  • During our recent trip to Yorkshire, we decided to visit the incredible York Minster. The Cathedral in York dominates the skyline of the medieval and historic town and is visible from miles around. Inside the Minster, you are transported to a world of religious opulence and wealth. Featuring an incredible nave, beautiful stained glass windows, and glistening altars, it really is a great place to visit. We also ventured into the crypts which as beneath the Cathedral. Here you can visit the tomb of Saint William of York, and observe some incredible architecture. The site of the Minster stands on an old Roman building, which in itself was rather grand.
    Join us today as we visit York Minster, and show you around the different parts of the incredible cathedral.

    York Minster is where Richard 111 should be not in a beefed up Church in Leicester , he had no ties with Leicester apart from the battle of Bosworth .

      It's an interesting historical debate, do you think I should do a video on it? I agree, he was firmly linked to the York family. He could even have been buried in Fotheringhay (we do have a video on this) like his Mother and Father. Thanks again for the comment :)

      He gave battle in vain.

      His burial is as important as the millions gone before. Stop placing importance on one human being in comparison to others!! Talk about degrading your self worth...

      @@TheUntoldPast The main issue is that King Richard III stated in his Will that he should be buried in the Lady Chapel of York Minster. This was set aside in favour of Statute Law which states that the person must be buried in the same administrative district the body was found. It is a contentious and complicated issue, a topic that will take quite some time to research and understand.

      Pretty sure no cameras allowed unless by prior arrangement, agreement and particular donation mount. A jogger introduced that some decade or so back. Anyway, what would I know, I only lived there 40 years.

      @@RogerThat1945 Doubt that's true... most historic churches allow photography as long as it's personal use, including ones that are still in use. They probably just don't allow selling photos or taking photos during services.

      @wphubert 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The organ had been removed for a complete overhaul by Harrison and Harrison. As of 2020 the organ was reinstalled and will be dedicated Easter 2021. It is -now used at this point for services.

      The accoustics is such that turn on your smartphone speakers and it would just fill the entire place.
