Very cool review. Personally speaking I think I'm going to hold off on both of these. Those shoulder buttons on the wizard just made me say yikes. Lol.

I do like the aesthetics of the RetroFlag version and feel like that's a fair price. That little yellow joystick is so iconic. I like that you showcased how to "install" it too with visual aid and that you needed to restart the Switch for the controllers to be recognized. Bummer you can't wake up the Switch tho with it... Yikes about trying to get a game out too. I like that the NYXI has light-up buttons. Usually girls like a stiff D but I don't like my D pads stiff, bummer to see that. Thanks for showcasing these options!
Yeah, the RetroFlag controller has more going for it overall. The NYXI Wizard has some nice ideas and aesthetics, but man that D-Pad and the triggers feel awful! Lmao at your comparison! Thanks for checking out the video man!

Take a look at Doyoky Retro. They did the GameCube controller justice as JoyCons. Not perfect, but really really good.
Really interesting controllers. Thanks for the review! I’ve had some weird problems with my joycons desyncing (hasn’t happened in months). But I love the look of these. Thanks for this deep dive in these. My fingernails are so short and the oled game slot can be INFURIATING 😅

Interesting devices for the ultra GameCube enthusiast. The price range isn’t ridiculous, but not super accessible either for third party accessories. I am sure there will be a market for them somewhere in retro gamers who want that old feeling while playing new titles.

Well, no. Retroflag is nothing like a GameCube controller. At all. Nyxi Wizard is at least similar, but its quality control is the worst I've ever seen.
Man other than color that looks nothing like a GCN controller
It does have some glaring omissions aesthetically, but the color scheme, analog stick and C-Stick definitely have a genuine look to them. Thanks for checking out the video!

Speaking of wavebird and sadly its insane price, do you think is possible to have working the PowerA Wireless GameCube Controller for Switch with the GOWENIC bluetoot adapter on a gamecube as a alternative to the wavebird ?
The GameCube modding scene is amazing right now, and there are mods that can connect any Bluetooth controller to it. I’d imagine the PowerA Wireless GameCube Controller for Switch would work as well with the mod mentioned. 👍👍

Been looking at these for a while. The retro flag not having console mode capability is a HUGE turn off for me personally. That’s literally what that switch is meant to be. Same reason I haven’t bought some of the awesome Hori handheld mode controllers. Just feels like a bad move. The NYXI would have been perfect for me had it not of been for the overall build of it. The terrible button design decisions made and the wonky weight distribution is a bummer. Ug. I’m probably gonna have to say nay on both, but who knows maybe both will come out with an update for each that solves my issues.

I do understand the idea of a handheld-only grip, but the mileage definitely varies based on you play the Switch primarily. As for the NYXI Wizard, I really wish it didn’t have the issues it has with it, because it has a lot going for it aesthetically. Sadly, that D-Pad and those triggers are really disappointing. Glad you enjoyed the honest and thorough comparison review man!!
Nice review! Both have pros and cons but since I barely ever play in handheld mode, I'll stick with the Pro controller (and regular joycons in handheld) even if I play GC games ported to the Switch! Great video and keep up the good work!

Those are awesome controllers! Sadly I believe PowerA stopped production on them, and have become quite pricey. But 100% agree that’s the best GameCube controller for the Switch currently 👍. Thanks for checking out the video!

Both of these controller options caught my eye cause...well, Gamecube but was waiting to see your opinion on both before making my decision. I felt a lot of reviews glossed over the flaws you mentioned on the Nyxi Wizard which are honestly deal breakers for me. If they go back and fix the dpad and triggers then I'll have to get one but the retroflag looks much better for the asking price. Thank you for the awesome review Marcello!
