We cannot see for now the Elektric Band from Italy (because the tour is only in the States), and this your film give me the way for see this great musicians, remembering the first Elektric Band in Atina Jazz Festival on 1994 around...thanks very much. Hope to see this band in Italy in the next summer italian festivals.
Chick was just a fountain of endless creativity. I can envision him now jamming with Mozart and Beethoven. Yea, these guys all played their asses off.....but it's seams so effortless for them. What a show.

Gambale is misunderstood by most musicians, guitarists first.They can't handle the shit he' s delivering most of the time, and grab only the speed and think its clinical and cold.They are missing how laser cut these on the fly coltrane type lightning phrases are just genius and out of nowhere.Look the faces , that doesnt lie.
Weckl is a machine......and I definitely *do not* mean that in a good way. He's all chops, and no soul. Yes, his chops are beyond most. But having chops with no soul is kinda like non-alcoholic beer. What's the point?

Everyone has their opinion, and it should be respected, however, one really needs to first understand the music that is being performed and then how everyone is playing off of everyone else to really understand how Dave plays and why he does what he does. In my opinion, he combines that "machinery" (technical ability) with his expression of how he feels about what is going on. There is no right or wrong. Once you can express yourself proficiently on your instrument, the rest is taste and what you want to say to your audience. Sorry if i tore this apart to the 10th power.
+emsam9 No apologies necessary. Everyone has their weaknesses... Even the masters. What's most important, in my view, is that in the context of this particular gig, Weckl is the man. He innovated this style and so many drummers are better players because of him. I have so many favorite drummers; many more exciting to my personal taste, but Weckl is a joy to watch and clearly a master technician. A great flavor in a huge pie!
