Even as a Honda guy and having not owned a VW in over 20 years, I must say I enjoy the time and dedication you and other VW enthusiast put into the brand. Car guys respect clean cars regardless of logo.

Ah the joy of working on a VR6 in a golf, reminds of the good old days...back then I thought it was tight and difficult to work on. But compared to modern cars it's actually not that bad.
This channel always tempts me to get another Audi or VW but then I get in my Japanese car and think of all the usual VAG issues that I’ll never have to deal with on my car. Then I think, “you know what, watching VW videos rather than owning one is good enough to scratch that itch!”

Fun fact about Alberta and snow...I lived there for 5 years in the '90s...they don't use much if at all any salt, they lay down aggregate on the road for traction over salt...it works better however it can be a bear with glass some times.
Charles, you are the first YT mechanic/car guy that I have seen remove the stickers from the tires. Thanks you! 😂 I’m glad I’m not alone when the sticker tires drive me crazy
It's always satisfying to see an R taken care of properly, especially when I keep tabs on dismantlers (for parts, just in case) who seem to be parting/junking them on a weekly basis (exaggeration but it's frequent)
The O-rings for the bevel box are standard metric sized o-rings. (13.5X3.5), (20X3.15) and (68X2.5). Next time ya'll are in Knoxville area, let me know. I've got beer, pinball, choco lab and if needed 2 guest bedrooms.
Great video man, and awesome to see it at WITW. It was definitely nice to see and the owner (McKay) is super cool too! A lot of work done, but those new engine mounts at 36:30 .. whoa ... engine hardly moved when you rev'ed it.

Funny thing about that chopped car trailer guy that you catch a glimpse of in this video. He’s another TH-camr. I just saw a couple videos of him fixing and building it before WITW about 2 weeks ago. Pure coincidence that probably the first shot of actual WITW Charles captures him on video. Great job and good luck on all the work you’ve done and will do. Awesome video once again, any R32 content, especially something as extensive as this one we cannot get enough of. What should R32 owner's with low mileage cars buy now that will be needed later? Since you said things are harder and harder to find, I'd like to buy now before parts are all gone. I never removed the front transfer case to remove the trans in orde to replace the clutch. The only problem is that it makes it a lot heavier and harder to remove and install the gearbox with the transfer case on. A FWD gearbox is just way easier because no extra parts to remove.

You've got this Benz guy watching videos of VW's. In regards to parts NLA at the dealer, OE suppliers should be allowed to produce and sell parts directly with no restrictions. I know some carry the same parts in OEM branded boxes and some with their own label.
I actually have a question. My buddy has a 08 GTI that he's had since new and wants to sell to me. He's been driving it since purchase and now has 280k (American). Is it worth buying? He's only asking $3gs and he's kept it up to date on maintenance (so he says). Also, doing a awd swap a major pain to do for that series GTI? I've never owned a German car and I am mechanically oriented to an extent.
To bad you don't work on Toyota's. My late cousin gave me his father's 2000 Camry LE 4 cylinder and boy does it need work. I mean it still runs but it need a lot of repairs. I just think the Camry wasn't maintained properly. I'm trying to undo what they didn't do. I can do small repairs to the Camry but not major repairs. I also want to make the Camry more sporty. Yeah I know everyone is telling me it's a family car. I have one thing to say to that. It's my car I'll do what I want with it. I love watching your videos.

Fun fact about Alberta and snow...I lived there for 5 years in the '90s...they don't use much if at all any salt, they lay down aggregate on the road for traction over salt...it works better however it can be a bear with glass some times.

Thanks for this informative video, great workmanship and I love the glorious sound of the r32
For some of those hard to find gaskets, you might be able to 3D print in a flexible material. The engine bay fuel clips could be printed as well. Didn't see anything on Printables or Thingiverse, but I'm sure someone could model them up pretty easily.
There was a company that made billet Ali ones but where only made part of a group buy and not really seen for sale new .
I love the sound of R32 engine, just can't explain the feeling.
You've got this Benz guy watching videos of VW's. In regards to parts NLA at the dealer, OE suppliers should be allowed to produce and sell parts directly with no restrictions. I know some carry the same parts in OEM branded boxes and some with their own label.
Was that a eip short shifter I saw I remember that company when I had my 337
I actually have a question.
@moss550M How's the turning when going fast with FWD?
@@Veldkamp88 A 08 Civic Si will have a stock LSD which will make for better corner exits than the Rabbit.
Once again, great content. ❤
Charles fixed up a Camry once, he was surprised at how easy it was lol... Almost like it is not designed to anger technicians unlike VWs. 😂
See that storage place parking lot brings back memories. Use to actual have a storage unit there
@Humblemechanic1149 my fault my fault. I don’t know where this is at 😉
Keep posting videos like this really good content watched everything
Where did you get the cool aluminum R branded strut top caps seen at 39:11 ? Looks like they are held on by a set screw.
The client got them used I think.
it is an obsession but you seem to do a good job and the latest products really do look nice
