This is by far the best recording of afterburner 2 and this game is the only commercially released game on the system that uses both the Yamaha YM 2612 and SN 76489 PSG chip for samples which as you said was done so sampled sound effects didn’t cut into the sampled percussion which is different from the arcade original. Fun fact, Dempa who makes the frame Meister developed this Mega Drive port and another iinteresting fact is that Noriyuki Iwadare was responsible for the Mega Drive conversion of the Afterburner 2 arcade soundtrack.

It sounds so much better than on any emulator i have heard! Congratulations! This was another game that i have only experienced in emulation form and i was not impressed how it sounded, but listening the real deal is changing my opinion on this game´s soundtrack. Now i am wondering how will sound on my Model 2 VA1 Genesis. 🤔

Man these game prices today are getting weird
