I don't really mind if you forgot you read the "Hachikuji on oddities side" thing from my comment. I understood what happened there so nvm here's more. Now we clearly watched Araragi as a pawn and being "yes ma'am" to gaen the whole time. She can just give him his commands and it's not like he is actually forced to. I already explained how she does it in the previous comment. After Araragi mentioned the note being written by the vampire, she had some arguments that if it was, there should've been one besides nearly all of them which doesn't make sense because ofc Deathtopia would leave it besides the one in the shack so whoever is investigating finds it not their parents or someone random. And when Araragi mentioned the shack, gaen diverted the conversation to the handwriting saying that it didn't match but it could be messy if she didn't have time. But if her time was that limited then she didn't have time to create such a riddle(Araragi was thinking that in the other episode). So the handwriting is actually more evidence that it wasn't the victim writing it. After telling Araragi to hide this stuff from Hachikuji, now she makes him hide it from Shinobu (she doesn't even feel the need to justify it). Tbf it WAS a risk to tell Shinobu based on what Araragi knew, but it seems like Hachikuji who knows more doesn't think so. So she sends a charm and interrupts gaen's plan(me happy) and gean has records of her plan failing because someone interrupted. And we can trust Hachikuji. Even if she tricks Araragi she wouldn't knowingly go against him that's different. I just hope that Hachikuji annoying gaen will be fine. Funny detail the charm was closed when Yotsugi gave it to Araragi so possibly she was told not to open it. For now I think gaen's plan was probably to buy time for Kagenui to come in and slay the vampire or something. If Deathtopia dies, zombies may turn back to humans like they talked about it in Kabuki. So if we assume that's the plan, this may lead to something like the ending of Kizu. I have this view on the state of the club that Kanbaru unknowingly created an environment forcing pressure on everyone to work hard and at the same time her energy worked just like a coping mechanism (the cheerful "everything is good yay!" type of coping) that didn't let anyone see any problem . Now that she's gone the stress is showing itself. About Deathtopia and Hachikuji's side, I don't feel like I have enough clues so you can have fun speculating but here are some additional points: Deathtopia can just starve herself without needing poison like with creating zombies instead of eating them. Or did she eat the other two missing students? When Araragi dies Shinobu regains all of her powers. Maybe they needed her? And the beautiful princess is trying to hide her inner beauty not the outer. I think that's why she's wearing a mask that's not just ugly but looks like a devil. Btw your discord seems to be forgetting about Owarimonogatari second season ep1 6:32
I just remembered, Higasa in her only scene in hana called Kanbaru an idiot for working hard for college so maybe she doesn't really agree with that mindset and she had to act like she does for some time to save the club(as she kinda said in this episode). This may be too far but maybe this makes the "only graduated delinquent" attractive to her. In her eyes he's what she wanted to be but she couldn't. Watching with pinkcubed isn't that bad after all...
I'll just repost my 6.5/7 comment (Princess Beauty and Waza/Acerola Bon Appétit part 1) "Kiss-Shot not being a pure bred but a human made into vampire is said in Kizu, during the face off. Vampires usually kill themselves by 200 years, its such that you might as well be a pure at that point. She says she does not recalls her human self other than having affluence. As per timeline, she meets The First 200 years in, also a one which she fails to save. And the human Kiss-Shot stuff in Zoku (Koyomi Reverse) is ep 4. The meta thing you could say, because of Zoku, her memories are made real again once more. The lost forgotten self. But yes, Acerola was a commoner, everyone just gives shit to her. The Toppling over Kingdoms is a real femme fatale story mentioned in Kabuki (Kabuki = Topple)." ^ This topple idea was brought up in part 1 which is why I had mentioned. Just highlighting parallels of already existing stuff. And as an add on. The idea of failing vampirism is a thing since Kizu, it just wasnt adapted... The process is to drain but to not eat, but it can still fail (partly chance, and there is a sense of a compatibility thing). The "zombies" you see in Kabuki are just failed Vampires, the way it was described, it is a cascade of degeneracy, vampirism is not always _that_ successful, this wasn't adapted well. It is also mentioned in Acerola Bon Appétit and is there as "stakes" (but of course we know Acerola becomes a vampire successfully) and *was* adapted, it's always an idea, just a poorly adapted one sadly. Final thing, NEVER DOUBT HACHIKUJI (there's more context about that weird line by Gaen that wasn't adapted, I'll let someone else cover it)
Concerning Gaen's doubt about Hachikuji, there is actually a follow up to this that took place when they met up with Hachikuji this episode, but sadly it got cut in the anime. Here it is: "I’d decided that I wouldn’t consult her about this case. It was different from when she didn’t have her position-now that she’d become a god, I didn’t want to stick Hachikuji in a dilemma between oddities and humans. 'Ha ha. You don’t know me as well as you think you do, Araragi-san. You’ll never put me in a dilemma, because I’m always on your side, Araragi-san. As long as I’m with Araragi-san, even hell isn’t such a bad place.'" It's somewhat unfortunate that they kept in the setup for this but not the actual answer and payoff to it, especially because it is just extremely wholesome
That is so wholesome and it'd be good if they kept it in the anime. And I still call that gaen's bs. She knows oversimplifying people or characters to be on this side or that side makes the reality hard to see. Since it's proven that there's no mechanic forcing oddities or gods to be with oddities or against humans this is not justifiable but an oversimplification. Araragi doesn't think that far. Now I'm happy Hachikuji was there to say that.
Couple things It seems to be the case for most Nisio Isin works that at least one of the presumptions came out to be false. This is something to consider. An interesting side note about cryptology. If you are not aware, Nisio Isin has a ongoing manga project (he works on the story not the drawing) specifically about cryptology which allegedly drove a lot of translators into desperation due to the insane amount of wordplays and such. The BD for Tsukihi Undo is coming out in December. According to the official website, Tsukihi will have her new song probably with video, so that may be something to look forward to. Finally, I hope someone can react to the monogatari audio commentaries. Unlike other anime, this one was written by Nisio Isin and features the characters doing the commentaries. These are absolutely funny and sometimes have important information. Many anime puts important stuff in side projects. Apparently the recent ReZero mini anime covers some very important information about the whole background.
you mean Nisio had* a manga project - Cipher Academy got axed several months ago, unfortunately. Although I can see why a manga that had codes/riddles that specific wouldn't work out on WSJ
"I'm not a weeb." That "brush your teeth" poster in the back begs to differ
Hey Sif! 😉
@@NOGames1893 Hey!!!! Crazy seeing you here!
33:28 I love how Shinobu said that like it was a threat. Like, "I'll hug you! I'll do it!"
4:24 I guess it's time for you to read "Karen brushing', a Monogatari short story. Peak fiction obviously. You can follow it with "Tsukihi brushing".
There's nobody doing it like Pinkcubed, missed you
2:50 Bro talking about Hachikuji when HOMURA IS RIGHT THERE!
I wish I had one of those🥲
4:17 idk man, sounds like winning at life to me.
another good reaction chieftain
Monogatari let's goooo
Bro became an alternate version of "oral hygeine bro".
The seven sword styles that Shinobu used to send Araragi to hell is actually a reference to Katanagatari, another series Isin wrote
