Once you get used to them and stretch your fingers, they aren't bad at all. You can angle your wrist to take some of the pressure off the stretch as well.
That chord he holds on the verse is a fucking workout. And his voice is so soothing and raspy with no cracking on a raw performance. I'd say he killed it on this one.
The trick is giving your hand a break and do the E5 on the 2 & 4 , sometimes you can mute the B string and rock the open E string. When you aren't in pain anymore throw your pinky back in there for the 5 and it's golden lol
Thank you! So many people who arent "fans" of Musicians usually are not mature enough or nice enough to at least appreciate the talent from any said musicians and leave rotten comment....refreshing to see yours.
As an appreciator of Dave Matthews, but not so much the rest of his band, I highly recommend the acoustic concert with him and Tim Reynolds called Live at Radio City. The blueray is absolutely the top experience, but the album is also on Spotify :)
I love Dave Matthews Band. I've seen them in concert 29 times. Maybe someday I'll get 30 but I'm in a wheelchair now and don't know how people would react when I got up to dance and fell over. Haha someday. Still dance in my head but I don't think I'll ever catch his bus now when they're done.
I was just thinking that. Everyone whose performed there sounds better than their average modern performance of their stuff. Just watched Def Leppard, Sammy Hagar, ZZ Top, Peter Frampton, they all sounded incredible on Howard Stern.
How can this man be so sexy still? He still has the same passion about this song after playing it a zillion million times like he's playing it the first time. Heart Dave......
I've been to 95 Dave Matthews Band shows and this raw, stripped down version is as beautiful as any. Great to hear two epic impacts of my life together for a few hours. Thanks for this Howard.
I was a bouncer in Charlottesville at Trax. When Dave was getting the band together. I remember him being so different... There were multiple versions of this song.
I just heard this performance in the car with friends and we were all blown away! This was incredible. Truly one of the best sounding love performances I’ve heard. We’ve never even thought of seeing him in concert but are now planning to
What a gem 💎. I was a sophomore in college when I first heard crash and knew I had to learn how to play guitar. His first 4 albums opened a new world for me.
For people commenting about the guitar playing, he's basically anchoring the ring and pinky down while changing the middle and pointer finger for the bass. It's not incredibly difficult, but your hand will start to cramp after awhile. Then there's also the singing that makes for a new challenge. Overall it's a great song and I always loved it. I learned the pattern many years back when I first got an acoustic.
This brings back so many memories of many Dave concerts my friends and I went to and just listening to their albums over and over in my room. After all these years, Dave still makes me the happiest girl alive. There will never be anyone quite like him! :)
When this song released on MTV I was so mad because they played it ALL THE TIME! And I wanted to see the other cool videos lol but this version of the song I absolutely LOVE, I can't stop listening to it. The talent of Dave is just amazing.
years and years and years.. listening to this beautiful ballad, its an out of body experience, floating around seeing gorgeus faces, ones that got away...
Dave is underrated for his playing! Those are some very distinctly shaped chords! Way more creative and complex than the average player, he's got his his own stamp and I like it! Although his voice does remind me of tiny Tim a little but here! 🤣🤣
i remember to this day how i came to know his music and also tim reynolds at the same time... i walked into a record store and decided to buy an album just based on it's cover... i always liked blue, so i bought live at luther college... boy, what a ride after that revelation.
howard stern forcing artists to perform songs they don't really want to do at 6am has given us so many amazing musical moments.
It might be the best performance of this song that exists.
His studio has the best acoustics
😂 "do a little" "it's only because you ask so nice"
I love yall
They go on knowing they're going to sing.
My hand cramped watching that.
W W word these chords are crazy to play :D
Once you get used to them and stretch your fingers, they aren't bad at all. You can angle your wrist to take some of the pressure off the stretch as well.
😂😂😂
Seriously right!
lol yeah. I had to adjust my whole thumb/wrist position permanently after the cramps this song gave me. It's not "hard", it's just-- awkward.
He left out my favorite verse in the whole song
"Hike up you skirt a little more, and show the world to me"
Can't agree more! The only fault I found with the entire performance. Love
In a boy's dream...ti tiriri ti tiriri ti tiriri... in a boy's dream
And on of all places on Howard Stern...lol
He has teenage girls now!! ...of course he won't sing lyrics like that on a radio programme.
I SAID THE SAME THING TO MYSELF LOL
Dave's a treasure. I'll never understand how anyone can be a hater.
Because they use wind chimes. This is hardly even singing.
DMb's logo speaks volumes...
@@MarmaladeSally Everyone's singing voice is different. That's something I love about music.
@@MarmaladeSally can you do better?
jealousy
That chord he holds on the verse is a fucking workout. And his voice is so soothing and raspy with no cracking on a raw performance. I'd say he killed it on this one.
Yah it hurts so much idk how he holds it
Hahaha I start getting cramps halfway into the song
The trick is giving your hand a break and do the E5 on the 2 & 4 , sometimes you can mute the B string and rock the open E string. When you aren't in pain anymore throw your pinky back in there for the 5 and it's golden lol
for real lol
So fun to play this song
Stern’s sound engineer kills it yet again. 🤘🏼
respect
Perfection
Never been a big DMB fan but nothing but props here. This was so good it sounded recorded. Gotta respect the man's talent.

rubicon1983 Same. We were driving with friends on a road trip and Sirius replayed this and we were all blown away! This was incredible
rubicon1983 listen to his stuff not played on a radio! That’s the songs that’ll suck you in and you won’t ever listen to much else lol
rubicon1983 agreed
“Sweet like candy to my soul”.... takes me back to the Spring Semester of 97. Start of a very good year.
This and many sweet lines in this song, for sure.
We need a John Mayer / Dave Matthews Band / Jack Johnson tour.
Jay Are yes yes yes
Mayer and Dave harmony with Mayer's slick improvs would be so tight
Agreed
Please no, we'll die watching this. Haha
This would be a pot heads dream tour hahaha
22 years later and it’s still as beautiful as the first time I listened to it.
Indeed
@@nHanXciiEI concur.
This song takes me back to the 90’s…when I was still a kid enjoying life…
I love Dave Matthews Band. I've seen them in concert 29 times. Maybe someday I'll get 30 but I'm in a wheelchair now and don't know how people would react when I got up to dance and fell over. Haha someday. Still dance in my head but I don't think I'll ever catch his bus now when they're done.
Heather Patterson, my 30th Dave concert will be in December in Philly.
Heather Patterson for some reason this crushed my soul. i pray that one day you come upOUT of that wheelchair.
Omg 29 times? I wait so much to see them live for the first time! I think I'm going to US just to see them live.
Damn 29 concerts wow I wouldn't do that I would just see them once every tour
Heather Patterson no reason to miss a show! you got thousands of your best DMB friends there to share in the joy ❤️ ☮️
Where the hell are artist like this anymore ....?
Ryan Bingham
Dbo Baggins underneath the social mediated universe playing in kitchens and occasional dive bars.
in the clubs youre not going to.
They're out there just not getting recognized anymore becasue they're not the "in" rappers
Sad
They aren't smoking it up anymore.
In Howard’s studio is some of the best moments in music history
I was just thinking that. Everyone whose performed there sounds better than their average modern performance of their stuff. Just watched Def Leppard, Sammy Hagar, ZZ Top, Peter Frampton, they all sounded incredible on Howard Stern.
Wow! He is an actual music artist. Writes, plays, and sings.
Lots of people do that.
Not like this.
Welcome to 25 years ago.
Lots of people also don't do that
Yes. So does Shaun Morgan.
Dave has one of the greatest speaking and singing voices I've ever heard.
Roll tide
AND he can act
@@sadem1045 My leg's not a piano
This is one of those songs where time seems to stand still
How can this man be so sexy still? He still has the same passion about this song after playing it a zillion million times like he's playing it the first time. Heart Dave......
My theory is being happy makes you look sexy... this guy always seems like he's having the best day of his life.
tamara ❤️❤️❤️❤️
tamara to play with passion is the only way to play
Ahhh the 90s... what can you say? A simpler time in my life for sure. I was 16 when this album dropped.
Same. What a time
I feel ya brother
We have Rock, Country, Classical, Hip Hop, Reggae, and then there's Dave Matthews. My genre of music.
I have to wonder how many kids have been added to the planet because of this song.
Whoa. Heavy AND hilarious. RATED.
J Hopper I ejaculated multiple times in my pants just listening to this. Those were just missed opportunities.
4 here if anyone's counting.
Hahahaha, makes sense 😂😂😂
Even though I am not a Dave Mathew’s band fan. This song has to be up there w one of the best songs ever written. I’m talking about EVERRRRR
He sounds fantastic and his timing is perfect.
Dave lives in the pocket. One of the best to ever do it.
Damn, he so hit that out of the park!
I must say this is by far the most amazing version of “ Crash “ that I’ve ever seen. So simple and awe inspiring ❤
Crash and # 41, the songs of my life!
I've been to 95 Dave Matthews Band shows and this raw, stripped down version is as beautiful as any. Great to hear two epic impacts of my life together for a few hours. Thanks for this Howard.
The microphone sound, the amp, the speaker, the mixer, and Dave voice.
Lot of respect for Dave for writing this song. This man loves his Queen.
Lol, this song is actually about stalking
So many great memories from the 90’s........best decade for music
💯
One of the best unplugged tunes performed.
solo & nearly acapella. That is talent! Go Dave go!
Gee even solo Dave sounds EPIC~Crash into you-single❤❤😊👏🏻👏🏻👍👍
I remember the first time I heard this song on the radio. I made everyone in my family stop talking. I was 9.
Krista Roman bitchen story
I'm sure they chose to stop talking because they became speechless after listening to those naughty lyrics lol
Good music does that
Krista Roman, Cool story indeed, and you told it in just the right amount of words.
Did ya...smh
He's still got it. Just lovely.
I was a bouncer in Charlottesville at Trax. When Dave was getting the band together. I remember him being so different... There were multiple versions of this song.
Song so dirty yet sung so lovely
whats dirty about it?
A flush of vivid memories drown my thoughts of my youth, when I hear this song. if you ever read this Dave, I say thank you to you.
THIS man has no end to his WELL of talent! Dmb
So beautiful. Dave is one of a kind
HOLY F--ING GENIUS!
As as a teacher, singer, and musician, this brings me to happy 😹 tears!
I have so many memories linked to this song. Wow.
Nola Chick where to even begin... so many memories
One of his best performances of this, ever!.
DMB ... a real artist that sings, plays and writes. Truly amazing after decades of music. One of the greatest artists of all time.
I just heard this performance in the car with friends and we were all blown away! This was incredible. Truly one of the best sounding love performances I’ve heard. We’ve never even thought of seeing him in concert but are now planning to
One of my absolute favorite songs played so beautifully. This is pure talent.
His voice is a beautiful instrument here.
Really shows how brilliant his voice his....just him and that guitar, perfection
soo good
His talent is so real and so raw. I love Dave so much.
absolutely incredible talent in Dave, and howard you make the artists feel so damn comfortable. Hats off to both of you.
How rare to have a voice so unique, and yet so superb!
People hate on Daves voice but I find it incredible
Great vibe Dave finesses the shit out of his music
This is probably one of the best songs/bands I heard live in the 90s!
Good god... what a voice

Hugh Jass I can play it decently but as soon as I try to sing it, everything gets messed up lol

What a monumental waste of time. Think of what you missed out on by listening to this no talent, fraudulent hack!
Wow! It’s like hearing this sound for the first time. Beautiful
Dave, you're insane ! Your music means so much to me !
Lord, that hand stretch! My left hand started to cramp just watching him play that
Congrats on the Hall of Fame nomination. Well deserved. This is my favorite DMB song. Thank you.
I'm so thankful for a true artist.
Love Dave, his voice, and especially this song.
Love Dave, his music is so magical! He's a good human being as well!
What a beautiful song.
Dave Matthews is a lend. I live just fourty minutes outside of where they started and created their greatness.
DUDE - IS AMAZING!
Probably my favourite song ever made.
its weird that songs defined me just a few years ago mean so uch more now, those quiet times that belong to nobody else but you and the voice!!!
I am sirking knowing that you understand...more than words
I he has played this a million times but man he makes this look effortless
Just magical

Howards studio is perfect for musician's to play, great acoustics the sound is incredible. Dave sounds great he doesn't need a band
Acoustic..Awesome! That falsetto is amazing in the early morning. So impressed, I wish I could do that. Thank you Dave and Howard.!
My all time favorite song since it came out. Still in love with it 🥰

Dave's voice is so unique and pleasant.. Been a fan since the start... One of the best singer song writers ever.
Best version I ever heard...so far.
Still got it
SICK
Finally playing "Crash into me" again! The song that introduced me to Dmb's world. It's been a while...
A lot of singers sound similar ... DM has that one of a kind unique voice. Awesome!

Alexandre Martini My first album as well. And 41 pretty much changed my life forever. Started playing guitar after that. Haven’t stopped since.
I Love anything Dave does! One of the Best shows I've ever been to... Love u forever Dave ✌💞💃
