Thank you so much for putting out these videos! When I originally want into my planning for moving into my van, I had my mind set on getting a Jackery 1000 and 300. It's only after watching and learning from you that I realized these Bluetti's were better bang for the buck and I just ordered an EB150 and this AC50S. For anyone who sees this in time, as of 2/9, the EB150 is $999 on Amazon with a $200 coupon they have and the AC50S has $60 coupon for a total of $369.

I just ordered direct (March 18 2021) using your code ; -$60. = $369.99 delivered. Thanks. I was very close to ordering the Jack 300 at $299 but with tax it was well over $300, so for a few bucks more I got this one with more capability plus this one allows me to use pretty much any solar panel. Perfect. I appreciate all you do.
I really enjoy watching your videos! Thanks for all your good information. I'm late in the buying game for this SoGen, but just purchased a combo deal that includes the 120 watt foldable solar panel for $665. I really looked around for comparable units and there were just none. So I hope I made a good choice. I always look forward to your new videos. Be well!
Just bought one, AC50s with the 50 dollars off and free s/h direct from their site!!! Thank you professor. Do let us know if they come out with another campaign. I had to pay tax bc I think they have an office in Denver. Still a good deal!! Now I own two Bluetti products. AC200(Indiegogo) and the AC50s!
Professor Hobo, I don't listen to my Dr. as much as I do to you, You are the BEST most thorough reviewer on TH-cam!! Incredible. I am waiting for a Bluetti with 500w - 600w LIFE04 battery (approx 600watt == 1200w surge pure-sine just like EB3A!) with all the specs of the Bluetti EB3A only with a larger battery than the EB3A. I have an EB3A and it is the ultimate best Bluetti just needs to clone the EB3A with a larger size LIFE04 battery.(I would buy it in a flash!) This AC50s isn't what I would buy, worse case I would buy a 2nd EB3A and Daisy chain them. The EB3A keeps my full size kitchen refrig running (maybe 4 hours) , and I over-panel it with HQST Three 100watt solar panels in parallel, no problems... Keep up great job!!! You are da Man!!!
Thanks Hobotech, I've been watching and waiting. I missed out on the Jackery Expl 300's before they sold out. Now I'm glad I did! I can't believe I caught this product/deal in time. Another plus was being able to use your sales link! The 3C's are happy campers:) You rock !!!
Just ordered one for my brother and sister-in-law, they have a Go Fast Camper and this will be perfect for their weekend trips. The discount code is still working on the Bluetti site!
I nearly bought this but went with the Jackery E240 so I could still buy a compatible waterproof solar panel with a USB fast charge port at the same time. No regrets my end. Waited 3 years through research and finally coming to a decision, but I have to say this was going to be a very close winner as was the best one for buck I saw. In 🇬🇧 so not so many options available with UK plug.
I managed to get the standard model for $330 by stacking your coupon code with another offer, absolutely incredible little thing for the money. I'm glad to see on this model they seem to have improved the low voltage charging, I never see anywhere near that kind of wattage charging from my cigarette lighter port and that seems to be typical for the AC50 (non-S model). I think that the inverter's overload protection has a hard-set time limit for how long you can overload it, in your original video you got around 2.5 minutes before it shut down while running past 300 watts and I tried running my Dash egg cooker off of it (350 watts) and it shut down at the same time. I unplugged it, reset the inverter, and let it go again and it kept on going for another 2.5 minutes.
Thank you so much for this review. I have a Jackery 300 and was looking at this one as my secondary or primary unit and it seems this will become the primary. Can't wait to road-test it!
I have 100 W one of the Espana facture that I got to use at festivals to make sure that I have plenty of power for credit card transactions and running music so forth it has been flawless this is a good solid company
Professor Hoboteck, thank you for the $80 off with the HOBO50OR. It worked. I plan to run a ICECO fridge/freezer on it. I also picked up the 120w panel $100 off.
I recently got one of these. Sweet little unit. I was going to get one of the smaller Jackerys. But, for just a little bit more, I got this instead. I hate to say it, but the Black Friday deal I got was better than the HoboTech discount. FWIW: The solar charge controller is great. I hooked up my HQST 100 W monocrystalline solar panel to it and got 103 watts (briefly). It settled in around 97W before the clouds moved in.
i bought this and Bluetti 120 watt solar panel during it indiegogo days. It's a great product which provided the power i needed to run my Massimo 50L e-cooler during my 9 day camping trip.
I actually charged it using my 110AC plug in the truck of my GX470 (didn't have a 12volt where I had placed the battery). I only charged it using solar when I was parked. So majority of charging was from the SUV.
They've been back-ordered since at least last month. I ordered one in early October at the early bird pricing, when the "shipping" date was supposed to be mid-October. They subsequently shipped a handful and then announced a new shipping date of Nov. 15th. I'm VERY anxious to get my unit!! But if it lives up to this review, I won't have minded waiting 6 weeks at all!

@@gpw955 with an unregulated DC power the dc voltage will drop as the battery discharges (as it is used). Some things you use will not operate at a lower dc voltage. Regulated power will keep the DC voltage constant, regardless of the state of charge of your power station
Thank you for all the videos! I bought the ac-50s about 6 months ago and love it. I was wondering if anyone has charged this at 120 watts for a long period of time in warm to hot weather. I plan on connecting 2 richsolar 100 watt panels in parallel so I can charge it at it's max rate, even on hazy to cloudy days.
So i was doing research on you tube for a good sogen. Watched a lot of vids on this sogen, not to many vids out there put this thing through the ringer like u do. Thx to u, i woke up today and bought this for my b-day. I was gonna get the bluetti ac70, but something is wrong with that one.
I wish reviews were postponed from being released till a product was in stock. And a notice was put in that said that it was in stock at the release of the review. Just like the Suaoki s200 review where they wanted the item in stock before Hobo released his review (and thus he delayed making his video till it came in stock and gave a very honest review as a result). As for the AC50s, there are lookalike devices on Amazon I could get for cheaper if I really wanted one but I don't. Great video as always though.
I already postponed this review for 3 months waiting for stock which just came in at Amazon. This was at the request of Bluetti. It is in stock at Amazon right now and will be back in stock at Bluetti soon. There were issues at customs with shipments that got turned back so stock is limited. Those "lookalike" products are copies of the old AC50 and don't have regulated 12v.
Love this video!! Would you recommend this for a weekend non electric hookup weekend away in a camper van? We would be using a regular 12v fridge, a 12v tv, smart phones and an iPad just for some reference
I have a question for Professor Tom. On a typical solar setup you have pass-through charging. We charged all the time and use it when you need it. Let's apply this to a solar generator. If you have pass-through charging and you're charging all the time how would you count charge cycles? 80% to 100% one charge cycle that may happen several times a day?
Thanks! Will it charge a 60w macbook pro 16 inch model through the usb ? I see that at 18'30 you talk about those adapters, but I am not sure that the lack of quickcharge is only for the usb a, or also for the usb-c.
I love your station for battery and fridge reviews. Very helpful in planning my van life plans, which i am a total noob at. Sorry if this is a dumb question. If doing minivan life, can you charge the blueetti battery from the 12 volt plug in the cab of the car while the car is running and at the same time can you run the fridge from the bluetti battery? Also is there a difference in efficiency (energy draw) between running the fridge from 12 volt plug in the blueetti vs the regular 3 prong plug in the bluetti? I am looking at getting a new hybrid 2021 sienna. Trying to figure out my power solutions. Also trying to determine if I would need to get the upgrade if 1500 watt inverter plug or can run cords back from the driver's area back to fridge (stored in the rear well). Thanks for all your excellent reviews.
It would be nice if Bluetti filled their PRE-orders from mid September (2 months) FIRST before filling ONE NEW order on Amazon. Sorry about the rant, good review, but I'm kinda pissed off.
This what I notice, use the "promo code" they put you on backorder while your payment gathers interest in their bank. They will wait you out since you are using a discount code, there are those paying full price they will cater first. Finally you are tired of waiting you cancel the order, bye bye discount code, hello interest for them. As long demand is great, they can play their games.
@@jimtalor7971 Ha Ha.Guess what. I ordered mine with a discount code for $349. Pretty crappy, when they claim first come, first serve, which I know ISN'T TRUE based on some discussion at diysolarforum. I did order an AC100 with a discount code and that came within two weeks, but that is a low demand item. At this point, I am on the edge of cancelling. I did pick up an Anker Powerhouse II 400 for about the same price but slightly lower spec. Nice unit with regulated 12V output. *****EDIT **** Another delay till end of November. Hobotech link to Amazon only shows older, non regulated 12V models. Bluetti website shows "end of November" delivery date. Cancelled my pre-order from mid September.
@@ronbotex that's it? you couldn't wait? I've had orders that took 6 months to be fulfilled... you do realize all the shipping stuff is backed up like crazy ?
Hi, thank you so much for your very informative video. I just ordered one of these on the Spring sale for $399 after doing a lot of comparisons and for what my needs and present budget will allow. I mostly wanted this for when I camp in my SUV for my Koolatron fridge, phone, tablet usb fan and maybe an electric blanket, as well as extra power in my Pop Up when boondocking. Would I be able to use 4 - 40 watt 12 V solar panels = 160 watts connected in parallel through a hub to charge this? I believe the max each panel can produce in ideal conditions is 2.4 amp's. I'm very new to this solar charging process as an older woman camping solo. I have 4 of the Coleman foldable panels and a Noma Hub and an Anderson to MC 4 adaptor cable I am getting. I had one of these panels and was able to get three more for a really good price so I thought this would be a doable solution. I will also use this set up for my pop up camper, but of course with a switch out 20 amp controller as the Bluetti has it built in (which I'm thinking is enough combined as Individually they each come with a 7 amp controller) in that scenario with my 12V RV deep cycle battery. I would be grateful to know if there's something I'm overlooking, or if you think this is a workable scenario, or is this to much combined wattage and should I only use two of them together in parallel to charge the Bluetti AC50S?? Thank you kindly for any help. 😊🙌
Hey man I love your videos! I just picked up a bluetti ac50s about a week ago and I used your code. It has already been on a couple trips, primarily being used to power an electrowarmth heating pad for my truck topper bed setup. Anyway, my only complaint is that the 12v charger is about a foot long. Any chance I can use a goal zero or jackery 12v car charger? Or something else? It needs to be a few feet long at least. I plan on connecting 2 richsolar 100 watt panels in parallel so I can charge it at it's max rate, even on hazy to cloudy days.
13:11 max charge rate test.
He says 2 panels of 100 watts each, wired in series, in series, is fine. Most of the time !
This is brilliant...❤ it!!
Question: how would you rate the Bluetti against the Jackery? Which one would you recommend? Is the Bluetti cheaper?
Jackery 500 is a dinosaur. Bluetti is not just cheaper it has far more features and a longer life battery.
Thanks for the review - I have just bought this - Which solar panel would you suggest to use with it ?
Great and very complete review 👍
Thank you so much!
Can I charge the Bluetti while I’m using it? Thanks
Love this video!!
Would you recommend this for a weekend non electric hookup weekend away in a camper van? We would be using a regular 12v fridge, a 12v tv, smart phones and an iPad just for some reference
Do You think this is better than the jackery 590
The Amazon links appear to be linking to the AC50, not AC50S. I can't seem to find the S model on Amazon at all.
Amazon cleaning house with old stuff!
Hoboooooooooooooooooooooo Technooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo may the force be with you
15:20 Does charging with 2 100W/12V Solar Panels in Series increase the charge speed? Or it doesn't really matter because the max input is ~120W?
I thought you could also charge units via Power Delivery?
Thank you! I just bought it 2 weeks ago. The blue box they called it Wqtfun
That's not the same thing.
thanks for detailed review
can I use DC12v car ignitor port for WiFi router? won't it break the router?
Amazing video - Great info!!!! I will be [picking one of these up with a glass panel as noted. Perfect info!!!!
I got the orange one the other day and I love it 🤩
It would be nice if Bluetti filled their PRE-orders from mid September (2 months) FIRST before filling ONE NEW order on Amazon.
Since my InstantPot (3 qt) is 700 w, which solar generator is best? Thank you!
One of the other two Bluetti’s he talked about or the Bluetti AC200.
@@leelfm Thank you!
Yep, look at my reviews for the EB150 and EB240.
@@HOBOTECH Thank you very much!
Thank you for the video.
What is the output of the top wireless charger?
Can you do a test using the Bluetti on an electric skateboard?
Hey man I love your videos! I just picked up a bluetti ac50s about a week ago and I used your code. It has already been on a couple trips, primarily being used to power an electrowarmth heating pad for my truck topper bed setup. Anyway, my only complaint is that the 12v charger is about a foot long. Any chance I can use a goal zero or jackery 12v car charger? Or something else? It needs to be a few feet long at least. Thanks @hobotech :)
In PH it's listed as LiFePo4
