- FIRST LOOK: The Optiq is all new from Cadillac for 2025. On the outside you will discover a smaller SUV than the Lyriq, unique paint and two-tone paint. I hate SUVs, but Cadillac did something great! It’s like a shorter Lyriq. The only problem is you will never see one on the road (maybe 1) because the dumb dealers mark up everything.

Totally agree. Caddy's EV lineup is better than their ICE vehicles. Class leading.
GM has really been nailing the designs and redesigns of their cars/suvs recently. It’s also great they redesigned their charge port door. That shaky port door on the lyriq was rough.
I’m assuming this will probably be identical in size to the equinox ev.

This is exactly what I told my dealer I would want a couple of years ago. I sold my GMC Canyon and bought a new Tesla Model Y last year instead. It would be hard to trade in this great car , but because the Optic comes in orange, I might be ready to deal. I don't even want to know what other colours will be available. Joe, your reviews are more fun than anyone elses.
Cadillac has knocked it out of the park! The details and attention to craftsmanship is incredible. Making it fully loaded is a huge accomplishment. The lyric should be done simple just like the Optic. I hope it qualifies for the full $7500 tax credit. The Tesla competition just got a huge boost! Great job Cadillac! Hopefully GM has direct sales to avoid the price gouging from dealers!

The bottom storage area under the console is a place to put your trophy for most Twinkies eaten in a minute.

I love what they are doing…but I hate what Big Bill Hell’s Cadillac does down the road…mark up everything! Makes people not want to buy a EV that costs $50,000-$80,000…that is why Tesla (which I hate to say) is doing better in the market.

I was looking to see if the side of the Optiq had any design cues and the only one is at the bottom of the side body panels. Very clean lines.

Impressive for the price point. Not sure I'm sold on the graphics for the back window. It looks to busy especially with the lighting back there.

When you compare the dimensions (Length, Width, Wheelbase), the Optiq is really a premium Equinox EV.

I love how GM and Ford are taking from eachothers brands. That side door profile to the rear near the wheels ....Definitely Mach E. And I'm not mad.
That seems to be how things work in the auto industry.
Would love to own the Optiq. Waiting for the ranges to get 350+ and the charging network to be built out a bit more. My 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV is a dream to drive in EV mode, which is where it is most of the time. 😊
As much as I like my Tesla Model Y, I am seriously considering trading it for the Optiq. I'm looking forward to a good ride and not so much road noise.

Sorry, all SUV's need a rear wiper. Just ask Ioniq 5 owners. Cloth trims might be subject to premature wear. Give me a real latch for the glovebox. Seats have nice features. Why don't mfgs. make white shades for the glass roofs to reflect heat? Take a radiation meter along for your test ride to see if the vehicle is putting out dangerous levels of RF from the wifi hotspot and SuperCruise. If it's like the Lyriq, you can't disable 5G.
Where’s the apple CarPlay & how much it cost?
This truly is a beautiful well thought out vehicle design. I can see where GM is taking a huge risk in betting the public will finally embrace electric vehicles. If they don't I wonder if GM will survive given their huge investment in converting all their vehicles to EV's. Toyota has already put the brakes on EV production thinking it is not the future of mass transportation.
It's still pretty expensive. If it's over 50k than i think its expensive.
What do you think the price should be?

Great review as usual, Joe. Certainly a beautiful vehicle but I feel the industry is sending mixed signals here. One minute, they are all in on EV's. The next minute, they are pulling back and going all in on hybrids while also increasing the price on ICE vehicles to underwrite the manufacturing of these very expensive EV's. Even if I was in the market for an EV, which I am not, I wouldn't buy one. Maybe lease one but certainly not buy one. Even then, I would be very suspect at what is currently going on in the industry and if the support is going to be there down the road, so to speak.

Looks like a gussied up Chevy Blazer (or Trailblazer? Frankly, I can't keep track of all the generic junk GM tries to sell). Cadillac stands for nothing. There is no reason to get one. Also, Cadillac's decision to go all electric will be catastrophic. The EV fad is flatlining.

Great looking suv by Cadillac(rather have it in a rear-wheel based Awd 3.0 L 300 Hp or more twin -turbo gas engine) but I wish the government would just let these cars companies make hybrid vehicles and not have this deadline on going all vehicles EV by a certain year.They know we aren't ready to go fully electric yet.

The 300 range is key to me. But oddly the Equinox range is 285 for the same drivetrain. (I think)

Let's find out. I doubt it and fear it's Cadillacs being hopeful. But that is tempered by the Lyric numbers often exceeding the 314 number. 🤞🤞

Why would you want to make the vehicle inferior by making it gas? I've owned two EV's, I don't want to ever own another gas vehicle. Both EV's are superior in every way.

If ever a vehicle earned the moniker of CUV, this is it. Call it a SUV and everyone will knock it for its diminutive rear half. Same deal with our UX.
It is a beautiful ride. But EVs are taking a hit. And with only a 300 mile range, l doubt there'll be much of a rush for this beauty. Right now, a Hybrid option should mandatory for every model, IMHO.
