Neil is considered one of the best drummers ever. However to see them live and watch Geddy Lee sing, play bass, keyboards and Taurus pedals all at once. It's incredible to see. You'll get a bunch of song requests or ideas. I would just recommend that whatever you pick, it should be a live performance. Take care!
Neil Peart is such an amazing drummer and I'm not surprised you picked up on that. I appreciate traditional Indian music and the drumming (talba for example) is an integral part.
@@JeremyGregson I third it. That live performance of Xanadu is a defining moment in the bands career, and probably one of the best live performances by any rock band ever.
Glad these 3 talents found each other and made talented and beautiful music for forty plus years? The live version of “ The Garden” will make you cry.Look at their youth.
The singer, Geddy plays the bass, and keyboards. All three masters. Look how young they are. I seen them in 79 and they all had long hair. Three naturals coming together to make MAGIC. TRULY
Yeah you would think that there is four or five in that band with everything you hear the Lead, Bass, Synths, Vocals it sounds like a much larger group than just a trio. Rush will always be my favorite group.
The drummer Neil Peart had a drum set made of a 1500 year old oak trunk found in a bog in Romania. Love your reaction I've seen them 12 times live and never disappointed. ✌️✌️
Inspired and inspiring from Neil Peart. The man was a poet of great humility and humanity and is hugely missed. Still, we can be glad he left us with so much great music with so many ideas.
Great reaction. The video was shot at Le Studio in Quebec. It’s in ruins now. 😞. Please react to Porcupine Tree! I think you will love them. Especially, if you like Rush.
the song is about the spirit of adventure and discovery that we all have in our youth. when you're young, everything is exciting and new -- but as we get older, we become more jaded and bored with the responsibilities and trials of life. the title comes from mark twain's novel about a boy's adventures with his friend huck finn in 19nth century america. the song takes that same spirit of adventure and updates it for the generation that came of age in the early 1980's. there are allusions to popular culture in the 1980's, such as "the space he invades..." - referring to an arcade video game called "space invaders." the original tom sawyer (from the novel) did things like skipping school, going fishing, and hunting for buried treasure. the updated tom sawyer (in the song) goes to video arcades and rock concerts. the message of the song is that although the world changes from one generation to the next, kids remain basically the same, always looking for some new thing to experience and explore.
disagree, Todays Tom Sawyer get's high on you and the space he invades he gets by on you is more in the books Tom wouldn't back down, he would get in your space and wouldn't back down from a fight or argument. He would get a adreline rush (no pun intended) from the fact that he wasn't backing down (He gets high on you) and stood up to anyone that would challenge him (with the exception of Injun Joe from the book)
Great reaction to my favorite band...Geddy Lee(Bass...Keyboards & Vocals) Alex Lifeson(Guitars) & Neil Peart (Drums and writes the lyrics) after 41 years of recording and touring they retired in 2015...if you are going to do more Rush reactions i suggest you find live versions of their songs as they are even more amazing live...my suggestion for another Rush reaction is Xanadu from Exit Stage Left th-cam.com/video/VuHS-gjMiVw/w-d-xo.html
This video as well as all of the Moving picture album i think was recorded at Le Studio Morin Heights Quebec Canada near Montreal sadly the studio was abandonned and went in flames two years ago ... like your channel two genuine human beeing your are that's refereshing !!
If you is think this is incredible you should see them LIVE! I've seen them live three times and there aren't enough words to describe how completely awsome they are watching them play this shit live and seeing Alex tear it up on lead, Geddy just destroy the bass lines and Neil is a GOD on drums!!
Rush is just an incredible group at every level.. It's amazing how much music 3 guys can put out.. And seeing them at least 4 times live.. it's amazing that they can perform these songs in a live setting.. As amazing a drummer that Neil Peart was.. He was also an Incredible lyricist... Red Barchetta is in my top 5 best lyrics From any group ..that he wrote.. geddy Lee is one of the best bass players.. And Alex' is incredible on guitar... You should check out the song "trees"
Welcome to the rabbit hole if Rush!! So much to explore, please enjoy the journey, Neil Peart(RIP) drummer, also lyricist, Geddy Lee bass, vocals, keyboards, Alex Lifeson, guitar
You guys are fun to watch. Rush is one of the very few bands that sound as good if not better live. And you are right, it's just 3 guys making that much sound. Some Rush songs to suggest: New World Man, Subdivisions, and there too many to narrow down! They span 40+ years of music. Each album has a different sound, but every song is identifiable as a Rush tune. If you want some other (non-Rush suggestions, I've been into rock/metal since 1984. I have MANY suggestions! Love from Anchorage, Alaska USA.
Love your reactions. Its makes me so happy to see someone enjoy the music of my high school years for the first time. From Oklahoma USA thank you and I hope you enjoy more great music.
Tom Sawyer was inspired by "Mark Twain" / Samuel Clemons. An Amirican story teller/ author. Tom was a ceractor in a novel. "Huck Fin". Samuel Clemens had quit a view on life. Thankyou ✌☺
I think you guys are great. I saw your reaction to ‘Limelight’ and enjoyed that as well. Keep up the great work. If you haven’t done ‘Spirit of Radio’ or ‘Freewill’ I HIGHLY recommend these two very precise, exemplary tracks. Much Love!
One thing about Rush if you ever had an opportunity to see them live is that according to many people's opinion they are better live than in the recording studio. Just for your information they officially retired a few years ago after 40 years playing together.
I saw something recently though that Geddy and Alex may be doing something in the future, though it will be without Neil I'm still hopeful we get to hear them together at least on one more work.
To say a bit more, this song is from Moving Pictures, released in 1981. The band released its first album in 1974, with drummer John Rutsey. Starting with their second album and going until the band retired in 2016, Neil Peart was the drummer and practically their sole lyricist. Again, my strongest recommendation would be to react to the live version of Xanadu from the Exit... Stage Left recording. You just have to see and hear the band live.
crisp and clear drumming! ;) and the same for the bass, synth, and guitar, no doubt... :) that is what rush is all about!! :)) you two are so cute, coming to this western style rock... and, admittedly, this isn't the most common form of western rock you will find. (and, these guys were doing this =thirty= years ago!! ;0)
You picked out a really great song to listen to. The harmony and emotions between the music and the lyrics is flawless. The song is beautifully constructed and is a true classic! If you want to hear something different but still an incredible piece of prog rock music, listen to Jacob's Ladder from their Permanent Waves album. It's not quite a song as it as musical composition. It feels.... grand.
Neil Elwood Peart, 1952 - 2020, providing goosebumps with his percussion and lyrics with Rush since August 1974 (his first gig with them) and lasting forever...what a fine fellow.
The last time I saw Rush, they actually had to lift Neil Peart and set him into the drum kit. His drums circled him, so the online way to get in was to lift him, and set him down in the middle. Unfortunately Rush is no longer touring. Neil Peart is having medical issues. Arthritis in his wrist, knees, and I believe he said his elbows as well.
To begin with, listen to every album from Hemispheres through Signals. Then watch Rush in Rio live performance. Also highly recommend "Exit....Stage Left" like others here.
I disagree start with Rush and Fly By Night and then continue through each album as each album in itself is a separate journey and similiar but different. And shows their progression and growth in their music.
Some musicians tend to dismiss Peart and Rush because their technical skills are not at the level of bands like Dream Theater, Animals as Leaders or countless jazz fusion bands out there. Rush is about uniqueness, excitement and great songwriting. All elements, no matter how complex or weird, serves the song and that makes them easily accessible to most people.
You guys should check out a band call Tool. I’m almost certain you will enjoy it. I’d recommend the songs lateralus or Jambi or 46 and 2. If you do try and get a lyric video, most other “music videos” are fan made. Keep being awesome guys!
I just had a thought … The Tragically Hip are just like RUSH,,,...Canadian Icons ...all the songs are great and they are very tight ,start from the first album and move along on order is the only best way ..do it right and hear the complete catalogue in order, one of the bands best live shows is Woodstock 1999 what a showman and u wanna talk about Charisma,, Gord had it all
Neil Pert (drummer) and Alex Lifeson (guitar) had more raw talent at their instruments, but considering Geddy Lee played keyboard, bass, and was the lead singer I think he might actually be the most impressive of the three. No matter how you slice this bad was just oozing talent.
Appreciating you...appreciating Neil. I'm sure you will have seen these...but here's links anyway; Neil epic solo... th-cam.com/video/LWRMOJQDiLU/w-d-xo.html and all 3 guys playing like 6 musicians on stage... th-cam.com/video/VuHS-gjMiVw/w-d-xo.html The talent of this band is mind-numbing. I agree i've seen them live three times and worth going every time they never disappoint!
I remember being mesmerized. We were stage left. Lol. Left side, super close. 79. Phoenix.
The Professor
Agreed, I've seen them live and to watch Geddy multi task like that is incredible. To get that much sound out of a 3 piece band remains unmatched.
Neil Peart is such an amazing drummer and I'm not surprised you picked up on that. I appreciate traditional Indian music and the drumming (talba for example) is an integral part.
If you want your minds blown, react to the live version of Xanadu from the “Exit... Stage Left” video. Seriously.
I second this, it is mind blowing the sounds that 3 people can make. The live version of Xanadu Exit Stage Left is amazing!
@@JeremyGregson I third it. That live performance of Xanadu is a defining moment in the bands career, and probably one of the best live performances by any rock band ever.

Saw RUSH in the early 1980s, and still one of the best concerts I have ever been too. Amazing virtuoso players, all 3.
I seen them in 79. They were number one, Van Halen was number 2. Best concerts ever. 79. Phoenix
He knows changes aren't permanent
But change is
So beautiful and true
YYZ. Live in Rio. The BEST live performance ever for Rush.
I saw this live when it came out. Geddy Lee sings, plays keyboard and bass at the same time. Never heard such big sound from 3 guys.
Yeah you would think that there is four or five in that band with everything you hear the Lead, Bass, Synths, Vocals it sounds like a much larger group than just a trio. Rush will always be my favorite group.
Early Rush from Canada.....great to see it done live.Unlimited talent.Yes,Geddy does bass, singing, and keyboards.
RUSH are/were consummate musicians! The best of the best! TIMELESS!
The drummer Neil Peart had a drum set made of a 1500 year old oak trunk found in a bog in Romania. Love your reaction I've seen them 12 times live and never disappointed. ✌️✌️
Peart obviously one of the all-time great drummers
You guys are fun to watch. The universal good vibrations.
"No changes are permanent, but change is."
Inspired and inspiring from Neil Peart. The man was a poet of great humility and humanity and is hugely missed. Still, we can be glad he left us with so much great music with so many ideas.
Neil Peart ..one of the best drummers on the planet ..
He is. And Geddy is one the best bass players. The entire band is incredibly gifted.
Great reaction. The video was shot at Le Studio in Quebec. It’s in ruins now. 😞. Please react to Porcupine Tree! I think you will love them. Especially, if you like Rush.

I am really loving your reaction. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I would suggest YYZ in Rio. Three guys, lots of sounds.
I'm loving your reactions! Especially, to RUSH!
Neil Peart on the drums was one of the best! He was givin the nickname "The Professor" early in his career when people took notice of his abilities!
His daughter has been given the nickname the little professor...lol
LOVE MY RUSH

Rush also has a song called "Xanadu"... excellent song. 🙂
red barchetta and spirit of the radio I recommend

No such song as Spirit of the Radio.
The video was shot at a famous studio in Quebec Canada

You absolutely should watch Rush - YYZ, live in Rio. Watching the crowd is almost as much fun as the band.

That is from R40. That is a good version, but the Exit... Stage Left recording is best. Find it here:
