You know with the info you found on Pizza Pasta, I'm surprised you didn't find the game's most essential feature. When you go into the dipswitch settings, you can add continues to the game to rematch the current opponent. It's not a plain and simple quarter muncher though because if you ran out of continues, you'd start all over again. Either way, that's arguably one of the big innovations the arcade game has.
I hadn't realized that Punch-Out!! Arcade was so different from Punch-Out!! NES! That's really neat! And that interview segment with your dad was really sweet, too, I deeply appreciate that! It's still really weird to see a game called Punch-Out!! that doesn't feature most of the characters I'm aware of! Where the heck is Mike Tyson? (joke) And thanks for the subscriber shout-out! But mainly I've been checking out small channels, cuz that's what I am. This isn't a big channel (yet) - but it's got phat channel vibes. You're crushing it over here
Grew up in the 80s, born in 81. Beat Zelda before I could read properly by trial and error. Most kids I knew wouldn't touch zelda because it was too hard to figure out. Only jock types which owned very few Nintendo games, if even a Nintendo at all, owned Punch out. So getting hints was not just social awkward but very few actually got past bald bull without cheat codes floating around. I loved the challenge of finding the way to beat games like this, since it took forever to get the next big game but it also brought on anxiety when I couldnt beat a game and had to put it down only to again in few months. Some games were just that nefarious. With that said, it must be in all of our genetic code to be like I didnt beat the game proper because I relied on others or magazines but thank God for the internet because I will refrain from online walk-throughs but not refuse. 😅
@power-backinblack haha I still haven't beaten the OG Legend of Zelda! I'm excited to do it for Friday Night Gamez! Haha I know what you mean though. I try not to use guides or help, cuz I want to WIN, but sometimes you just have to. XD
No shame in looking up how to play a game. The world champions of Donkey Kong all read the book “How to Win at Donkey Kong” because strats are the way to kill the game!
As per why Nintendo might not be making a new Punch-Out... Nintendo are the ones publishing the Fitness Boxing line up of games (a continuation of the Goldie's Gym series)... and might want to avoid flooding the market a bit. I mean, the only reason we are getting Fitness Boxing feat Hatsune Miku released so close to Fitness Boxing 3, is because they honestly did not expect people outside of Japan to want to play that game. They literally rushed out an English Patch due to all the people importing Nintendo Shop Yen cards--and then went through the process of getting it rated on PEGI and ESRB. In a way that indicated they really really were not expecting it to go outside of Japan Otherwise, we'd have had Fist of the North Star edition be the one release between Fitness Boxing 2 and Fitness Boxing 3 (the first Fitness Boxing is no longer listed--likely due to music licensing issues) Maybe for the "Switch 2" we might see Punch Out be put out on that system. Which honestly, "Switch 2" looks like it is just going to be a Switch Pro system, and not "The Next Generation"... as why would it be? The Gameboy was out for thirteen years--the five year generation shift was based around there actually being improvements between generations in that time. There is no reason to purchase a PS5 and there is no reason for Microsoft to release a successor to the XBox Series X--the generational jump isn't a thing that is occurring as fast. Seems the desire for a new generation every five years is just a forced tradition at this point But yeah... Fitness Boxing, while being a "different" game from Punch-Out likely is taking up the space that Punch Out would end up also occupying... hence why we've not seen Punch-Out on the Switch. That... and... uh... the Joycons are mostly only kind of okay in Fitness Boxing.. and well... a Punch Out on the Switch _would_ make use of the Joycons
So Nintendo has Punch-Out, Game & Watch Multi-Screen, the DS, the 3DS, and the Wii U with the same dual screen gimmick. It's hardly a gimmick when you use it that often. Wonder if we'll ever see it return.
Hopefully in the next few weeks! I'm nearly done with the animation bits (which take the longest). After that it'll just be the live action shots/skits, editing, final touches and uploading.
To be fair about stereotypes. Little Mac is an Italian American, and a pretty good one at that. Nintendo has always had good italian representation. Remember back in the early 80s Italians were *just barely* white
