You guys couldn't be more pleasant. It's great. She shows such enthusiasm and understanding, and he has his knowing looks and very good insight into the lyrics (much better than myself, and it's no contest, lol). Just wanted to drop a comment to show you guys my love.
Love the channel guys, keep up the good work. Happy early New Year. This song was used by someone (not going to mention his name ) for his campaign entrance song. Yet he dodged the draft to avoid going into military service for his country.
This song always reminds me of my father and his brothers being sent off to Vietnam to fight because they came from a poor family but my mother’s brothers hid behind the family’s money and influence.
This song perfectly captures the voice of a generation. Where are the songs like this today? I love that you both pick up on the way CCR was able to take ~3 minutes of your time and, not only have something meaningful to say, but say it in an entertaining way... and not waste a single second.
Songs like "Susie Q", "Fortunate Son", and "Run through The Jungle" were all songs used in the Viet Nam war movie "Apocalypse Now." CCR is one of the greatest groups ever!... And their music and body of work are now consider "Classics." Awesome reaction by you both...Priceless!
One of the best protest song of the Viet Nam War era especially against the draft!!. The draft arranged the 365 days of the year (allegedly) randomly each year and they would draft from the first birthday whatever day it was till the end of that year. Some years they would get into the 200's so unless your draft number was very high 300+ you had to sweat being draft and shipped off to the jungle. However, you could get a deferment or as many a Senator's son or Millionaire's son also found medical deferments, that left the rest of us less fortunate sons to be the ones send off to jungle patrol and fight during our 12 month rotation. Worst yet, having no choice about being drafted and sent to fight (that or jail) you ended up hated and vilified on your return as a baby killer based on atrocities committed by a few that was blamed on us all. This song really captured the anger and frustration of the grunts who were the ones who fought died or were wounded in that hell hole. The draft ended due to the anger and the protests that raged during the 60's, just look at the footage of the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago to see what went on in the streets outside the convention to know what a real turbulent time that was and this song was released a year later and some how bound the war protesters with the grunts fighting it at the time!! A short song with a very deep and vivid image conveyed about the inequality that sadly still persists to this day.
You nailed it perfectly! Just know, the rich could buy their sons out of the draft then. ANYONE with no money... go fight! Get killed! You understand. Thank you. Humans are human
Denys, Yeah he was the only guitarist who would take a Jimi Hendrix tune and play it behind his back because just playing it wasn't much of a challenge lol
I always love your reactions guys. This song always get's me going, even at my ripe old age of 66. CCR were one of the truly great rock bands of the '60's and John Fogerty's voice sounds just as good now as it ever did back then. Try listening to his original version of Rocking All Over The World if you can.
Keep up the great reviews that are very welcoming and inspiring. Yeah great song, for sure! and while I enjoy the spontaneity of listening to songs, I at the same time do enjoy that the historical context provides more impact for this song.
This was about the lucky Trump’s who did not have to go fight in Viet Nam because of entitlement.Try their long song “ Run Through the Jungle.”Great reaction by you two.
This is a great song w/ powerful meaning! Our soldiers were treated so bad, by our own! They were drafted, and had no choice! They were spit on when they came home!!😢😡😤😢
I always thought this was about how certain people were never drafted into the Vietnam War, usually people who were wealthy or politically or militarily connected. Everyone else was fair game.
The genius of CCR was John Fogerty, period. I was not only not the fortunate one, I was unlucky, graduating High School in June 1972, and drafted into the Marines and sent to Vietnam in December 1972, got hit with exploding mortar shell in January 1973, and sniper fire in arm in April near Xuan Loc; Nixon ended the draft in June 1973, and i was back home by June.
I served at the Army's National Training Center in the Mojave Desert back in the mid 90s. Among other equipment, we used a visually modified (fiberglass bolted on) Huey to represent a Soviet-era Hind helicopter gunship (we played the bad guys). Every time that chopper flew over, me & my squad-mates would mouth guitar the opening notes to this song. :)
Ok - just subscribed. I was born in 1948 so I'll be listening suggesting and commenting on your reactions to 50's 60's and early 70's songs. I hope you get to listen to CCR's Looking Out My Back Door. Not as heavy as this one. Peace and Love.
One thing this song cannot portray is the other side. For all those who were crying "it ain't me" there were boys stepping up and saying "ok, it will be me". This song requires both perspectives

Anti war song. Fogerty had just gotten a draft notice to go to the Vietnam war and was ticked off and wrote this to express his feelings
This song always reminds me of my father and his brothers being sent off to Vietnam to fight because they came from a poor family but my mother’s brothers hid behind the family’s money and influence.
Best folk southen rock group grew up as a teen in the 70s

I don't think there is such a thing as a bad CCR song.
kwcozort true story 👍
You got that right, that is the same as trying to find a bad preformance by Stevie Ray Vaughn does not exist
You nailed it perfectly! Just know, the rich could buy their sons out of the draft then. ANYONE with no money... go fight! Get killed! You understand. Thank you. Humans are human

C.C.R. one of the best bands of all time. Timeless songs ! 🎶🎵👏🔥
A powerful tune released during a turbulent era. But only CCR could make a statement like that and still have a kick-ass rocker of a song.
indeed, it was a bit of an anthem back in the day. ccr was known for anti war stuff. very popular at the time.
It's great seeing people who actually put effort in their content. most reaction or analysis channels are bland. Thank you for such quality content.
i love this channel! great music, and actual honest reactions ... not repeating what is the popular view! :) big love to all people :)
This song and other CCR songs are in almost every war movie. GREAT REACTION 👍👍🤘🤘 you guys are the 😎😎
You guys are the only reactors I have seen who GET this song. Love what you guys do here!
Man I love CCR even after 35+ years of listening to them.
Classic song about being one of the "have not's" who have to fight and die for the rich.
You guys are always the best
Well done. Great observation of what the lyrics mean. I love when he said, "I ain't no Senator's son". Love CCR!

One song missing from the Creedence Clearwater cannon "Run through the Jungle" one of their best.
I Love CCR and there is no ambiguity in this one. Great reaction.
According to Hollywood movies, this is the sound a Huey helicopter makes on takeoff.
Most songs in the 60's were short to insure radio play
I liked it just because your facial reaction to “more more more.”
Lovin’ the ccr ! Should watch the video. Really shows what the war was about for so many young soldiers.
Yes, just found you channel a few days ago. I appreciate your perspective. I love CCR also. Look forward to veiwing other reactions.
You guys are a great reaction channel. :)
I was 15 years-old when this song came out and the war in Vietnam was raging.
If we had had an active draft in 2001 we wouldn’t have been in the Middle East for 20 years!!
Trump just played this at his rally.. people are pist!!! HE IS THE FORTUNATE SON.
Keep up the great reviews that are very welcoming and inspiring. Yeah great song, for sure! and while I enjoy the spontaneity of listening to songs, I at the same time do enjoy that the historical context provides more impact for this song.

This was put out as we fought in Vietnam, a protest song, love it.

This is a great song w/ powerful meaning! Our soldiers were treated so bad, by our own! They were drafted, and had no choice!
They were spit on when they came home!!😢😡😤😢
The first time I heard this song was the Bob Seger cover but I surely related to the lyrics just the same. Great song.
Also, Donald Trump is a great example of being a "Fortunate Son"!!
MAGA!
@@nostravonus don't judge me! That song is a political song, what I said was not untrue! If you don't like my post, just move on!!
And you're an example of a liberal meat puppet

C.C.R.'s timeless classic
I always thought this was about how certain people were never drafted into the Vietnam War, usually people who were wealthy or politically or militarily connected.
Everyone else was fair game.
This song defined the the Vietnam War.
The genius of CCR was John Fogerty, period. Ritch people hardly ever go to war. Poor people does.
Try Creedence Clearwater Revival - Ramble Tamble, The most insane rock song with 🔥🔥🔥🔥 instrumental I've ever heard.
Glad you guys got the message got a like from me
you nailed it !
😍😎😍, j'adore !!!
When I hear this I think of a Huey Gunship with the 30 cal. hanging out of the door flying over the jungles of Vietnam.

You should listen to John Fogerty's solo music. Try the tune, Rockin' All Over The World. Also the tune, Centerfield.
I love this song
