just bought this retroflag. Amzing product. although it pains me to discover motion sensor does not work when lying in bed. Sensor works only if you are upright position This was never talked about from reviews.
Love your video. I have this also and think it’s amazing. It’s comfortable and very well made strong plastic and buttons feel amazing. My only complaint is you can’t dock it which is obvious and it drains the battery faster. But it’s an amazing controller and definitely worth the money.
I have myself 2 of these Retroflag Switch controllers (bought myself the second one, after loving the initial one I purchased), and I love the controller, big-time! On a sidentote, I know everyone praises the Gamecube controller, but it honestly was not very good, and was horribly deaigned, too. While it did, in fact, have an awesome analog stick, it had a ridiculously small dpad, those ridiculously oversized L&R trigger buttons, and those f**ked up 4 face buttons...all different sizes, and designs, and for aboslutely no reason, at all. I always thought the C stick was way too small as well, and should've been the same size as the analog stick, but also shouldve been better designed, as a whole. It, and the entire controller itself, never made any sense to me, especially coming from Nintendo. It reminded me way too much of the Virtual Boy's controller, but at least it wss, somewhat, more user-friendly, and conventional, too. The only other controller that was even worse designed, also, and unfortunately, by Nintendo as well, was that ridiculous N64 controller...but at least it did have an awsome, and normal sized, dpad! Unfortunately, the entire controller was so stupidly designed (especially that ignorant little anlaog stick, and it's horrible placement, too!), that it was uncomfortable, snd unconventional. Loved that nice, and big, dpad though!! Crazy that Retroflag made/deaigned a better looking, more comfortable, and much more user-friendly controller than Nintendo made across something like 2, maybe even 3, systems in a row. Lol. And don't even get me started on the Wii, and it's mulitple controllers that you had to have, just to play certain games...instead of just having 1 controller that could do everything. D**n, come to think of it, Nintendo has f**ked up a lot more than I even realized...🤔.

Considering, also at that time, we also had the killer Dualshock 2 (as well as the previous Dualshock controller) and the awesome Xbox Controller S (not counting that original Xbox abomination, which is another poorly designed controller), and so many other excellent previous controllers, from even scarce systems that didn't make it for very long, the GC just lacked a well thought out controller. And trying to play a game that was ported from one of the other 2 systems, was a nightmare, and a half. That's just me though, but I know most others, if not everyone else, more than likely loved that controller. The GC did have some awesome games though, I won't deny that,.but they just weren't a blast to play, for me anyway, due to that controller. Had the analog triggers been designed differently, positioned differently, the 4 face buttons designed differently, and that d pad had been better designed, I'm sure I would've loved it a lot more.
I might buy this again my custom gameboy joycons with a dpad stopped working today so I have to play docked mode and tabletop mode with my 8bitdo pro 2 gameboy edition with my oled switch . The retroflag I had before it’s awesome I’m getting it again The nitrodeck is nice but alittle bit more expensive
Shame about the scratching. It may have been preferable to just make 2 sizes rather than having a sharp bumper like that to accommodate the two. My original switch is dinged up enough over the years that I feel less precious about it so I think I will still go ahead with the purchase but my OLED switch isn’t going near it 😅
Funny how you can get so much right and just one tiny detail can make you seriously reconsider it. I wasn't sure if it was just me so I'm glad other people feel the same way and it was worth including. I might investigate a mod to see if there's an easy way to stop the scratching

It's definitely a weird one. It seems to be so that they secure the two different width consoles in place but I have no idea why they thought this was a good solution. Even a spring clip without sharp edges would have worked.
By now my launch Switch is not in perfect condition so the scratches don't bother me. But I wonder if you could put something on those brackets to soften them a bit?
@@mattsephton I've had a close look and you'd basically need to dismantle it to get the clips out. Maybe a 3D printed replacement would help, or at least file down the edges a little. Might be a project for another video...
@@mattsephton I don't know, do they? It's got the connection with the USB-C and it shows up as a wired controller. The sides of the console are painted so it's not like there's a bare metal connection. And the clips barely touch the OG Switch
It's heartbreaking. Especially a week after spending £320 on a console. But still this is a great controller and I am using it all the time with my Switch now
@@QsQs-du9xp if you play on your TV a lot, the official Pro Controller is hard to beat. In terms of handheld, this one is seemingly the best for my needs. I've been tempted by others but there's always a reason for me to refrain from buying

@@JoeBleeps that is a shame. I do like the look of these things but for some reason, no wake up with home button is annoying. I have cheaper ones that do this and ate detachable (still a little too small). But scratching my switch even a little scratch is a no no. Review was excellent

And as for the scratches, it was already scratched by the time I realised so I may as well keep using it but at least I could use this platform to warn other people about it.
I'm actually surprised by the number of people bothered by the scratches. I thought it was just me. I'll maybe investigate some sort of modification to stop it happening

The motion sensing is basically the same as the pro controller, so yes it's different to when you're using the joy cons unfortunately

I broke my regular switch and it does not have a rail on the right side do I need a rail or not for this controller to work
It should work but the regular switch is narrower so it may wobble a bit

Can't you just pull clips off before putting switch inside?
The clips are mounted from the inside so it's not that straightforward unfortunately.
