I was playing Armored Core: Master of Arena before this came out. When I first saw the graphical improvements, my jaw dropped. I was 12 at the time. Such great memories!
I only had the demo of the first Armored Core for Playstation and even though content was understandingly limited being an demo, I enjoyed playing it over and over again. But when one day me and my parents were walking at the isles of a huge store that had an gaming section, I asked my parents if I could pick one game for PS2. They agreed, and I saw Armored Core 2 sitting there. You bet your butt I picked it up immediately and was happy with my choice :)
This was my first game on PS2 at 7 years old. Needless to say I was lost and I only figured out how to get to splitscreen multiplayer but I thought it was so cool
My most played hours was in AC2 too. But Armored Core 1 and 2 AA and 3 and 4 and For answer were good too. I just never warmed up with 5. I was from release of 5 one of the best ranked players, but the game lacked long time motivation for me.
mid teens - rented this at a blockbuster - got my friend to then buy it - we sneaked our first bottle of vodka and sipped it as we played this game. Next morning after the vodka, couldn't understand how we were rank 1 in arena and had beat the game storey after struggling with that guy with the machine gun arms early on in arena a few hours earlier.
As much as I love AC3-LR. We never find out what happens in this universe. AC-AC2:AA was a great saga either way. They really need to make another Armored core with themes and clichés from the oldies. So many good moments in AC3, cutscenes in Nexus. They can do it again.
To me the menu music sounds like something out of Tekken. As a Gran Turismo player - the menu sound effects are actually different 😅 The only similar thing is the pitch of the sound effect of the menu choosing.
Just found out there is a new Armored Core coming out and was trying to remember the last time I played an Armored Core game. Imagine my surprise when I realized this was the last AC game I played. It’s hard for me to believe that much time has passed and all the things I’ve gone through since. I’m going to get AC 6 just to relive a small part of my childhood.
Just heads up, It plays a hell of a lot better if you remap the aiming controls within PCSX2 to the right analog stick and boost to L1 or R1. Subscribed.
I tried this, and at first it definitely seems like an upgrade from the traditional controls - but there seems to be a clunkiness to how movement transfers from 4 directions to analog. Movement and camera controls have a stutter to them, and strafing interrupts movement forward and backward.
I remember being impressed by this game's graphics. It's a big difference compared to the first game. But I really didn't like that AC is very slow in this game. Much slower than in AC1. By sound looping you mentioned in the description you probably mean this for example 2:28:15. It's a bug in the game, not with an emulation. It is present when playing on PS2.
also if you allowed yourself to go into negative money a few times you get a cut scene each time and can do things the npc's can like use shoulder mounted weapons whilst in motion.

Wasn't there a secret boss that was a regular mech except it could transform into a jet? I remember being mind blown by how unique the fight was and taking serious time to build a new ac just to beat it.
You're probably thinking of the final post-game mission of 2: Another Age. I show the mission in the video I have for that game, but I cheese it due to how laughably unbalanced the encounter is, which may or may not be disappointing. The AI is very abusable.

The PS3/4 games in this franchise are way too sophisticated. I hated the sensor mode addition. We need more games like these. I'll be playing the PS2 AC games til I'm grey.
If you get weird lines around text sprites you could set the filtering mode to nearest or forced without any sprites. Additionally in the Adv. Options of GSdx set the Texture Offsets for X/Y to 500 and see if that fixed the UV alignment. This is a general issue with upscaling
Unfortunately, there's no universal fix for this game. You can offset textures by 550 to mostly fix the radar, weapon and boost indicators but it introduces some junk around the AP indicator and actually worsens some text. If you set the y to 700, it fixes some text completely, such as the top left if you press select to open the map but has a negative effect on most other text and introduces more junk around the AP and weapon indicators. Nearest filtering is best for the text and I'm pretty sure it's what I was using in the video. I didn't offset the textures, though.
@@LookBackGaming there's quite a few games with similar issues, Front Mission 4+5 is where I experienced them. 500 was the magic number and one of the sprite rounding settings. Dunno if 16:9 introduces stretching when wide-screen is a memory hack and not natively supported the internal coordinates are garbled if they were made relative to the resolution and expecting 4:3. Running native nearest filtered in 2x or 3x with Lottes CRT from the shader suite could be an alternative (if one likes CRT effects)
Can't believe they never put the series on PSN for PS2 classics, rumors are From Software maybe rebooting the franchise here's hoping great games back in the day I loved them all You needed strategy as well to make sure you preserved your ammo because numerous time I couldn't finish the mission because I ran out, as I chose the wrong weapon. But I also remember having a mech that would have a stupid missile lock on and fire like 40 missiles or something and only 4 would hit lol
that's kinda of the challenge with AC you have to manage ammo because most ac weapons aren't meant for extended battles it seems personally though i bring at least one missile or rocket pod and use EO chest parts so you have extra guns that replenish ammo overtime when not in use
This makes Halo CE look like Pong for 2000. I doubt that humans build any of this stuff with how often everything gets obliterated with superweapons in the AC universe.
Do you have plans to do acv and verdict day? It’s hard to find extended gameplay. I heard people don’t really like acv but I’ve heard verdict day is hit or miss for people and what I have seen looks like it could be good. I never got to play these when I was younger so I’m looking at getting 4 and for answer on my ps3 and a wasn’t sure if I should look at picking up acv and verdict day eventually? In any case I love this channel I just discovered it when researching the ac series and am now seeing you have so many classics on here! Keep up the good work for the sake of game preservation if nothing else!
I won't be doing ACV or Verdict Day. They both have very barebones singleplayer as they were meant to be online multiplayer games. The singleplayer is basically a short tutorial for online play. You can't play V online anymore. The servers are gone. For Verdict day, you apparently need to have a Japanese PSN account and play during their prime time and even then the population is real tiny. I don't really consider them to be Armored Core games, their gameplay is just so different compared to every single prior entry. They have much more in common with another FromSoft mech game called Chromehounds on the 360, which was also multiplayer centric with a tutorial singleplayer campaign.
I would like to do Nexus but there are some technical issues present when trying to play it in hardware rendering mode. Busted lighting is the major one, the game is significantly darker in hardware mode than it should be and it had a very noticeable negative effect on the visuals for the few starting missions I tested. I don't know how bad it could potentially get later on in the game. Software rendering doesn't have this issue but there would a significant difference in the overall visual quality compared to the videos I produced for the 7 other Armored Core games that I've covered. I have to upscale my videos to 2560x1440 to mitigate damage done by TH-cam's compression. It has to do with the codecs TH-cam uses and its worth it. The internal resolution for Nexus in software mode is 512x448 and there's no way to increase that through the emulator without switching to hardware mode. If you've ever messed around with an image editor, you might know that scaling an image has a negative effect on the quality of it. Nexus in software mode looks downright terrible when upscaled and that's why I didn't do Nexus after doing Silent Line and why I won't be doing it in the near future. As for arena, I didn't care for it. It wasn't fun for me.

Forgive me fellow Ravens. I'm returning to this game after nearly 20 years. I still play Armored core a lot but I stopped playing the ones that didn't utilize the sticks. I modified an old pelican wireless controller where I replaced the d pad with a joystick and I'm going back through the old ones. Now to the point. There are a few occasions where you have some kind of limit breaker, for example when getting the hidden part in the ac test. How is this being accomplished?

Man I can't remember if it was this AC or another one but when I was little I would go into the custom paint mode, stick on one of those premade pinup girl logos, and trace over their clothes pixel by pixel with skin colors so they looked nude. Fun times I loved these games when I was a kid.

For Answer is the way to go. I've beaten 4 times. Top Ranked Collared and Orca. I'm still having a blast with it.

Can you remap the controls in the disk version of these games or can you only do it on emulator?
Has to be an emulator if you want to use the analog sticks for anything substantial.

Man I can't remember if it was this AC or another one but when I was little I would go into the custom paint mode, stick on one of those premade pinup girl logos, and trace over their clothes pixel by pixel with skin colors so they looked nude. Fun times I loved these games when I was a kid.

Good chance you didn't notice as a kid because it was normal for dubs, especially video game dubs, to be bad during the late 90's and early 2000's. It just wasn't taken that seriously.
