Amazing bedrock exposure discovered on whirlwind tour of 4 claims.

  • What a great bedrock discovery! Large cobbles sitting on soft bedrock. The Perfect place to look for large gold on Tranquille river. This discovery was part of a 2 day scouting trip to 10 different claims in the Kamloops, Lytton, Hope and Princton areas of British Columbia. As it is still Spring run off, the creeks and rivers are mostly too high for good gold panning, so I took the opportunity to go do some scouting for this summer. What I found was AMAZING and WOW I am looking forward to this summer gold panning and Prospecting for gold.
Also I am creating a paydirt bag, just like shown on Klesh Guitars channel, pay dirt reviews, but this time using paydirt found on this video.
This video is produced by Dan Hurd, Prospector, Miner, Teacher and TH-camr, as part of his TH-cam channel based on educational videos about gold mining, gold panning, prospecting, rock hounding, and mineral collecting.

    Hi Dan...
I’ve been watching your channel from back when you
we’re teaching Prospecting to High School kids...!
I cannot begin to tell you how much I have learned
    from watching you.
I really appreciated when showed all of us how to make
so much of our own equipment when no one else would...!
I’m located in Northern Indiana in the US and I would love to
join you someday to learn more and to find my first Canadian
    gold...!
You touched on a subject that I would like to expand upon due
    to it being important.
To my fellow Prospectors, please use extreme caution when being
around any Metal culverts with water passing through them...!
I had a family that went to my church and their youngest son was a
    good friend of mine.
The father and oldest son were Firefighters.
One Spring day we had a huge downpour hit our small town and Rick,
my friends oldest brother was on duty at the Fire-station when a call
came in that some kids were playing around by a Culvert down at the
Park and one had gotten sucked into the rushing water that was pouring
    through it...!
Of course Rick took off in his car to get there ASAP instead of waiting for
any backup help, that was the type of guy he was...
Upon arrival, he saw the other kids and told them to get home and find their
parents and stay away from the Park for now.
All anyone knows of what happened next was from the kids retelling how they
had seen him holding onto the rim of the Culvert while reaching in to try and find
    the lost Boy...
When the other Firefighters got there, they searched for Rick and the Boy on the other
side of the Culvert but there was no sign of either one...
It was all over the local news and by 6 pm that night everyone knew.
As a town we had to sit and wait for the water to drain off enough to allow for an effective
search which finally revealed our worst fears, the Boy had gotten wedged under a branch
that was stuck inside and Rick being the Big man that he was, had been found stuck inside too.
They guessed that he must have lost his grip and got sucked inside as the Boy had...
That day we lost one of our children and one of our Hero’s....!
It devastated my friend and his family’s lives.
    They were never the same...
My friends Mom and Dad ended up getting divorced over it because they just couldn’t
    deal with it....
So please, as the tears stream down my cheeks from retelling this story, don’t ever take
    the chance...!
Instead, come home alive and well to your loving family.
I’m sorry for this being so long Dan.
Something just touched me and I felt compelled to share this story...

Dear Dan. I am a real fan of you and Pauli. I am a recent fan but loyal. I have watched probably close to 100 videos in the past year. I would like to kindly add my vote that 4 commercials is one too many. Your early videos had 3 commercials, your later videos 4. Probably not, but do you think too many commercials will affect viewership. Sincerely yours, Richard

Hey Dan - it is only 10 horizontal m +1 vertical meter on the FRASER - every other river in BC it is THREE from the water's edge as long as you are on a "gravel bar"- huge difference/distinction and huge amount of extra ground. (Look up the definition of gravel bar). This difference makes or breaks countless claims. If it was 10 meters then river claims would lose a lot of their appeal and value, instead they can be really good and convenient. I just got my work reports audited by the inspectors and I was forced to issue a few minor corrections but they never said anything about my work distance because that is lawful. I even measured it and we cut the workings at exactly 3 meters. No fish egg or spider was harmed. They went through everything with a fine tooth comb too and I had to answer a lot of questions they had to make sure I was following all 500 pages of regulations. I have also had the mine inspectors comically descend from a helicopter to land dramatically nearby and warn/ticket people and it was all for being within 3 meters of the waters edge or having oversized (bigger than 1.5 inch) pumps. They obviously didn't force us back 200 meters to where there is no gold and some purists would define the "high water mark of the riparian" or whatever. P.S. Those previous guys were dicks for not reclaiming their workings.

    • @Danhurd
      @Danhurd  5 ปีที่แล้ว

These holes were within the riparian zone and that's not lawful

    • @capslockbandit
      @capslockbandit 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Danhurd Right, and they are surrounded with vegetation but you could have something that looks very similar and have it be legal as a hand pan test (minus the plants, litter, a few meters, and lack of reclamation). You are definitely allowed to hand mine within the riparian zone as you call it because that is often the entire area of prospective ground and includes a massive belt around any watercourse. What makes up this zone and its end points is also a bit subjective and varies area to area. The place where the helicopter landed is a flat area in the river - this about 200 meters of flood plain by the water. Technically nearly all of this is "riparian" / waterside habitat about half gravel bars, half scrubby island vegetation. Did they force us 210 meters away to meet the technical but extreme definition of the word riparian zone? No, because that's crazy. The inspectors I talk to just want us to use common sense and not destroy everything. There is no rule "no mining or prospecting activities within a riparian zone" otherwise nearly all of your videos and 95% of everything I have seen 100s of prospectors do is illegal... even directly in front of mining inspectors. It is not. The distinction is zone vs setback. The rip zone is massive, the rip setback is just 10 meters. We are allowed to prospect right up to the waters edge within a riparian with a shovel and pan (like you did), 3 meters (current water level) for high bankers on bars, and ~10 meters (beyond the high water level) for high banking standard watercourses. If you were at 8 meters instead of 10 I doubt anyone would care... or know if you clean up properly. The mine inspectors just don't want you to damage large vegetation and have water flow back into the river as the two major things. You are, however, allowed to turn the entire river brown panning, but not a trickle from your sluice (as giant natural landslides dump into the river nearby). :P I am getting super pumped to get back to B.C. and find more gold - Thanks, Dan!

For your paydirt you should put together something like Dylan (Miller Prospecting ) got from ebay where the "25 nuggets" were just mixed in with washed sand, all +20 to less than 40 mesh and he literally just sifted them out completely in one pass through the classifier. The whole thing was kind of hilarious as it was full of low quality but "rare Chalcopyrite". Clearly, you don't seem to be remotely the type of person who would actually do that however.
I'm giving serious thought to importing an Arbor classifier however; no one in Australia makes that kind of quality that I'm aware of.
As always, thanks for what you share with us.
