GREAT VIDEO!!!! I fished at the canal for the first time yesterday and had a great time using the same exact plug. It took a little while to get used to the coordination but everything described in the video came to be!!!!!!
Thanks for the demo bud! Now, what rod and reel were you using and how long is the rod? I like the way that rod whips and look! I think that rod is what I'm looking for.
Any rod would do that one he using very expensive two peace he using lamiglass 11 foor really don’t need something that big but All bout preference that rod I looked up on lamiglass site is 499$ lol he using one of them vsx or something there like 600$ plus they have no bail i use 9ft rod an 10 ft 9ft works good for cotton Cordell pencil poppers I have a few of em
Hey man could you tell me the action on that rod the tip looks really whippy? I can work pencils with my surf rod I have now but it’s not easy. That rod your using works that pencil effortlessly.
Always a great idea to cast from the service road especially when it’s low tide and there is plenty of room on the shoreline riprap Now I see why so many new people to the canal do this !!!! Not a great way to show courtesy for the beginners
this should be more of what not to do at the canal..lol way to pick up the fish by the lure while its stuck in the head ..not surprised he didn't lip it seeing hes casting from the road..fisherman mag might wanna send someone with experience to do there vids...this one is embarrassing
Is it not better to pull the fish up by/behind the mouth with your hand?Talk about a way more likely to destroy a fish - lifting it up with with it's full weight/often jerking dangling from hooks.(this one didn't jerk but they often jerk heavily)It's good way to rip a mouth apart,an eye out, cause excessive bleeding, etc.
it wasnt a foul hook, happens alot actually, fish only bit the tail end of the lure, and get the mid hung up on its face or head as it runs, but yeah he played that schoolie up alil bit to much, the way he way he was power pulln it in was saying its a 30lber but mehh 12-15 maybe lmfao
Don't think you guys understand what aLLsTaro617o is saying, casting over people there is a bad thing to do, there's fishing etiquette that you need to know when you're fishing at the canal.
Not fully sure, But i reckon you could. At least back in Ireland where I used to fish them. The pike would break Top water a lot to catch things. You name it, Frogs, small birds, small fish etc. There used to be a local lake near me. Every year for years two swans would hatch a family there. 4-8 baby swans. By end of summer there was never one left. One big old pike in the lake used take them. I tried to get him many times but never could. Just caught smaller pike there. Always thought it was sad that the same swans always came back to this lake !! Why did they not go to another lake ? ?
Horrible handling schools. He was actually holding up the fish by the popper. Seriously man have a little more respect for the fish. Lucky the hooks didn’t just tear out of his skin.
Well, not necessarily a large bass, just A bass. Please dont sell big, trophy, etc. Who DOESN'T want to catch a large fish. Consistent action is more important.
take this or leave it from a guy who fishes every day: this guy doesn't fish every day. casting from the goddamn mass pike, thrusting his hips like elvis when he cranks on a schoolie, scrambling down rocks with a fish hooked, hauling a fish out of the water like he's the crocodile hunter with a snake. it's a 2015 video and attitudes towards handling fish are changing, but this is still not a good look.
Foul hooked and id estimate that fish to be 28/29 inches , keeper is 28 so thats a small keeper i like to say, 34+ is a real keeper imo but just so where clear i wouldnt call that a schoolie , inless hes 5"4 130 lbs wich i doubt
Bro my neck hurt watching you winched that striper up.

perfect example of how to work bait and that guy is a pro.
makes it look easy..
Hi Toby! What type of test lines are you using and what name and model is your reel and what name and model and how long is your rod? Thanks!
That's an 11-foot Lamiglas GSB 132-1m, Van Staal VS250 and 30-pound Fireline. It's pretty much my do-everything set-up in the surf.
What brand and model is the rod thanks.
+Luis Ll That is a Lamiglas GSB 132 1M.
What gloves is he using?
What kind of rod is that? Custom?
How heavy is that pencil popper
Hey man could you tell me the action on that rod the tip looks really whippy? I can work pencils with my surf rod I have now but it’s not easy. That rod your using works that pencil effortlessly.
its a moderate action rod thats why.
What was the length, and model of rod? Thanks!
What is the name and model are the gloves?

Guy had to walk 20 feet to get on the rocks to bring it in.

I cringe every time I see it
What surf rod is that? Thanks.
It is a custom Lamiglas GSB 132 1M.
What reel is he using
Smh
Van Staal.. The real question is what rod is he using?
VS 250 - rod is a Lamiglas GSB 1321 M 11ft

You can catch mackrel at the cape cod canal?
you could but unless your planning to chunk them there's really no point, live lining any kind of bait in the canal is illegal
Gothivore I mean catching mackrel for eating.
Off the jetty at the east end of the canal is where's you'd get mackerel. That's the Cape Cod Bay end, not the Buzzard's Bay end.
Tolpacourt: Thanks I wanted to know where too. What is a good lure there at the Jetty to catch the Machs with ?
was foul hooked so gave him resistance!
Great vid, what specific brand of lure was that?
Gary Routenberg guppy lures
Casting over people, must be the norm there now. Why not just fish down by the water line?
Daniel C Fishing Pretty sure an expensive camera can zoom in. And the jerking motion with the zoom in on it? 😳😂
You stand up there so when you cast you won't hit anything, you can stand by the shoreline but your lure always gets tons of weeds on it
Don't think you guys understand what aLLsTaro617o is saying, casting over people there is a bad thing to do, there's fishing etiquette that you need to know when you're fishing at the canal.
Whats the name and model of the rod?
Kelly R i assume Lamiglas
We call that walk the dog in Florida
Can u catch a Pike with pencil popper like that?
Not fully sure, But i reckon you could. At least back in Ireland where I used to fish them. The pike would break Top water a lot to catch things. Peek4pony that's actually a pretty cool story
Largemouth Bass hit the Pencil poppers too.
thx
Man the only thing about using pencil popper is it tires you out after a while
Horrible handling schools. He was actually holding up the fish by the popper. Seriously man have a little more respect for the fish. Lucky the hooks didn’t just tear out of his skin.
we call it walk the dog
He’s is reeling too fast

Hate when people fish from the road !!!!!
I've never seen anyone doing that.
Hes in the canal, duh!

Nicholas Passarelli anything in the canal under 25 pounds is a schoolie lmao
