    To those who do not know how to read the description here it reads: Cleaning coins dug up from the beach using a toilet bowl cleaner. These are modern coins with face value only and no value if dirty. These are Philippine 5- piso coins.

      Benj de la Cruz well the title does say how to clean coins in less then a min. With that said anyone who was paying attention. As soon As u held them up You can tell your coins are not from coin roll hunting or cherry picking. And clearly were dug up or pulled out from under a floor matt. That's pretty slick. If you aren't worried about being done in 1 min. Do you half to shake them still . To make it work. You can still find good error coins valuable coins in the beach or dug up so I'd be a little worried about extra unnecessary damage trying to hurry because I found some pretty rare finds with my detector. But if you're just after face value and not worried about it try to make an extra Buck or two for nothing that's a hell of an idea works good

    Yes, this did work, but not only did it clean the everyday coins that I was going to put in the coin counting machine, it kind of discolored the silver coins slightly. It did not have too much of an effect on the copper pennies, but it did clean them well. I would definitely not use this method on coins that I thought were valuable. Thanks for the video

      Some of the newer coin's are valuable. Don't go by the book, but what coin's have sold for. I was just saying some people don't know any better/not their fault. It will destroy any future value of the coin's because of the acid in the cleaner. Pretty isn't always better.

    A lot of hate for this video. This video is saying for a common coin to use for shopping or buying a cheeseburger. Not for your gold coins or coins going up for auction. It is for crap coins from metal detecting to get them through coinstar or for purchase. If this helps getting crap coins traded at the bank for dollars then this is a good idea. Don't be COIN SNOBS or jerks about this. Get a life.

    Thank you so much for this tip. Now I can clean all my dirty coins that have been sitting in my petty cash box. I work in a bank's frontline counter, I always receive a lot of dirty coins from customers because dirty coins mean unacceptable cash to them. So the bank has to take them. I don't get the fuss about the scratches, people care about cash notes rather coins.

      No, I wasn't on there for cleaning. I was actually viewing a video on error coins. When I stumbled across this video I decided to comment on it because, like many other coin collectors, I know better than to clean my coins. My only suggestion for cleaning coins is, if you feel the need to do so, take them to a professional to have them cleaned.
      With that said, I myself do not trust anyone to clean my coins.

    • @Mr.BenjAmazingBoracay
      @Mr.BenjAmazingBoracay  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Je Woody not all coins over the world are collectibles like those in my video. It is very difficult in some country to use dirty coins especially my finds from the beach and sea when I am metal detecting. This cleaning method I did to help my co detectorists around the world to clean modern coins that bank do not accept if dirty. And of course we are not ignorant with our coins. We check each coin if there are collectibles before cleaning

    I totally get that some coins are so grimy and nasty that you don't even want to hold them in your hands, so unless they are particularly rare and valuable somehow, a light surface washing which does not chemically interact with the coin patina is okay. However, this method looks like a great way to put bag mark type damage all over the coins. It can't be good for them to rub against each other that hard for that long. Oh yes, and tossing the freshly cleaned coins into a dirty container afterward, that's another brilliant idea. Sheesh.

    • @Mr.BenjAmazingBoracay

I don’t know if anyone collects those particular coins but remember that modern coins do become old … and scarce … and then maybe collectable. The toilet clean is just acid. Tomato catsup also does the same thing just not so aggressively. I use that to clean old carburetors.

So I need to clean them to spend rather than throwing back to the sea. These coins are worn and worthless incase there is a collectible coin. Are you willing to buy a worn dirty collectible coin? Why bother with these dirty coins if you can get new same coins from the bank of in circulation. Hello Vishal, it happens if you soak your coins in a chemical for a long time. As you can see in this video it is less than a minute. Another thing is you should not mix different metals when cleaning. You can soak you coins now in wd40 lubricant and soak it for few days and your coin must be okay even not perfect. If your coin is not valuable and you just want to see it shiny and clean you can brush it with soft brass brush. I did that to restore my coin if it turns pink

    Well it definitely cleaned those nasty things but I would never use that on anything valuable

    Newbie here regarding coins. I thought cleaning coins takes the value way down to nothing???? What do we do when there is a lot of dirt and other stuff on them and we cant see the date etc.? Is soapy water or just water ok with a tooth brush? TY Okie PEACE...

      okie musgogee those coins are modern Philippines 5-piso and not accepted if dirty so I need to clean before spending or banking. Regarding collectible I check my coins and set aside the collectible coins. With silver coins I use electrolysis to clean and for other coins I put inside a lemon overnight and wash with water and soft brush to check the date. For coins that are difficult to read the date I use a paper and pencil to trace the date but if badly worn I just weigh the coin and check the weight of suspected coin to evaluate

      Nice, I just discovered lately that the zonrox color safe is good for cleaning these coins also and do not turn pink even soaked in an hour while cleaning using a rock tumbler

      It amazes me how people who collect coins are so against cleaning coins that they cannot realize it doesn’t hurt anything to clean a coin that is only worth face value. Even coins that are worth a little more than face value are ok to clean if you want them clean.
