    though I had some problem with sea water It also th-cam.com/users/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

      If you leave this, doesn’t it just keep consuming the copper?

    Can this method work on all coppers coins that’s a pretty worn but you can see a small silhouette and what did bring out things that we couldn’t see?
    Not that we get a lot of coppers here in Louisiana I guess we’re more prone with the Spanish silver

    Interesting but Couldn't you get lead poisoning by rubbing the lead into your fingers?

      It's pencil lead-which is harmless graphite.

    Is this video about how to clean the coins,or how to make them even more dirty?

  • @Mark-TBH
    @Mark-TBH 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I will try this on some of my wheaties but I am not sure for my older coppers. I'm concerned the graphite would wear away the details on the older ccoppers. Just my viewpoint.

    I've heard ketchup can clean copper coins.

      It will "clean" them but will also be too agressive to older coppers and practically ruin your coin forever

    Pretty neat. I’ve dug my coppers our of clay along the river. They come out like bright copper, but are really wore from the clay.

  • @raynac224

    I swore he was going to use the eraser on the pencil. I mean if you want to clean it those things work suprisingly well. its an abrasive so it wont leave the coin untouched but it works better than alot of the acid combos people will suggest

    I realize this is an older video, but I suspect if you had any truly valuable coins and did this prior to submitting them for grading, they'd come back as cleaned/details, which would utterly destroy whatever value they had. If it's just worth $2 even in great condition, no harm no foul, but had you done this to a coin with a hypothetical value of $20,000, you would have turned it into a $2 coin. At least I'm speculating, I'd love to be proven wrong. I don't really collect copper, except in sealed mint sets (regular and proof), though I'm not even buying most of those anymore and haven't for some time.
    Have you, the OP, or anyone for that matter, sent coins "cleaned" in this manner in for grading and authentication?

    You just ruined what ever value you ever had rubbing your coins worst of all using an eraser on metal its a abrasive no matter how light you scrub its ruined.

      Is it really best to leave the coin as it was?

    • @SamuraiWormGaming
      @SamuraiWormGaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@j_gray8642 depends on the coin, the coin he has isn't rare at all so its no loss really. If he was using a rare coin however then its best to not clean it as it holds its value, cleaning it rids it of some value

      The monarchs on Canadian coins faced in different directions. Queen Victoria faced left. King Edward VII faced right. King George V and King George VI faced left while Queen Elizabeth II faced right (they skipped Edward VIII who would have faced right). King Charles will face left. They alternate!
