Both Chris and Will were wrong. They may have had a comedian at the show but it doesn't mean it's a comedy show per say where you sign up to get verbally blasted in front of millions unless they come up to said celebrity and let them know they have this bit and it's about them and is it OK. That's the proper way to do it on such a prestigious night. It's an awards show.

The dude has serious acting chops but was always denied a chance for an award because the people who run the show have incredibly superficial and biased attitudes towards the art that is acting.
It's like preening judges in many sports who have zero idea about the sport itself, or what makes a good competitor, and score based on random shit (like how a female gymnast looks or incredibly specific technical form that doesn't really demonstrate the essence of gymnastics, which is nigh superhuman strength, flexibility, and coordination).

I like Jim Carey but he hasn’t really been truly exposing anything. He’s basically a shill.. it may seem like he’s “exposing” Hollywood but in all actuality he is well aware of his position. Even though he’s been able to amass a substantial net worth it’s still crumbs in comparison to the people who allowed him to generate and keep it. They use comedians, musicians , actors , mixed media etc in conjunction with a technique known as predictive programming(among many other techniques) to tell certain truths to the masses but it’s never the complete truth or enough to actually thwart their nefarious antics !!
The same entities who paid Jim Carey for this interview are more than likely somehow connected to the same companies who funded the Oscar’s . These same Hollywood elites who helped Chris Rock and Will Smith accumulate their net worths. Try to go against them and end up like R.Kelly and or P.Diddy

Resorting to violence against that is not acceptable though mate. If Will had done nothing but just said "I don't like that" it'd be fair enough. But violence isn't the solution unless someone is directly threatening you. If you are going around smacking people because what they say, how are you better than them?
Also making a joke in this context is wildly, WILDLY different to being a fascist lol..
Every situation is subjective, but violence is always a last resort, this is exactly the same reasoning some people use for attacks on anyone they disagree with. It's hypocrisy at best, and utterly disgusting behaviour at worst..

Does anyone else feel this was fake? I've seen stage slaps so many times and actors are good at making things look real, that's kind of their job. But if you really look at both Will and Chris, they're both smiling and laughing and Chris doesn't change face at all. It's a natural human reflex to make a shocked or sad or mad face when you get slapped. It's not something that can be controlled. Neither one had that. The slap looks more fake than things I've seen on AEW and WWE wrestling. So let's just pretend that this was fake/staged. That still says that Hollywood isn't the cool guys anymore because they think this kind of stuff is entertainment, plus they're condoning it. We need to create a world where we build each other up, not tear each other down. if Hollywood could start setting THAT as the example then that would have a big influence on everyone
