Despite this being very very difficult to watch, this is a reminder of the failing justice and welfare system in our country. Thanks to the efforts of Carte Blanche and former state employees who are willing to assist daily on these difficult cases to help friends and families find some form of closure. There are so many children in need of love and care, however their voices are made silent by the injustice of a failing system.
We as communities need to stand up, step in and help in any way we can to stop abuse and domestic violence.

Still to this day nothing has been done. 😢 The social worker came to school and interviewed the child and she denied any type of abuse and that was end of story. Sad thing is that, that child do not even know she is being abused she thinks it is normal. Something needs to be done!

They just don't get back to ypu. Not in the jurisdiction of where the abuse was committed. 4 months later and I haven't even gotten a court order for being a place of safety. I've now given up. I tried to report a case of child abuse when a girl ran into my house, vomiting from fear of her stepfather wanting to beat her up. No response from the police. The next morning, the police arrived 8 men strong with patrol vehicles on a case of child kidnapping. Unchain the Child returned the child to the mother, and everyone is still awaiting a court date to appoint a DSD social worker. She has since arrived with yet more bruises and markings at my house, but Unchain keeps on telling me that I should mind my own business. One child was already removed and placed in a place of safety after serious abuse. I think the entire situation is ridiculous, and someone should look into the idiotic cowboy style child protective services of Unchain the Child.

Just another case demonstrating the consequences of state employees that are not qualified and/or able to do the job that they are paid to do. The police were not procrastenating, that implies they were going to do something eventually. If the guy had an outstanding warrant why did they not use that to act when it was initially reported. An able-bodied, critically thinking officer would have been able to take action when a member of the public reports a crime commited against a CHILD!

Could this be considered a violation of human rights? Shouldn't child services and law enforcement be held responsible for their actions? It seems hypocritical for a country to pursue justice at the International Court of Justice for crimes against humanity, yet fail to address similar issues within its own borders. Instead, there appears to be a lack of accountability, with officials receiving substantial salaries while taxpayers bear the burden. This situation is deeply concerning and warrants immediate attention.

I just reported possible child abuse to the cops after a kid was shouting, screaming begging her mother to let her in the house. The mother locked her child outside out the enclosed patio as punishment. This went on for over 30min. This is abuse in my eyes. It's cold outside and locking your child outside as punishment having her beg you to open the door. That's trauma right there. Cops didn't even bother showing up at the house to check up on the child. What do i do?!

Whomever turned these pleas of help away should be held accountable. As a mother it is her DUTY to protect her children to the death. This is so far removed from everything that is right. Nobody should be allowed to be breeding if they can’t tell right from wrong. This is horrifying across the spectrum on so many levels. Poor babies. 😢

The world loves "blended families." It is the modern thing. But the reality is that blended family means step parents. And step parents abuse - because it is someone else's child that is in the way. And if the second biological parent is absent there is nobody to protect the child. My mother died when I was 14. My father remarried 6 months later. I became effectively homeless. At least I wasn't a helpless toddler. But the betrayal of the biological parent is the deepest, most long-lasting pain, leaving very deep scars.

Fellow SAns, approach the Dept of Social Development offices when you witness any kind of child abuse. Take the name of any person who will assist you there. If you are not satisfied, you can report them to their superiors. However, it rarely gets to that point because social workers there will help you.
