SUPER band. Watched a concert in Copenhagen in the early nineties. Awesome and got autographs of every member! Now kept on a secure place - Lucky me :-)
A talent of Weckls rarely mentioned is his sense for orchestration. His choices of which drum and cymbal he plays related to the written music is at a very very high level. Its not just the rhythm and frasing. Wow!
I was so impressed , all the members of the band were signing autograph i regret not to meet them at that moment...they came in a small town in France it was the only show they gave
Simply the best....we're missing u so much already Chick ...rest easy my brother. Thanks for all the melodies & rhythms...over 90 l/p so blows my mind.
I find it absolutely cathartic starting at 8:01. Don't you love how Chick goes totally anthematic toward the end of a lot of his best Elektric band pieces? It's usually just before his codas--like the one that starts at 9:08 in this piece. I swear the leadup to the coda in this one nearly brings me to tears; it's so beautiful! So musical!
Between federation delegation trips to the neutral zone Frank always makes time to play music with friends. The chief medical officer who plays bass is something else! I’ve never heard weekend warriors sound this amazing in my life!
unfortunately i only started listening to Chick 3 years ago but this was my first impression and i honestly say it blew me away! this group of musicians just make my day everyday. Long live Chick corea, and being a guitarrist of course, Mr Gambale!
I listened to the first few years, I was a kid. I fell in love. I listened listen imagined wolves I worked I was a musician. years have passed. I'm still listening. still the same enthusiasm... thank you masters ...
OMG yes! I love the final part of this composition too, especially on the record. All of the complex rhythms are brought to a satisfying conclusion with Gambale on guitar leading the way. Awesome stuff.
Is Frank Gambale wearing a dress? Patitucci's "George Michael" facial stubble is awesome enough - I don't need more to be in awe of! Love these guys. ;)
Having followed these guys for the last 3 decades (at least Chick), this band is at the top of the list. Listen to this COMPOSITION -- ahh, they're not "improvising" here. Consider the many parts where they ALL play in unison. Most fusion bands would have a hard time playing any part of this. It's unparalleled. Nobody touches Chick!
Dave!!! You are 💯!! I agree with every word on this post! And to the ones that talk negative @#$! You're entitled to your opinion but to borrow from Dave, "the specific parts played by CCEB in unison and that sum fusion bands would be challenged to play this piece, and much less, gel like these 4 monsters..
all the period are killing they express something of different each time but always amazing for me "inside out" is their best challenge the compositions mixe jazz/fusion and neo-classic music
@loginman4 No drumparts except the intro drumpart. But if you are serious about playing Weckl and have the chops to do that, then you also have the chops to LISTEN and figure out what he does.
Funny, I listened to Chickall through the 70's by way of RTF while learning to play. Then I moved to L.A. in the mid-80's and later ended up dating a girl that Eric dated too...it's a small world when you move around a bit! We all get a little too complacent and tend to stagnate when we do. Cheers!
Anyone else thinks it's really wrong to put adverts in the middle and just before the end of this?! If we have to watch adverts to watch what we love that's fine, just put them at the start please!
@loginman4 Well then I would strongly suggest to transcribe it yourself. It sounds mean but really you'll learn much more from it and you also understand much more whats going on. Try it. The more you do the easier it will be. And besides, you can slow the music down with software if stuff is going to fast.
This music changed my life when I first heard it in high school. What I wouldn't give to see this performance live. R.I.P. Chick!
Same! Even if i started to listen to fusion music after high school.
At least i saw Eric Marienthal with a quartet near Rome.
RIP Chick Corea
That's nice 😌 me listening for 3years and love it
Seriously, Patitucci can only rock those purple scrubs cause he is so fvcking surgical in his approach to the bass. Straight baller.
SUPER band. Watched a concert in Copenhagen in the early nineties. Awesome and got autographs of every member! Now kept on a secure place - Lucky me :-)
Chick truly left a mark on the music world. He's loved and will be missed. Dave Weckl (on drums) is such a genius.
A talent of Weckls rarely mentioned is his sense for orchestration. His choices of which drum and cymbal he plays related to the written music is at a very very high level. Its not just the rhythm and frasing. Wow!
1991.... What a good year... Discovering the Electric live... I was 16 it changed my life
Same here, and I was 17. 😎
Me the same, I was 15 :)
I was so impressed , all the members of the band were signing autograph i regret not to meet them at that moment...they came in a small town in France it was the only show they gave

Simply the best....we're missing u so much already Chick ...rest easy my brother. Thanks for all the melodies & rhythms...over 90 l/p so blows my mind.
woooowwww...just wow! My favourite CCEB track and it's LIVE! amazing! JP is a monster! the groove! the tightness...World Class all of them!
absolutely stunning...some of the best players on the planet all in one band....wow...
At 4:10 Weckl just goes insane with the fill. His timing is crazy. To have that kind of feel is incredible. Weckl is the best to me.
I find it absolutely cathartic starting at 8:01. Don't you love how Chick goes totally anthematic toward the end of a lot of his best Elektric band pieces? I just love Chick's codas. I 800% agree.
Absolutely awesome! Definitely the best period in the Elektric Band's history.
Maravilha de show!🎶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌
Between federation delegation trips to the neutral zone Frank always makes time to play music with friends. The chief medical officer who plays bass is something else! I’ve never heard weekend warriors sound this amazing in my life!
There is so much going on at all times, it´s just amazing, what a great song and musicians.
unfortunately i only started listening to Chick 3 years ago but this was my first impression and i honestly say it blew me away! this group of musicians just make my day everyday. Long live Chick corea, and being a guitarrist of course, Mr Gambale!

The bass playing is awesome...
I listened to the first few years, I was a kid. I fell in love. I listened listen imagined wolves I worked I was a musician. years have passed. I'm still listening. still the same enthusiasm... thank you masters ...

I first heard this when I was a Kid it drew tears then many years later and it still does, incredible talent, ridiculous mind!
WOW...what a truly epic performance of one of Elektric bands best.
Awesome! - I always loved this song from the cd and would listen to it over and over. Who cares if Dave's hair is completely out of control?
I love the bass...
