    I was just searching a stack of dollars for web and fancy notes. Have gone thru many completely forgetting about these notes, but last few searches have checked for them. No luck yet, but eventually... That example note was pretty darn nice! I found a few star notes and fancy notes, but have about 100 to go. Wish me luck! Thanks Silverpicker!

    New subscriber! You got a big thumbs up from me! Awesome video! I am a Webb note historian as I fell in love with the whole Webb note experiment and this by far was the best video I’ve seen on you tube to date regarding this not so talked about topic. You forgot to mention the natick test paper fiasco of 76 (series 77) where Webb print style machinery was used as an efficiency experiment utilizing paper from Natick Labs instead of the regular paper previously used on all US currency. The machines supposedly had an error detection mechanism that failed and a boat load of notes were printed with the serial numbers and seals upside. By the time human eyes set eyes on the errors there were bricks already sent into circulation. (A brick of dollar notes contains 4000 units).
    Short story long, notes from series 77 with or without error can be identified similarly to the Webb notes of 88A, 93 and 95. Easiest way to identify is looking at the back of the note, back plate number located on top right next to the word “trust” instead of the bottom right corner. So if you find any 77 series notes definitely keep an eye out for the natick test paper notes cuz they can be worth a pretty penny.

    Informative video thanks
    I am/was an avid web note collector and have a very large amount of web notes
    They were only printed in one dollar notes
    There was only one series of a star note
    It was an F*
    Depending on the front plate and back plate number combinations and the note condition determines the values
    Some are very valuable
    There are some errors as well
    I might disagree with a couple of your statements but overall your presentation is well done and informative
    Thanks

      @Everett White
      Yes only $1 notes
      Series 1988A, 1993 and 1995
      There is one star note of the webs
      A 1988A F*
      The different block numbers and the front and back plate combination numbers can determine the values
      Some bring more rare some being pretty common
      They are getting pretty hard to find
      Now but still out there.

    Years ago my father had a big construction business and every week he had to do payroll. He got a brand new from the bank a $100 dollar bill. The thing was, how off the print was on the bill it goes almost to the edge of one side and on the other side probably over a 1/4 of a inch theres nothing printed on the other side. I had a neighbor he moved away but he took it to a show and somebody offered to buy it for $1500 hundred dollars. Because they said it's almost impossible for a bad print to go pass the computer screen.

      I would have happily traded a "regular bill" for that. I once worked at a place and had to ring somebody out because the lady that normally did it wasn't there on the later shift that day, and they paid using a $50 bill from 1950. Needless to say, I was SO glad I happened to have a 50 of my own on me to trade it out for, even though it was in fairly circulated condition. This was back in '96 when I was barely still yet a teenager, but I still have that bill.

And I wound up needing money one time and was about to spend them but something told me not to. So a year later I learned about webnotes and checked them. He served for one month but the '63B series was printed for eight months as it took time for a new series to be engraved and reach the presses. As such, Barr notes are not all that rare because they were collected in large quantity between 1968 - 1970 as everyone at the time jumped on the band wagon expecting them to be rare.
      Incidentally, series 1969 - 1969D are way more rare because they were printed for a short time but lacked the notoriety of the preceding Barr notes and weren't saved in quantity as a result.

    I have a $20 bill from the early 80’s that was part of a recall. The ink was bad and flakes off when folded. My bill is uncirculated perfect. I tested the bills on either side of it in the serial number range, and the ink flaked off both. The bank teller told me that they were being recalled, so I asked to keep one. Been in a plastic holder since then.

      Quick question...If you received the bill (and others apparently in numbers sequence) from your Bank teller and there was a recall on them, why would the teller give them to you, to begin with? Only to take them back from you?
      Also, In my opinion...this would not be considered "uncirculated" condition. Maybe I just didn't understand your comment🙃🤔

      I USED to have a 1977 $20 dollar bill, a 1969 $20, and a literally like-new perfect condition 1950 $20! (I gave them to my father for safekeeping, he being a bit of an amateur numismatist and all, but since his passing four years ago, I have not been able to locate any of those three! :( I really don't know what became of them....but, are they even worth anything? And, if so, how much?)

    • @Russell-rc6qq
      @Russell-rc6qq ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thisbandreallystix Yes they have collector value but it is hard to give an assessment without knowing the districts and serial numbers (being star notes would add value). If the 1950 $20 note is as like-new perfect as you describe, let's say it's worth around $30 +/-. But without more details it's hard to give a more accurate estimate.

    • @ogr8bearded175
      @ogr8bearded175 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Those bills were printed with the intaglio method, but they were using a different type ink than usual. It was meant to give the bills a rough texture that counterfeits made by color computer printers wouldn't have. Unfortunately, the ink could literally be scrapped off the bills which gave it the faded look you are describing.
