I watched your video before I bought my bike, just killing time. Now that I need to sync my bike I had to wade through the other junk videos trying to find yours because you explained it all so much better than they did. Thank you so much.
Factory Service manual you say? 2023 XSR manual is Pricey! Should be coming down soon. Glad to know they're out and Yamaha isn't restraining access like some manufacturers are these days. Thanks.
@Gil Zr absolutely. Just so you know. I did end up having to adjust the baseline throttle. It wouldn't synchronize otherwise. It was minimal, but it did the trick. Runs better now then from the factory. Now I just have to get the Recall ecu updated from Yamaha 🤦♀️
Thanks for the video Sophia. I was debating on doing the 600 mile service on mine or taking it to the dealership. You said a magic word that I worry about; "scratches". I don't know about the paint on your bike, but mine seems to be quite soft. I think I am going to follow your lead and do it myself; I am pretty sure that the sync tool is cheaper than what the dealer was going to charge me in labor. I just subscribed, so keep the videos coming. BTW, I follow "Old Guy Ridin" too; I am only a couple of months younger than he is.
@Doug Buchheit I'm glad it helped! Yes, I felt bad for my friends who SP got scratched. A noticeable 2 or 3" scratch on the frame of all places. & trust me, they aren't making it right very easily either. This is the video Old Guy Ridin' suggested th-cam.com/video/RVi6ECn91Ng/w-d-xo.html with that video & the service manual I felt pretty confident it was doable job. Plus I took my time. I enjoyed doing it.
I am a little dealer shy anyway. It took 6 months to get my bike and it came in with a badly bent brake pedal. It took 5 weeks to get that fixed. Two of the engine covers were damaged too and Yamaha can't even give an estimated.ated delivery date for them!
@@dougbuchheit1454 oh boy, I bent my clutch pedal when I dropped the bike. We used two Cresent wrenches to put back in place. Getting any stock parts is impossible right now. I feel your pain. 🤦♀️
Hi Sophia.. Can you just clarify the far right was the master ecu throttle bodie.. Black dot. Mine 2022 plate.. Usually there marked with white paint and even if anyone tried there locked tight all the way in..some mt are on the left side Going to try tomorrow.. 👍
@chipwood67 unfortunately, I don't recall. At one point I thought it was the one on the throttle side because I couldn't find any white paint. Then when I took out a flash light for a different time, I synchronized it, and i found the paint. They painted the screw itself. I think it was the middle one. I will go through my old videos. I believe I mentioned it somewhere. I'll let you know
Hi Sophia.. I did my sync today..didn't go well.. But looking at your video and response.. Which has been the go to video on y tube for Gen 3 sync is the best..also About your white dot on ecu master screw.. Yes I believe it was is the middle screw on your mt.. I can see it clearly now watching it back.. But on my Gen 3 2022 plate it's the left screw that's white.. But my problem started was when I tried to turn the MIDDLE screw it was seized... I could only turn the right sign screw.. Left side I thought is? Master ecu screw obviously I did not touchas on my bike it's painted white .. But now I'm thinking the wrong screw of the 3 2022 plate has been marked wrong or not ..why would Gen 3 all year have different sync master screws? So just tried syncing with right screw only.. Bike still hunting idle sync still in spec range after my sync.. So it has to be my lv race exhaust decated causing backpressure idle issues.. Also this is with o2, eliminated ecu flash baffle in..looks like I need to get it on dyno to fix it..this may help other I'm sure.. Thanks again for your help 👍
@chipwood67 damn. I hope it works out. A good dyno tuner should be able to get you right though. Hope at least. If all else fails. You can put the bread box back on.
Yes bread box is staying off ha ha.. Hi Sophia. I would check yantosp on here.. You both have yamaha mt 09 2021 sp but your master white painted ecu screws are different just odd. Mine is same as yantosp.. But like I say my middle screw is seized..yours is middle screw? .. Also yantosp has had queries on this recently posted., 🤔
@chipwood67 senor Yanto! Yes. I do converse with that fine upstanding citizen known as @Yantosp he keeps teasing me about riding the Tail of the Dragon with him but hasn't followed through with it. Maybe you can tell the man he can trust me! 🤭🤣
Nicely done Sophia. Did you notice the master cylinder looked like it had a splash of white paint on it. Didn't see you adjust any screws. I've got the same manometer. Rotating the gas tank worked well didn't it? You can actually disconnect the ECU (according to the 2 videos I watched to learn). Again, great job! And thanks for the shout out. Ride safe.
@Old Guy Ridin' I couldn't find any white paint anywhere. I was doing it again by myself so I didn't catch myself adjusting the screws. I was too focused on not messing up my bike 🤭 then filming it. The adjustments really don't have that much movement to them. I for some reason thought it be more significant but makes sense it's not. It was fun though.
Hi Sophia. I noticed that starting from 26:40 you have a very distinct metallic clacking noise which I have on some cold starts as well… did you notice that? It only happened twice with me, and its been haunting my peace of mind ever since! Not sure if in your case it is as loud as we can hear on the video or if it was the audio capture device that augmented this sound on its own but definitely it is similar to the one I got. If you don’t mind me asking, what oil grade and brand are you using? My theory is that this could be from the valve command tensioner not having oil pressure due to cold oil taking its sweet time to warm up, but not sure… Another noise that I am getting is when I am on third gear at around 4 thousand rpm and I accelerate to about 50% of TPS I get a “whine” sound very similar to a supercharger. Because this bike obviously doesn’t have one, the only other thing that it could be is straight cut gear teeth… does your bike make that sound also? Anyway, props on the technical video!
@Igor Brandao hey there, since my 1st oil change at 600 miles, I've been using Motul 7100 10/40. I do all my own maintenance. Just because I enjoy it as much as riding it. Though when it reaches 8k I might take it to a Yamaha dealer I trust. Maybe. So clicking. Yes, I definitely noticed it. Wasn't too concerned though. That other noise you mentioned, can't say I've noticed. I also previously owned an Inline 3 cylinder motorcycle in my 1050cc Triumph Speed Triple. It sounded very similar to this bike. I usually don't get too concerned unless the noises I hear follow performance issues. At this time, they don't. 🍻
Hi Best video on mt Gen 3 👍... Did you turn - touch the master screw. Carb the one marked.. Or just touch - turn the other 2 to bring them up to the master one? I here you shouldn't touch the master screw as that's the ecu one.. But I also hear you can slightly.. Just checking I have hunting idle after decat full exhaust system.. And it's flashed.. I was told to do the throttle body sync to solve this issue.. Idle back pressure after my set up is why I need to do this.. What's your set up.. Stock or not.. Thanks Good job...
@chipwood67 Hey there! Thanks man. Yes, my bike was flashed by 2wheeldynoworks. Have a M4 exhaust on it. I followed those same instructions. Don't touch the master & adjust off the master. Should be good to go! 👍
Hi.. Thanks for info just to clarify then .. Did you have same as me idle back pressure issue fluctuating .. And the throttle sync fixed hunting idle..mines not that bad more annoying.. Bike runs fine out of idle.. I did come across others saying ecu master screw gauge level sit higher than the other 2 even after sync.. Seems normal for the master to be slightly off. You did best you could have got it.. So it's probably spot on. Thanks again 😁
@chipwood67 no. I never had an issue with idle. I battled the TPS issue, though. I ended up replacing my whole throttle body about a year ago. That was annoying. I have no patience for dealers, so I just bought & replaced it myself. Resolved it, but I heard Yamaha finally figured it out. Allegedly 🤷♀️
Thanks.. Yeah yamaha warranty not worth paper it's written on.. Are you running decat M4 with baffle in or out or none decat or cat in .. And or O2 delete or O2 still working with flash.. And or above mods.. 🤔 Thanks again
@chipwood67 This is what I'm running. No baffle. Love the sound. After getting used to it. O2 is still plugged in, but I'm not sure if it's disabled by Flash. m4exhaust.com/yamaha/yamaha-fz-09/yamaha-mt-09-2021/2021-yamaha-mt-09-full-system/ I plan on getting a complete Dyno tune this year. Redo everything that's been done by the mail in flash.
@a.rozihazrul8298 hello 👋 yes. In my experience, the cp3 has a louder tick sound. It's perfectly normal for this engine. But I'm not an expert. I'm just speaking for my bike & others I've been around.

Brother, if you set the air screw of the throttle, then the rpm will also change.
