUTH
Should I remove Sourdough bread and steel cut oatmeal from my diet? Thank you Sir.
yup
Real Sourdough bread unlike most breads on the market contains No sugar. Check the label for this and remember "portion control"
Remove them.
Absolutely 💯 remove them. Your body will thank you.
Definitely not these are healthy foods wholemeal bread though is better
I've tried to do without some sugar but if I can't have something sweet usually at the end of a meal I feel 'hard done by' and I often feel depressed so I eat sweet things but I eat less of them. I don't know if I will ever be able to cut sugar out completely. I hadn't eaten sweet potatoes for ages, then I baked a few and mashed them. What made them delicious was that they were sweet.
