I greedily wish this was a 5 hr interview with Eli. You two are my favorite.
The unsub podcast has quickly become my go to way to get through dark times and shitty thoughts... The positivity of it all, coupled with the dark humor helps ALOT. I never served but I do work corrections and the shit I see on a daily basis gets to me, and the unsub crew helps tremendously with that... Eli and the crew are epic motivators without even trying...

Honestly Eli seems like one of the most fantastic friends a man could have backing his corner, the whole unsub crew inspires me to continue being the best father and husband I can possibly be day in day out and I hope my son meets people like them in life
Amen. Amongst all the serious talk, Unsub has inspired me to not take life as seriously as I have the last three years since the whole economy shutting down thing happened. For about a year now, I’ve laughed more and gone back to being the fun parents for my kids. I directly credit unsub for putting me back down that path

A friend of mine, my 12th grade econ teacher, had the same mindset; he was in the Army during the Korean war, and while I don't remember the exact details, ended up behind enemy lines with no survival gear. He always said that being cold and scared that night gave him something to look back on, and know that every day he was alive was going to be better than that. RIP Tom, you will always be remembered.

I can't thank Eli enough for the positive impact he's had on my life. I've had health issues for a long time, so long that I'd accepted them as "normal" and went most days just thinking that's life. Obviously that took its toll on my mental health, and in late 2022, a close family went into the hospital and came home with hospice, and I've been helping take care of them ever since. I don't have many good days, and I don't say that to be dramatic. The best days I have are for the most part "tolerable", and Eli and the Unsub podcast and crew are a major reason why I've had as many "tolerable" days as I've had.
I'm a writer, and I got my start writing fanfiction (DMenace on FFN and AO3), specifically RWBY, Pokémon, and Jessica Cruz (Green Lantern). Many make fun of me for it, but I wouldn't be the writer I am today if not pursuing my love for these three franchises, and being able to interact with an audience INVESTED in your story and get feedback as a writer is invaluable and also rare elsewhere. Writing this past year and a half has been incredibly difficult, and it's been difficult to even enjoy my favorite hobbies (gaming, reading, etc.) With that said, I've learned over the years to keep my nose to the grindstone and focus more on inspiration than motivation, and just keep at it.
I even started making TH-cam videos as a way of stepping out of my comfort zone, and although I've been taking baby steps, I'm slowly getting better in front of the mic, learning Audacity and ShotCut, and having fun doing it. As has become tradition, I've had a LOT of setbacks when it comes to making videos, but you live and learn and get stronger for it. I doubt TH-cam will ever be anything more than a fun side project for me, but you never know, and having more skills in your tool belt never hurt anybody.
Thank you again, Eli, Leon, and the rest of the UnSub crew. You've helped keep me sane this past year, and have greatly motivated me to pursue my dreams and not give up when times are tough. Things will get better, but until then, I'll continue getting tougher. God bless, and have a wonderful day.

@@MooseN7 Thank you kindly, friend. I really appreciate it, and much love and support back at you. I kinda view fanfiction as a "proof of concept" where I can try out characters, plotlines, and that sort of thing in front of an audience of hundreds if not thousands of readers.
I've also gotten many, MANY messages over the years from readers who've said they grew up poor and couldn't afford too many books, much less Christian reading material, and that they more or less grew up on my stories (been doing this for over nine years). Much like how the UnSub guys have encouraged me, it feels so good to know that I made at least one person's day better. I like to make people happy and feel loved, and that's one of the biggest reasons why I write.

I can relate to you in many ways, Having lost my husband less than 2 years ago having an extremely disabled child who has lived when drs said he wouldn't my own health issues being a vet that can't get help from the VA. Yes life can be a succubus but victomhood is not an option for me and from what you've said being a victim is not for you either! Keep doing what you are doing and remember that you're not alone, never ever alone! 100%

Love the support and community that the Unsub boys have built for veterans. It's such an important,often overlooked aspect of looking after former service members and imo will save lives. Respect and admiration for all of you.
Eli is someone i learned about because of the unsubscribe podcast, and quickly became my favorite as he was the most relatable out of the group, dude dealt with so much and still was able to make it in life. It gave me inspiration to continue on and work towards the light at the end of the tunnel. Which is why i consistently tune in because my tism is hearing the dude talk
I want to meet him one day so i can personally thank him for helping me stay on the correct path, even when i feel like cutting it short.
Eli is one of the best humans for all the love he has for his product and community.
Between your videos and the unsub podcast, I've laughed my way through many dark and terrifying situations in my life. Both channels have become my go to for clearing my headspace and resetting myself and getting back on track

As someone with Cerebral Palsy, I can relate. I fall down at least once a day, and have every day for the last 32 years, but you can either get up and keep going, or you might as well lay there and die. It's pretty simple.

As a father of a now teenage son who is both autistic and non verbal it’s honestly a deep deep breath of fresh air to hear Eli talk not only about his son but also be able to have a silver lining aspect and share a joke or two about what we will all call our “situation” from a place of absolute and undying love and share a laugh about something that like it or not is always and forever in the back of our minds on an everyday basis. Eli really has become the Deckard Cain of the group. Just that wise (old) man who has seen plenty of shit and lived to keep telling the tale. He's happy to pass on his knowledge and wisdom to those who will listen. But he's also happy to just be himself and keep living his life for friends and family. I'll never be an Eli but I will keep on trying to make some kind of impact to people in my life.

As someone who started watching the Unsub podcast approx a year ago or a little more, and seeing where its dipped and rose again - its wild. I've never seen your podcast Leon, but I really look forward to watching the rest of this. Honestly a perfect guest for me to start watching with - Eli isn't perfect, and I'd reckon he'd say the same, but he is absolutely a light to a lot of people that have faced those harder sides of life and I'm always happy to hear him talk to folks. The whole current cast of Unsub are solid guys, and people like Rich, Crispy, and Jack coming on just really makes it feel like a little family of friends that you get to hang out with every week. Its a really nice vibe, and Eli and the guys are such genuine folks who offer great advice.
I'm here for this podcast episode, and thank you Leon for bringing on Eli as the guest so we get to see a bit different side of him!

Dude, I was just telling a story today about almost crashing into a drunk driver on the highway, and watching a crane on the road behind me almost tip over. The part I've never told, I was listening to the cannibal story Eli mentioned. I was so infatuated with it, and suddenly went "Oh that car just went from 72 mph to zero in the middle of the road. Shit."
I started watching UnSub at episode 13 (I think). IMMEDIATLY connected with the fellas and had to watch the previous 12 (mainly Eli because we were in the military at the same time).

Love Eli. Because of an episode of unsub a little while back he and the guest were talking about raising children with autism and the traits that show up early in childhood... soon as I heard Eli mention "lining up all their toys" it was like a complete shock to my memories. I was diagnosed with ADHD as a toddler but as an adult I'm starting to wonder if some of my problems are closer to the spectrum than just ADHD.
I have abso-fucking-lutely no idea what to tell my psychiatrist, but because of the frequent mental health discussions on unsub I've finally decided to start trying to get my head screwed on straight
I had no idea Eli was involved with black rifle. As someone who repacks the damaged packages at a fedex that ships their coffee i started buying it instead of foldgers (smells so damn good and my dude was a Marine we like to support businesses like that) but had no idea one of my favorite youtubers was a part of it. As someone who isnt Military or First Responder, I really appreicate the Unsub boys and especially Eli as its a very "boys" community that, yeah dark humor, but we all kinda know what we're dealing with even if we dont say it out loud.
