The day Louise ended her gymnastics career, was a huge loss for gymnastics. This girl was such a talented gymnast. The absolute witch hunt on her is disgusting. I salute her for her bravery. I thank Carte Blanche for finally exposing Derek for what he truly was. We trusted him with our children. We were all fooled. Constantly seeing the comments of "Where were the parents?" disgusts me, because I was at every practice, and never did I see him being inappropriate with any female gymnast, just very abusive & aggressive towards the male gymnasts. He was as cunning as a fox. Very charming & likable. WE ALL LOVED HIM. WE TRUSTED HIM! He fooled us all. :( Just a correction on the timeline @carteblance, this has been going on since 2008!!

I danced, my mum was at EVERY PRACTICE, needless to say these things can happen with a parent in the room. It can be put on parents only when the child comes forth - whatever the parents do from here, they could be held liable.

This story just made me cry. Such abuse happened or happens in some families with a mother present at home 24/7. People who are trusted are mostly the most cunning and dangerous. I am so overprotective with my kids because of such. The only time and place I don’t see them is when they are at school and I pray for their protection. Since this is close to you, I pray that you heal from whichever way it affected you and everyone else.
I get beyond enraged when these socalled people in authority say they never knew, even when there were children who complained, they were never believed. Also the owner that said "if they would have done something wrong". They DID something wrong!!! He also said Derick took his own life to protect his family from the attack on the club by certain parties. What about the attack, over years and years on defenseless girls. Let me tell all who do not know, this scars you for life. You NEVER really get over it. They all talk about the person who took his life, what about the dozens of girls who will never HAVE a life because of his actions.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. Those who were informed and failed to investigate should be held liable for paying the victims for physiological damages. An amount should be determined by a court of law. GBV deserves decisive action, not delayed, to prove to the woman at large out there that justice takes place.

This is so very common. All men should be dismissed in management. There's a club near where I live and it's run by women. All male coaches must be checked thoroughly and if coaching girls a lady must be watching. Cameras everywhere.😢😢😢
In these days, parents are to blame because it's not just a sport for their children to enjoy, but a competition amongst their piers. At the tender age, you can immediately pick up something wrong with your child. My heart goes out to the lady that came forward with her traumatic events because now she will have to relive it and build herself up all over again. Any sporting federation needs to be monitored alot closer and our children should not be abused like this. Taking his own life was an easy way out. A letter of apology does not cut it. Why are parents still supporting this club? Can they not see the emotional trauma in the beautiful soul that came forward. For the club, it's just business. Sad, sad ,sad. 😢😢😢
Unacceptable that the men in charge keep making excuses and say it’s impossible to make changes to protect these children. They should all be fired and replaced with people who care about making sure it doesn’t happen again instead of making excuses for their ineptitude.
These predators far too often choose areas to operate in where they have the opportunity to be 1) in an authoritarian position and therefore disguised behaviour of 2) grooming these vulnerable children to be groomed. They DEPEND on the fact that i) these young people will not be believed and ii) their narcissistic cover of charm to the outside world. It’s extremely disappointing that the adults in control and at the top are so adamant about their denial.
