Not sure if this is applicable/pertinent: my answer as a sculpting artist (I celebrated this by means of a TH-cam video) to counterfeit actions: I keep on "CREATING UNCONDITIONALLY". Maybe some spiritual/existential advice to all the businesses and individuals in many areas of specialization who are plaqued by this scourge?
I disagree, if the police stop you and request to search your car and you refuse, Is it because you are hiding something..? I always refuse them to search my property if they don't have the paperwork to give them the right to do so, and its not because I'm hiding anything, it's because i stand up for my rights,

Their vendor-vetting processes were bureaucratically long previously - hence less profitable. Once they decided hire ANC comrades to do the vetting - they became profitable. Connect the dots, 1+1=2.

Is that when you cancel the order? If so that's quite normal, as sellers once the courier logged we can't cancel the courier fee with let's say pudo and get your courier money back
This is because takealot allows sellers to copy other sellers products without actually having to upload their own catalogue or product. So a seller with a fake thing can simply copy the original thing and deliver it as original. This damages the original sellers product.
I do think Takealot price gauges, and often. I had something on my wishlist for many months and monitored the price so I could save for it. But when it was marked “on sale”, it was actually increased by R2000. Safe to say I decided to just go elsewhere. (Edit: “Elsewhere” was Amazon 😅)
I bought a R4500 wooden cot from takealot, mind you I'm in Swaziland. I collected from the collection point, when I unboxed it- it didn't have the entire base and legs to stand on. I searched and searched for a way to return the item and there was none as I had to return the item in its original packaging undamaged.
Happened to us also...we bought an outdoor set...x2 chairs and a table....only 1 chair arrived....the delivery guy said the other 2 pieces would arrive in a separate delivery....they never did....and the whole order was marked as delivered....try sending back 1 chair....had the same problems as you...but I just did not back down and phoned and emailed etc etc constantly....luckily I had the delivery guy's cell number as well to help prove things. Eventually they took back the 1 chair and we were able to reorder another set.
We ordered a tap - couldn’t even fit is because it was bent, scratched and pieces missing. It also came loose in a takealot box. Got another tap that was bent again, but at least we could get it installed.
Exact same thing happened to Amazon. Theres a trend towards people biying from specialty physical stores in the US too. Support your local retailers folks.
How can they still deny it? Happened to me 3 times with them. When I left in the review that they delivered fake/cheap goods and not the same brand they refused to publish the review. Their customer service department said it can't be published because I didn't receive what was advertised and it's unfair to the supplier. So people aren't protected from not knowing they're buying fake/knock-off/wrong goods.

I am the marketing head for a South African company, where we manufacture directly in S.A. Some of the items we sell however are from America, and we have SOLE warehousing rights. Meaning we're the only people receiving these products directly from the company in the US. I took images of every product and made sure they and the descriptions which I wrote myself were all unique and truly thorough to give the buyer the most information possible. And about a few months after we started selling, others started selling as well - the exact same product, with OUR images and wording, at seemingly a better price. We didn't lower our prices, as we're unable due to Takealot's price gouging, and let the quality speak for itself. Those other sellers have stopped selling now.
My wife ordered 2 Smag coffee cups. As soon as they were delivered, you could see it's fake. The branding was not even the same on similar products, and we couldn't find the cups on smag local catalog. We returned the items the same day!!
I went through this with Valpre water. I bought the cheaper option but the quality was telling, some of the bottles were not sealed properly. The water didn’t taste the same because I only use this brand. I decided never to buy anything for consumption for my safety.
And Superbalist's clothes are targeted to a specific audience....predominantly tall and thin (similar to the H&M models). Then wonder why we go elsewhere (SHEIN, TEMU) because they cater for all body types.

I purchased on take a lot often if I had any issues I simply returned it. I personally would not buy medical products or electronic items online. If you see that a product is far less than the market price you should question it.
This is the correct attitude! I see many here blaming a seller because they clicked the 20 buttons required to checkout on a R100 product that should be R1000 I don't see anyone complaining about the R50 raybans from the robot! Buy cheap get cheap! You want cologne go to Edgar's not superbalist! As a business person myself the problem is not cheap products it's cheap people!

I bought a Amazon fire stick and it was a fake knock off when it arrived. I lost my mind with them and sent it back in pieces. They refunded me straight away knowing they messed up.

I ordered Rennet and a cheese making book from take a lot. They delivered the rennet but not the cheese making book. Two weeks later I received a book but all it was was photocopied pages with spelling errors. Very dissapointed, will not order from Take a Lot again. Lesson learnt.
I bought a pair of ray ban sunglasses for my wife it was slightly too wide for her face so we took it to sunglass hut to resize, upon inspecting the glasses the gentlemen told us the glasses were fake and asked where we bought it. Upon raising this with Takealot and asking them how its is possible for a fake product to be sold on their platform. I got no response to this question but simply got a response saying I can return the product for a refund. I asked the question again but no response to it.

It happened to me twice already. In both cases, wrong products were delivered. I asked for a correct product to be delivered, they said they are out of stock. Sadly the same product was still not removed for purchase online. I wonder how many other people are being inconvenienced😟
I was part of a different Take-Alot counterfeit altercation where i was shipped lower quality shoes in the correct advertised packaging. The short of it is that i ended up having to keep the shoes, and no refund was issued for loss in pricing difference between the advertised shoes i ordered and the cheaper pair. They refused to accept my package when i tried to return it a second time due to the dispute. I now take my business elsewhere
I was also upset with them once, when I bought hair products that WERE NOT what was advertised. I was so angry. They were very rude & unhelpful when I wanted to return the items! Even worse, when I tried to give them a bad review on their website they blocked me😮😮😮
Online shopping is super well-developed in 2024. The obvious thing Takealot needs to do is to commit to revising the "buy box"! Instead, all their responses shown in the video are "fine print" excuses denying any accountability. You can't win support by insulting people's intelligence this way.
Unfortunately insurance companies also insist on takealot vouchers when you need to replace something ..and they are not trustworthy with electronics anymore
I once bought a Reed diffuser and got a totally different product, I was so disappointed and the thought of going to through the return process was just tiring, ended up keeping the product even though I was dissatisfied. 😢

I always asked myself why one product would have different prices. Are the prices set by the sellers or Takealot? No wonder my 2 years old Puma sneakers look like they are from small street.
Ordered a high chair for my baby, received it however, was CHEAP INFERIOR chair. Definitely wasn't comfortable seating my baby in there, sent back. Had to purchase a "name brand" instead. Noticed that takealot selling strange knockoff products to customers.

I ordered Rennet and a cheese making book from take a lot. They delivered the rennet but not the cheese making book. Two weeks later I received a book but all it was was photocopied pages with spelling errors. Very dissapointed, will not order from Take a Lot again. Lesson learnt.

I bought a pair of ray ban sunglasses for my wife it was slightly too wide for her face so we took it to sunglass hut to resize, upon inspecting the glasses the gentlemen told us the glasses were fake and asked where we bought it. Upon raising this with Takealot and asking them how its is possible for a fake product to be sold on their platform. I got no response to this question but simply got a response saying I can return the product for a refund. I asked the question again but no response to it.
I love changing my rooms colors..so this time it was bottle green and gold..I found it it was a quilt with golden butterflies a 5 piece or rather it only was the second time around..I waited so long just to receive something I never even thought of..bullet black and slight pink with feathers..the stitching was horrible and no green or gold in sight rather I'll faded Feathers and hearts..we ran down the catalogue to find it was also like quater of the price I've already paid..big bonus the continental sleeves was closer to standard than anything else..so no thanks takelot wont see me again their excuse..it was they didn't have in stock what I paid for..so they send me a knock off well done!!

It happened to me twice already. In both cases, wrong products were delivered. I asked for a correct product to be delivered, they said they are out of stock. Sadly the same product was still not removed for purchase online. I wonder how many other people are being inconvenienced😟

After having to return 3 different orders in a row because of receiving something different to what I ordered, I haven't used them in a few years.
This is really disappointing for me as a professional working in the deep rural areas. Since I have to drive 3 hours to get to a mall🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️😩
Mara lets be realistic, if its cheap its fake, how gullible are you to believe that you can get quality for free....think people!

I was part of a different Take-Alot counterfeit altercation where i was shipped lower quality shoes in the correct advertised packaging. The short of it is that i ended up having to keep the shoes, and no refund was issued for loss in pricing difference between the advertised shoes i ordered and the cheaper pair. They refused to accept my package when i tried to return it a second time due to the dispute. I now take my business elsewhere
Finally the matter is exposed
Takealot cannot blame the sellers because they created the buy box system
I can’t wait for them to not have the monopoly on online sales. They take us all for granted

Manufacturing needs to increase in South Africa
I was also upset with them once, when I bought hair products that WERE NOT what was advertised. I was so angry. They were very rude & unhelpful when I wanted to return the items! Even worse, when I tried to give them a bad review on their website they blocked me😮😮😮
This is just a drop in an ocean... there are a lot of cases like these ones just not reported.
We have received used products sold as new. Nightmare. You give up in the end.
It also doesnt help takealot or the consumers when takealot censors the reviews. So you cant even warn other consumers if the product is fake or not.
Online shopping is super well-developed in 2024. The obvious thing Takealot needs to do is to commit to revising the "buy box"!
Instead, all their responses shown in the video are "fine print" excuses denying any accountability. You can't win support by insulting people's intelligence this way.

I stoped purchasing from them cause almost every product i ordered there was never up to standard
I once bought a Reed diffuser and got a totally different product, I was so disappointed and the thought of going to through the return process was just tiring, ended up keeping the product even though I was dissatisfied. 😢

Even brands like the ordinary. I would rather buy beauty products from the suppliers website directly. Can't trust takealot vendors with certain goods
@@kashiefasalie6557 Yes! I was also reluctant to continue ordering The Ordinary from them. Nowadays I buy them from Woolworths and can rest assured it's not perhaps a parallel import situation. Definitely not on!
I always asked myself why one product would have different prices. Are the prices set by the sellers or Takealot? No wonder my 2 years old Puma sneakers look like they are from small street.

The same thing happened to me when I bought a 13x4 lace wig. Had to send it back
Ordered a high chair for my baby, received it however, was CHEAP INFERIOR chair. Definitely wasn't comfortable seating my baby in there, sent back. Had to purchase a "name brand" instead. Noticed that takealot selling strange knockoff products to customers.
Disgusting how Takealot knowingly allow the sales of cheap counterfeit goods, especially due to the fact they receive a commission from it.
People became used to "convenience"! And will normally choose the cheapest option available. If in doubt, do some searching first. Great video, thanks to all involved.
