As a Hard Rock player, I'm always chasing a balance between fullness and clarity in speakers. Especially since I build my own custom speaker cabinets. Speakers like the V30 tend to thin out when you back the gain down to a hard rock type of sound, and that high end "fizz" becomes more prominent. But using a speaker like a Texas Heat for example fixes that problem, but IMO it lacks that 'in your face' clarity and presence. So I've been either pairing V30s in a 2x12 with somerhing like a Texas Heat or a Cannibus Rex, or if using a V30 alone I've had to EQ the crap out of it with something like an Mxr 10-band EQ pedal in my effects loop to cut the fizz and harshness and bring in more low end. This new DV-77 sounds like it solves ALL of my issues!! I can't wait to get one. I am building a custom 1x12 at this very moment that I'm going to put a DV-77 in as soon as they are released!! 🤘

I tend not to buy signature series equipment but I think I may have to change my mind after hearing this. Eminence did an amazing job with this speaker.
I want to replace the speaker in my Marshall jcm800 4010 combo, it currently has a Celestin wolverine (kinda odd speaker). This New Eminence I think would be awesome in it! I'd love to load my 1990 Carvin 4x12 cab with these new Eminence as well, but cost is definitely a consideration.
I notice a substantial difference between the tube amp and the Neural plugin. On the plugin I hear that digital high end whitenoise that is common to ss. On the tube amp it sounded a lot more rolled off on the top end.
Now I have tried it out for a bit. My beloved Crate now have killer sound on all the steps i can do on it. Thanks to you cool IR kristian. This is actually the first IR that was usable. Please make more ? You have now made a new standard. Perfect blend, on anything is now, what was Mesa can and a 57. Congratulations! You made everything new! Yes yes, i know. I am freaking out again. Not very Norwegian ow me. 😎🤘
Hej! Great to hear it has become your new standard. I'll come up with more really usable IRs for different situations in the future. Spread the word about the IRs in the meantime!
I just grabbed your Eminence IR pack. I wanted to thank you so very much!! I was looking for something that is pretty much plug-n-play (was getting sick of the old v30 with 69420 mic positions, most of them unusable anyway) and you knocked it out of the fucking park! It really shows that it was made with german love
Love the IR's... just got my dv-77's today after about three months.. maybe more.... gonna x pattern them with k100's in a Mojotone 4x12 and also a pair of 2x12 cabs... Should be brutal.
I tried both through my Engl Pro 1x12 cab and found the opposite, lol. I have to boost the mids of the DV more. I also found the DV was about 2 dB quieter than the V30. I’ll give the DV some more time and see.
Dude, I just bought the Eminence Kohle Metal IR Pack and it's awesome. Man I've been hesitant to do this for a while, but I decided to use my Mesa OS as a test cab for some experimental combinations and bought some DV-77s immediately so I can mix and match V30s witth my DV-77s and then I want to try the Swamp Thangs with the Hesu Demons. I don't think the DV-77 will be replacing the V30, but I think it's definitely a complimentary speaker (with respect to frequency response) to blend with the V30s for as flat as possible a passband by which to EQ/tweak to your liking.
The ir pack is amazing, I was using an ir with v30s and replaced it with this and there was instant clarity difference. With less of the harsh frequencies that I'm always trying to eq out of the v30s.
took my suggestion on the Swamp Thang I see. ;) Great video man, as always. And ahhh, the second you turned on the V30, that high end sizzle thing that I can't stand about it became so much more apparent. (I'm one of the people who complain about the V30 being too harsh. haha)
@@KohleAudioKult Haha not at all! I think I need one. But I need to spend the money to get my amp serviced first, it’s showing its age. (‘91 Boogie Mark IV). Thanks for all the awesome videos dude!
That so called fizz is part of what makes a V30 sound so rich, full and harmonicly complex in a band mix. The Mesa V30 is incredible. That said the DV77 mixes well with the Governor and Omega/Eminence VM12-65.
I pair my DV-77 with a Governor, sounds amazing. DV-77 is amazing and is also my new favorite speaker. I also have a Granophyre being built, so stoked all the way around.
Great Job man! I just purchased your pack because I fell in love with the mix of the DV-77 and the Swamp Thang. Love all of them individually, but the mix of those two is so brutal and precise. It also gives you a kind of a stereo effect. Like when you double the guitars for a mix, but while playing. So refreshing!
Habe mir 2 gekauft und 2 China-Vintage-30 in meiner 2x12er ersetzt. GEIL! Danke für diese Präsentation wo man genau das hört wie es auch wirklich ist 🙂
The dv sounds like it has more low end. I love V30s. Just threw some Redbacks in one of my cabs in an x with V30s but decided to just go all redback in that cab since I have a diesel V30 4x12. Too bad the Redbacks are back ordered now! Now you have me wanting a quad of dvs 😒🔫
I was able to get two of them a couple weeks ago. I ran out and got them after your teaser in the giveaway video. They are in a Tremoverb 2x12 right now. They are ridiculously good!!!
Big fan of the show! Just bought your IR pack and man, it sounds awesome. The clarity and note definition even with just the projects that I'm doing, just sounds amazing. I'm using it through my Helix on 96 sample rate, I loaded up 441 and there was no sound from it! Anyway, amazing IR pack you've got here. If you are thinking about buying it definitely do it, it's great
Glad to see some love for Swamp things in t he Mesa cabs. I've run a pair with either v30s or CL80s in mine for several years, one of my favorite cabs. Honestly I'd like to hear you do celestion 65s, the 65 version made by Fane, and creamback 65s to hear them next to Mick Thomson s. I feel that they were giving off some 65 vibes even if they started at the v30s
Speaker's tone depends so much of the cabinet. I have difficulty to make up my mind on a speaker swap. The mesa v30 sounds so much different in a traditionnal mesa cab than the oversized one. Need to find the good match IMO. The eminence sounds cool though.
Thanks for that video , lot of work you did . Awesome. I put my DV-77 in my Hayden close back 2 x 12 with a Celestion Creamback H75 . Fits really well with the Creamback too. The H75 have a pronounced high-end and lot of sizzle , while the 77 is vocal and tighten up mids . ... killer definition for metal riffing "a la Wages of Sin " Arch Enemy . Try it ..I think you will like that pair .
Could you please explain your cabinet wiring in the video? I see that it looks like you have 8 ohm vertical pairs wired in parallel equaling 4 ohms for each vertical pair, right? But, what is the final combination of the vertical pairs? Are you combining the two 4 ohm pairs in Series wiring for 8 ohms total cabinet wiring at the jack? Please explain???❤
I bought the IR pack. I havent invested in IRs before and made do with the Gods Cab and Catharsis packs from yonks ago. lets see if this improves my sounds!
Wish we would have heard a guitar that had it's mids scooped. I love mids and I love TS pedals. I own 10 different TS's. But sometimes I just wanna play a Mesa Mark ii c+ and bang out some Metallica riffs. I have 4 cabs in my studio and I've been thinking about reconning an old 5150 cab or putting a mix of new speakers in it. I love what Friedman does with their v30 creamback cabs. Sm57 on the v30 and a royer on the cone of the creamback and I can get great tones. I'll probably buy some Eminence IRs first before I pull the trigger. Thanks for the video it really helps people like me that record part time in their home studio. Hope your guitar course is on Truefire. I have a too many vids on promix academy to watch lol.
Sounds a lot like Mick. But I still prefer the good ol v30 (with a 5150)... although it IS a lot more harsh. I just dig that upper-mid frequencies. Can’t help myself🤷♂️
I've always preferred Eminence speakers. My main for the last 10+ years has been the Legend V12 found in the oversized Krank cab. Stellar cleans, killer on heavy distortion but absolutely terrible for a low-gain crunch.
I use to play in an band called Deeds of Flesh and I love what you got going on with everything in your studio. I Need to Record with you on previous grinds I have before I rot, Lol. Luv All your videos too, keep it going my brother !!!
Awesome video comparison! I wish to see how it compares with the Celestion G12K100 that Mick Thomson used in his Rivera Cabs before his latest rig switch. I’m a fan of those and now these new Eminence DV-77 for sure!
Aaaahhhh, finally someone got rid of this fucked up hollow harsh scratching in the highs the original V30 has. It's like putting a notch filter on the Eq, soooo much more pleasant!!!
Sounds like V30 without that nasty fizz in the top end. DV-77 all the way.

i like the eminence cv 75 it has a bit darker midrange i play one in a 1x12
I want to replace the speaker in my Marshall jcm800 4010 combo, it currently has a Celestin wolverine (kinda odd speaker). This New Eminence I think would be awesome in it! I'd love to load my 1990 Carvin 4x12 cab with these new Eminence as well, but cost is definitely a consideration.
Das Teil klingt echt übersatt, und trotzdem hört er sich so sauber an...ich bin begeistert.
Love the sound of the DV77, you will have a battle trying to get the soul of the Evil Wizard I might end up taking you soul haha
I notice a substantial difference between the tube amp and the Neural plugin. On the plugin I hear that digital high end whitenoise that is common to ss. On the tube amp it sounded a lot more rolled off on the top end.
V30's have a fizz about em, for sure. Why I got away from them and use G12K100's or G1280's.
love my k100s
G12K100 best thing ive heard so far for high gain low tuning. itll crush your fucking soul lol
LOL that smile when you say "sell your soul to the devil, i'll take care of it" 3:41
Now I have tried it out for a bit.
Just ordered mine. Didn't have to think about it after hearing it. Keep doing what you doing brother.
Paied with Celestion Neo Creamback... It's Tasty.
So great to hear that! 🍺❤️
Send your feedback to Neural DSP too please! They should know 😉
@@KohleAudioKult I will!! Thanks again from the bottom of my filthy heart. Cheers!
That DV-77 sounds really nice!
Great to hear that! I'm sure you'll have fun with it!
The ir pack is amazing, I was using an ir with v30s and replaced it with this and there was instant clarity difference. With less of the harsh frequencies that I'm always trying to eq out of the v30s.
Great to hear that! Spread the word! 🍺❤️🤪
took my suggestion on the Swamp Thang I see. ;) Great video man, as always.
And ahhh, the second you turned on the V30, that high end sizzle thing that I can't stand about it became so much more apparent. (I'm one of the people who complain about the V30 being too harsh. haha)
Came back to revisit this, definitely the DV-77 all the way.
Didn’t get old, right? 🤪
@@KohleAudioKult Haha not at all! I think I need one. But I need to spend the money to get my amp serviced first, it’s showing its age. (‘91 Boogie Mark IV). Thanks for all the awesome videos dude!
Take your time! Still hard to get one!
@@KohleAudioKult Oh wow good to know!
@Shaun Ashley the Eminence site had them up for like a day then they were all gone. Looks like parts express and some people on ebay have them up.
@Shaun Ashley me too, they're so good. Tried the IRs Eminence out yo a couple weeks ago and was sold, in person it's even better.
It is crazy how easy it was too get a killer tone using these IRs. They are honestly better than anything else I've tried.
Thanks man! Spread the word!
@@KohleAudioKult will do! Scott over a Chernobyl Studios is doing a great job of keeping people know... That's how I found out!
@@lukehenderson Yeah, Scott is great!
Great to hear that! ❤️🍺
Thinking of pairing swamp thang and dv-77 in my vertical 2 x 12. Thoughts? Which would you put on top?
This sounds so much better than the IR sounds available in the eminence web page. Great work
Habe mir 2 gekauft und 2 China-Vintage-30 in meiner 2x12er ersetzt. GEIL! Danke für diese Präsentation wo man genau das hört wie es auch wirklich ist 🙂
Gern geschehen!
I got ENGL screamer 50 combo with V30 and I think this speaker would be a great upgrade to spice things up!
I've been looking for a new speaker for a cab so I think I have found it in the DV-77! Best get saving..
The v30 is probably better for lower tunings but it does sound good
Swapped one of these in and amps seem to feedback a lot more. Anyone else have this happen. Replaced a Mesa V3
I was able to get two of them a couple weeks ago. I ran out and got them after your teaser in the giveaway video. They are in a Tremoverb 2x12 right now. They are ridiculously good!!!
Awesome! You were more than lucky to find them right now!
Thanks for the IR pack, I just bought it. Hope this is one way we can support your work.
Absolutely! Thanks!
If you are thinking about buying it definitely do it, it's great
Great to hear that! Thanks a lot. Spread the word!
For real. I've had Mesa, Marshall, and Orange cabs with V30s and they all sounded radically different.
Super awesome guitar tone! Can't wait to buy your iR pack and try it in my metal mixes!
Try it ..I think you will like that pair .
sounds like a great setup!
One or two beers in the span of a half hour. And a metal speaker review. Fuck yes.
I grabbed the pack and I love it! Thanks for putting this out, Kristian!
Great to hear that! Spread the word! ❤️🍺
Stunning. Those IRs just jumped to the top of my shopping list; sorry, everyone else, but this is just too good.
I bought the IR pack. I havent invested in IRs before and made do with the Gods Cab and Catharsis packs from yonks ago. lets see if this improves my sounds!
I hope so.
Let me know!
You mean Legend EM12?
@@micahj9828 No, it has Legend V12... It's the Krank model everybody wanted like 10-15 years ago with the metal grille, front bass port and V12s.
Challenge....... What would those speakers sound like with the other amps like the engl, orange, and that marshall. Love these videos
Wow, this speaker sounds awesome. Just bought your IR pack. Can't wait to try them out.
I use to play in an band called Deeds of Flesh and I love what you got going on with everything in your studio. I Need to Record with you on previous grinds I have before I rot, Lol. Luv All your videos too, keep it going my brother !!!
Hey! Wasn’t Erik RIP playing in Deeds of Flesh?
@@KohleAudioKult Yes, He was always the vocal and guitar. I joined as their first second guitar .
Thank you for this video. That crushing tone is some ear candy!
Your delight and enjoyment for this speaker alone makes me want to have one :)
I'm always looking for a bassier version of the v30... this hits the mark... great articulation as well 👌 great job man!!
Good description. Sounds like what you need!
Awesome video comparison! I wish to see how it compares with the Celestion G12K100 that Mick Thomson used in his Rivera Cabs before his latest rig switch. I’m a fan of those and now these new Eminence DV-77 for sure!
The K100 sounds very different. Rather scooped than midforward
Aaaahhhh, finally someone got rid of this fucked up hollow harsh scratching in the highs the original V30 has. It's like putting a notch filter on the Eq, soooo much more pleasant!!!
