- The first in a new series. 10 Minutes of Video Game Music is 10 minutes of my favorite video game music. First up: Final Take Off from After Burner II.
Listen in high quality here: • 10 Minutes of Video Ga...
Music recorded from the Sega Saturn port.
"FIRE! FIRE!-FIRE! FI-FIRE!"
(DING DING DING DING DING!)
*STAGE 2*
"THE ENEMY! BREAK LEFT!"
“GET READY!”
🛫
hah funny how these old MIDI tunes appeal to us bass players - and they do rock!
I love how the graphics come right up in your face,,,,,,and when you fire a missle you see the smoke path all the way to the target
やっぱ、ノンメロが萌える!
I love listening to the music without all the hectics of the game itself ... makes me appreciate the theme music even more ...
The 80's videogames and the pinballs of that era were the most awesome for sound effects and sounds ... games today are nowhere near as well integrated; they only focus on the eye candy instead of the total gaming experience.
And that's why I play games on my classic consoles more than my modern ones. Most modern games are not appealing to me at all, but the classics are all about the gameplay, which is why I love them so much.
@Alianger - The lead melody is only found in the alternate soundtrack available in the Japanese version of After Burner II, but along with that, there is the music from the original Sega X-Board release. You can alternate between the two soundtracks in the Japanese Saturn version.
Come to think of it, I might upload a 15 Minutes of Video Game Music clip of the melody version of Final Take Off at a later date.
FIRE.....nuff said
80's and 90's games just dominate
This is pretty cool. Remember watching T2 with John Connor playing it in the arcade in one scene.
Outrun 'Passing Breeze' will be my all-time fave arcade soundtrack!
@kwabara1983 - I wasn't even around in the '80s to experience the games of that era in their prime. I only got into gaming in 1997, but with my dissatisfaction of many of today's games, the oldies from back before I was even born are very appealing to me. Hell, I go as far back as 1977's Atari 2600.
Though I do think I should start throwing in arcade boards along with my home consoles(and a nice homemade cocktail arcade cabinet to fit the boards into).
Vintage Music....After Burner is a classic!!!!!
(0:00 - The sound of your aircraft's engine powering up can be heard, as your crew prepares the runway for you. Suddenly, you hit the thruster and you blast down the runway off the aircraft carrier and blaze off into the distance ready for aerial combat!)
*STAGE 1*
*FIRE, FIRE! FI-FI-FIRE!*
At some parts, it reminds me of The Who's - Won't Get Fooled Again or Patti Smith's - Privilege (Set Me Free).
@tbone2004 - That's because it's not part of the song. If you were to go into the Sound Test of an original After Burner II arcade board, you would not be hearing "GET READY!" when Final Take Off starts to play.
Sounds like someone's been listening to too much Queen (the guitar reminds me a little bit of "Hammer to Fall" with a little bit of "Tear It Up", both from the 1984 album The Works). :)
This is my main theme song.
In my experience, several of Wolf Team's games (Sol-Deace/Feace, El Viento, etc.) published by Renovation also used bass like that. Good times.
@Alianger - Now that you mention the Sega Master System port of After Burner, I've planned to upload the PSG version of Final Take Off. I have the song sampled from my Sega Master System, so all that needs to be done is to put the video together.
Then, when I get a NeoMyth MD flash cartridge, I'll resample the rarely-heard FM version of Final Take Off as the NeoMyth MD has a real Yamaha YM2413 integrated in the cartridge(the 10 Minutes of Video Game Music clip used emulation).
im gona play that on a bass
This... Outrun, 720 and Gliderider... Best 80's computer gme music ;0)
@Ace9921 Thanks for the info. I just prefer that one since it's the first one I heard (on SMS of all versions, but still a great track), looking forward to the upload.
FIRE FIRE FIRE FI-FI-FI-FIRE
"THE ENEMY! BREAK RIGHT!"
firefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefirefire!! lol
I'd love to hear how that would sound.
This is pretty comparable to "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins.
I'd love to hear this with an 80's make over.
That makes two of us
Ace9921 where can I download this song final take off extended theme from big a Harding Salt Lake City Utah 84108
so there's no lead melody in the saturn versions of the tracks?
I MUST make a video edit of Rainbow Dash flying to this song!
