It was a great remix on top of that too - they recreated those synth sounds really well. I never see anyone mention that - especially the Natols section
This is a great OST but I can't help but laugh as soon as I hear the intro theme. It's impossible not to be reminded of the corny mistranslation when I hear it.
@@tessatessa3894 the PC Engine version is a lazy port with boring, easy gameplay that will make you snore. The enemies move slowly, their projectiles ever more so. The bosses are pushovers most of the time, especially the final boss. The CD music, while decent, isn't nearly as adrenaline-pumping as the Genesis soundtrack. It would've been better had it gotten a release on HuCard and came with a PC Engine wavetable soundtrack.
YES YES THANK YOU!! I'VE BEEN TOTALLY ADDICTED TO THIS SOUNDTRACK FOR LIKE A MONTH NOW AND FINALLY I CAN HEAR IT IN CRISP, CLEAR AUDIO! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
I'd totally forgotten about this game! Thanks for the upload, this amazing soundtrack now feels like it was yesterday when I first nodded my head along to it.
Kinda sad, but heartwarming at the same time. In the cinematic, accompanying it, the damaged ZIG, with clouds of debris around it, is shown getting rescued by some capital ship.

Amazing ost here! That twanga bass sounds just like Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. The part at 7:17 sounds just like early Iron Maiden no joke. Cube/Dougen Shibuya
The Genesis was weird like this. Either you got ear splitting noise or life defining sound tracks. Something about that Yamaha chip was hard to master. But worth it.
Well, mainly Western studios didn't have as much mastery of FM as the Japanese ones, although there are exceptions like Matt Furniss's 50 soundtracks, Mega Turrican, Zyrinx soundtracks and some other soundtracks made with GEMS (a great tool with wasted potential), although it must also be taken into account that Arcade also has soundtracks with FM chips and they sound worse than several Genesis games and that Genesis audio emulation was poor for almost two decades. Genesis is not the first nor the last system to have a Yamaha FM chip.
There are no FM drums here, the drums here are PCM and in fact easily 80% of MD soundtracks use the DAC for sampled drums, many MD soundtracks are not 100% FM.
Honestly, had I known about shooters like this back in the day, I wouldn't have been an SNES guy. This game is incredibly impressive graphically and the audio is through the roof. Might be my favorite Genny soundtrack. Competes with DKC, and has aged better graphically. SNES might have been the more modern console and a precursor of modern games, but this old horse now prefers the older game styles. The PSX-era took "modern" gaming to even greater heights of length, grinding, overly long and convoluted story-telling, simplified (or overly complex) mechanics...basically accentuating the worst of the SNES era rather than the best. Now I spend most of my gaming time mining the past (with a little dedicated to Nintendo's excellent modern output, and unique indies like those put out by Inti-Creates).

the rock music part from invasion of the gabber robots/all your base always sounded like it came from a big long boss battle, did that guy seriously take like 30 seconds from the intro and make it the base for an entire track? makes it even better
I guess it's because it's not only one of the first memes to exist, but also the first meme to refer to history. For a meme that spawned around 1999-2001, it feels really odd.

Let's be honest, this music being so good is half the reason the meme ever took off.

This OST is fucking epic. The megadrive sountrack is best than the arcade one. Holy shit stage 2 music is so gooooood.

This is a prime example of epic Japanese chip music.

This game and Musha Aleste have the best OSTs, after Thunder Force IV, for this type of vgm metal genre imo.

We put our faith in Blast Hardcheese. Also, for some reason, that music makes me think of Reimu and Meira's dialogue.

Interestingly enough, a lot of video game music is heavily inspired from heavy metal, it's just different "instruments".
@@amdstrollo3074 This is definitly heavy metal

Heavy metal as well as progressive rock.

The riff at 14:53 sounds quite AC/DC-ish. Some songs clearly have some '70s heavy metal influences.
