    I’m getting a little tired of the Saudi hate, nobody voiced a word until they started taking golfers. Isn’t Brandon about to fly over there and beg them to pump more oil?

  • @kellyanastasia2752

    I'm trying to understand all this but the outrage seems maybe a bit disingenuous. The PGA Tour already partners with a tour in China as well as the European Tour which has played events in Middle Eastern countries. The United States government does business with Saudi Arabia, U.S. corporations do enormous business with Saudi Arabia, U.S. consumers use their oil every day. This has gone on for years, but suddenly now a feign of conscience because they started a golf tour? I generally like Brandel and enjoy his candor, but I will have to disagree on this one.

    • @louhovatter
      @louhovatter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They sanction tournaments together which allows each tours players to play. In the players contracts it states you can only play in events sanctioned by their tours. This allows that! LIV golf doesn’t have that and isn’t sanctioned by the tours. Just one of the contract breeches!

    • @louhovatter
      @louhovatter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brandell doesn’t have any control with our Govt making deals with Saudi! Because of the Govt deals doesn’t allow pga tour members to play in their league! It comes down to a breech of the players contracts they sign a contract when they become pga tour members. Ironically the players of the pga tour set the rules they operate and play by! Phil and Norman want to take down the tour because they hate them like spoiled children!

    • @Diogenes-ty9yy
      @Diogenes-ty9yy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How that insufferable anal orifice Brandel can say that the LIV is "not growing the game" is incomprehensible. The LIV is changing professional golf and the hidebound PGA Tour is kicking and screaming to fight it. The LIV provides an opportunity for more pros to make more money, the places they formerly occupied on the PGA or DP Tours will be filled by golfers from developmental tours and minitours, and their places will be filled by others, More pro golfers, more money, more opportunities, and the amateur game and the once a week golfer, such as I, are unaffected. THAT is "growing the game", fighting to maintain the status quo is not.

  • @Individual_two
    @Individual_two 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    While I still think LIV Golf will only last as long as MBS's short attention span, I think it will force the PGA Tour to implement some changes. For one, there are way too many tournaments, 40 over a span of 38 weeks. The Tour should cut this down to no more than 25 tournaments, excluding the 4 majors and team events like the Ryder and President's Cup. The Tour needs to beef up tournament purses, which probably will require a tournament to have multiple corporate sponsors. The huge FedEx Cup money needs to get spread out over the season and not back-loaded as it is done currently. Finally, The Tour will need to break its long-standing tradition of not paying appearance fees to top stars. They know who they are and they should get paid.

      They can't pay appearance fees, as a not-for-profit organization. It's illegal. They could cut down on the # of tournaments and lump the money into a more condensed schedule, but I think that opens up a ton of problems, not the least of which is the complaints from the cities whose event got cancelled, and lost all of that local revenue. And you'd lose the pulse of the Fed-Ex Cup _Playoffs_ if there wasn't a big carrot at the end of that stretch. The players love playing for it too.

      What really bothers me is that the people who run the 4 Major tournaments all seem to be part of an "Old Boys Club." They can decide which players to invite or who have qualified but the standards they set are subject to change. That upper class twit Martin Slumbers, head of the R&A, said so much for anyone who wants to play the Open next year and he was alluding to a ban on LIV members. I hope the Augusta National club keeps an open mind on this and does not exclude LIV golfers simply for the fact that they're LIV golfers. To qualify for a major, a player must earn Official World Golf Ranking points and, at this time, the LIV is not included in giving out OWGR points, so whatever points a LIV player has, he cannot gain any more by simply playing the LIV. Something must be done to allow LIV players the opportunity to qualify for Majors. And, hopefully, the people who run the Open, the Masters, the PGA, and the US Open will not collude with Slumbers in excluding LIV players.

The PGA is in partnership with China, probably the worst violator of human rights in the world. I'm not here to defend the Saudis or LIV golf, but let's be fair. The PGA has no problem cozying up to a regime that persecutes people based on their beliefs, they force abortions on people who don't adhere to their one child only policy. They harvest organs out of living people. They have pretty much slave labor making gear for Nike and other companies that the PGA has no problem with their players wearing those logos. The PGA has no problem that their players go to Dubai, home of one of the world's largest sex trafficking operations. A place where young girls are brought in to be prostitutes to service the high rollers that go there. The hypocrisy of the PGA is quite evident. They are not on the moral high ground here. They just think they are.

I recall Phil won the PGA championship at the age of 50+, is this something "Seabiscuit" could have done? Is this something Brandel could have done in his prime? Nope, because he didn't. How many people here in America have left their job to go work for some other company that pays more? Than BC wants to bring up human rights violation concerns now that Phil is getting paid by the Saudis. Did Brandel complain about the Bush family whisking the Saudis out of the US when 911 happened? I doubt it. Didn't Brandel go work for the Golf Channel when he lost his tour card? Probably making more money now, than when he was on tour. Oh the hypocrisy.

      IIRC, 1930s Germany was one of IBM's best customers. No computers then, just punch card tabulating machines, but remember how the concentration camp prisoners all had a number tattooed on their arms? That number was on a punch card to keep track of that prisoner. When that prisoner died or was murdered, the card was simply removed from the card deck to keep the records straight. IBM helped keep the camps running efficiently. Standard Oil of New Jersey was selling tetraethyl lead to Germany for aviation gasoline before WW II. Did anyone carry the outrage over either of these companies into a refusal to do business? And, now IBM sponsors the Masters; any outrage over that? Business is business and all dollars are green.

      IMO, the PGA Tour has turned Brandel Chamblee into its Chief Propagandist, just like Josef Goebbels was for the Nazi party. He preaches the standard Tour party line which can be summarized as, "PGA Tour Good, LIV Evil." And, no deviation from this party line is allowed, especially at the Golf Channel where all the commentators are Tour party loyalists. As the Golf Channel is now in Connecticut like ESPN, I can only wonder if the commentators emulate Muslims. Muslims bow towards Mecca, I wonder if Brandel, Paul McGinley, and the other talking heads bow towards Ponte Vedra, FL, a few times daily in fealty to Jay Monahan and the Tour? I would not be surprised if they do, considering the biased rhetoric that emanates from the GC daily.
